Over the summer I spent some time in Portland and was blessed with the opportunity to enjoy Timbers games. The Timbers Army (TA), supporter section, was pretty open to a SoB and just as excited to have there team moving on up to the MLS. They were persistent in echoing the cry, at least we have a team, while I was delighted to inform them that although they currently have a team to follow and support, by the time they join the MLS Philly will already have one title under our belt. Aside from a strong hatred for Seattle (Shittles) one that I will voice during our opener, (side note, who wants to make the trip?) the TA gave insight to the renovations that will be made to their current home. Of which one they seemed most happy about, Was the lack of seats in the supports section. The team loved the idea! for on more than one occasion when the team was preforming poorly the TA removed the chairs and threw them onto the field, at the opposing players, and in some cases at their own keeper. Not only did this same the cost of installing seats, it also save on the repairs. The TA was happy as they could jam more people in the area. Granted you wont be able to sit during halftime but hey, I'll be in the beer line anyway. Just an idea before the construction has gone too far. T B
Re: An Idea from the West, for the east End Some of us have suggested the German Style convertable terracing for years. It ain't gonna happen.
While the original thread title was more clever, I updated because, although it isn't apparent in the drawings, the River End is actually due South, not East.
Arrgghhh, shiver me timbers. ------------ Keel haul the bastard! ------------ A Pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel down his pants. The bartender asks, "Why have you got that steering wheel down your pants?" The pirate answers, "Arrgghhh, they're driving me nuts!"
oh, really? You mean someone else has thought of cannons and terraces and puffy shirts before? are there no original ideas left? I have one, we can take easily recognizable songs and change the words to things about the Philadelphia Union, and then we can sing them at the games to support the team!
i don't think any other groups have drums. we could get a couple and use them to keep the crowd on beat for chants!
I drummed and led the Sam's Army to a dos a cero win over Mexico in Columbus. If you guys bicker over a drummer I'll just take the sticks from you.
