For those of you who are member's of Chantico's Army, you've already received an email from me. However, I wanted to open this up to all fans of the Austin Aztex.

Chantico's Army, which is one of the 2 official supporters groups for the Aztex, is having our Fall Organizational Meeting this Sunday (October 25) from 12:00 noon till 1:30 p.m. at Cuatro's Bar & Grille (1004 West 24th Street, at the intersection of 24th and San Gabriel). We will have as our special guest speaker, Coach Adrian Heath, who will be just back from the teams England tour where they went 3 for 3 beating Stoke City Academy, Accrington Stanley and Sheffield Wednesday. Adrian will speak to this tour and the 2009 season, and will also be taking questions from the audience.

Following Adrian's talk, we'll then discuss items related to supporting the Aztex, such as...

    1. What worked in the 2009 season?
    2. What didn't work in the 2009 season?
    3. What do we, as Chantico's Army, want to do in preparation for the 2010 season at House Park?
    4. What do we want to message to the Front Office when I meet with them in November?

So come on down on Sunday, have a few pints, chat with Adrian, and participate in the building of the Aztex experience for the 2010 season!! If you have questions, feel free to email me at info@chanticosarmy.com.

I don't know if anyone else would be interested, but I'm considering going to the UT-Colorado women's soccer game following this meeting.

It's their last regular-season home game. Kickoff is at 1:00, so I'd only be able to catch about the 2nd half, after the CA meeting wraps up. But tickets are cheap (only $3 with this PDF coupon; $7 full price).

It went fine. We unanimously elected you to wear the new CA mascot costume we voted on. It's kind of like a cross between Divine and Ru Paul, in a kilt, with a big red bouffant wig and Aztec headdress. And every time the other team scores, you get slapped with a big fish.

Hell, that's much better than what I was going to write!!

I'll post a synopsis and some pictures later tonight. In short though, it was a great conversation with Adrian that showed us a peak at what he's looking for in the off season. We also had some great discussions on what we'd like for next season, including tail gates at House with AAA, and a Supporters section right behind the opposing teams bench for Chantico's Army.

    More to come.

I read the write up on the website. All I can say is Hellz ya to every subject brought up. But I would add that it must not be forget that Peaze park, along with the ACC parking garage/controled parking space, is a terrific spot to do some serious tailgating/bbqing.

You were out voted regarding Pease Park, in favor of the ACC garage.

Just read the meeting write-up on the CA website.

WRT more flags...There are 3'x5' red and white checkered flags on sale for $5 here: http://3x5flagstore.com/Red-and-White-Checkered-Flag-3/M/B000G2R1RW.htm

I was also thinking about where to get red and white flags and the "diver down" flags came to mind. Which, of course, made me think that I might need to get one to hoist when one of our opponents goes down w/o contact.

Nice link, they have the Navy Jack too. I'd love to see the diver down put to good use next year.

Awesome. I'll extend the same challenge to all Aztex fans for next season as I leveled at members of the Army during our Supporters Meeting!

Everyone should get at least 1 item to bring to the matches that will help the stadium really rock. Whether it's a noise maker (drums, horns, cowbells, air horns), flags, banners, face painting, you name it. There are a ton of places to get these items. If you need help, private message me and I'll give you some suggestions.

I know that I'll personally be bringing a new Chantico's Army Flag as well as a new banner. What will you bring?

I want to get a large dinner triangle. Those things can be really loud and distinctly Texican...well at least frontier-west. Your not going to get anybody from Canada, PR, or Miami playing the triangle in their stands!

I actually have one of those, but never thought to bring it.
Can we have a triangle section?

I'll buy it from you for $15 if it has at least 12" sides. I was lokking at some 16" iron triangles that looked nice starting at about $16-$22 and add $15 for S&H.

I bet that Western-feed store that is out South-East on 183 on the Left as you're heading out of Austin on 183 would probably stock them. I think I might mozy on down there tomorrow.

I went to Callahan's on Friday and they do have the triangles on sale for $16. Once you go in the front door, they are immediately to your right, hanging on the wall behind the wind chimes.

On a similar note, for those that went to the watch event and saw the pony-keg drum, I got to put it into action yesterday afternoon at a health care rally. I used two old belts to make a neck strap and hang the pony-keg horizontally across my belly and played it as suggested by Dan of the Free Beer Movement. It is loud, gets peoples' attention and everybody loved it! I must have had about 2 dozen people come up and talk to me about it. Every one of them that asked how I came across the idea of using the keg as an instrument, I told them that I first came up with it to take to Austin Aztex soccer games! Nobody asked who the Aztex were, sadly, but they loved the idea and I stood for pictures. I thought I might make it into the paper this morning but no. Either way, pony keg as a noise maker = good idea (and loud).
