    Here, please

MODERATOR NOTE - This thread is littered with posters who, upon being told that their dream of playing in Japan is unreasonable if not admirable, have taken it upon themselves to consistently ignore pages upon pages of good advice offered by regulars with a detailed knowledge of both Japanese football and the selection criteria that Japanese teams use when selecting foreign players.

And it's gotten old. If you want to try out for a Japanese team, read this thread from page one through 24, take notes, and once you realize that it's nearly impossible go back to school or whatever you do for a living. If you create a new thread about the subject, it will be locked and you will get an infraction. Thank you for your understanding.

If you send them to me, I can give you a honest evaluation of your chances in Japan. Of course it would be just one person's impression, but I followed Japanese soccer since 1994, and I work with 16-18yo players of rather good level on daily basis.

Yea i have CV and videoclips are possible to make of course, i'll send the CV as soon as possible. Sounds really good, thank you a lot. And I'm 188cm tall central of left defender What should mostly be on these videos that i make, is it just games where i play or some shooting skills or some of my specialties?

    Kiitos :)

188 sounds quite good, even thou height is only one of many factors. :)
Let me know when the videos are ready and if they look good I will show them to a J1 coach and to a couple of agents.
No commitment, no promises, but if I can do something to help you and others who wants to tryout in Japan, I would be very happy to help.
Hopefully I am not the only one here who could help, and if Vendo can set you up with a tryout at Mito I believe you should by all means pursue that too.

So what kind of a things i could show in the videos?
Thanks again to you :) yea no promises but let's keep our flags high. One of the reasons i want come and play in Japan is because the league is tough and i love the japanese culture. By the way i'm happy to be helped by you :) And by Mito you mean Mito Hollyhock?
    You live in Mito?

Re: The "I want to tryout in a Japanese Team" Thread

I live in Mito. However, in the past I've tried to set people up with contacts, passed along videos, etc., and ALWAYS a prospective player has had to fly to Japan independently and try out like anyone else. The team will not pay for someone to go abroad or for someone abroad to come to Japan.

I'd be able to talk to the club staff involved if someone were REALLY spectacular and this could be changed (like someone with top class league starter skill) but any foreign player must be significantly better than all the Japanese players available to overcome the difficulties involved with incorporating a foreigner.

So yeah, if there is any information and footage, I'd be happy to pass it on to the right people if good, but the best route to get a J. League playing position in Japan is to take ANY position possible through the national tryouts, where every pro and semi-pro team sends scouts. Taking a spot with a regional league or JFL team will put someone on the map and someone excelling in this level would be picked up by a pro team during the transfer window in the first year.

Re: The "I want to tryout in a Japanese Team" Thread

I live in Kyoto, and I underscore what Vendo said above. If the videos look good, the norm is that the player will be allowed to come around and tryout. But of course the club won't spend any money on a prospective youngster coming from abroad.
Of course I do believe that young European players ***might*** have something lacking to their Japanese counterparts, thus it is worth giving it a try.

Is there many foreign players who has come play in Japan thanks to you?
I understand that the japanese are the first choice on the market if the players are all most equally skilled, so you're saying that I have to be really good to get there?
Are there how many of those national tryouts and when they take place?

It should be a video of you playing soccer...
    - With you looking as a good player
    - Possibly at high level (vs good opponents)
    - If possible good image quality

Yes, I have a LITTLE contact in Kyoto and some other contact as well. Please let me (us) know when the clip is ready.

    Good luck!

The national tryout and team tryouts all take place within 2 weeks of the end of the season.

Teams start pre-season camps as soon as January, thus usually December is the month to tryout.

jänkä, on what level did you play football in Finland?

I ask this because the J. League is significantly better than the Veikkausliiga and even the the top-5 from J2.League could easily stay up in the Veikkausliiga.

In that case you should have the qualities for a J2-club (at least), but as we all know that's not a guarantee you'll make it.

Good luck, and keep us informed ;)

Re: The "I want to tryout in a Japanese Team" Thread

    Hello,

I live in Hiroshima, and just started soccer here in Japan. I was a little late for joining this year's teams, but I am practicing with Chugoku league teams and doing pretty well. I read on here about the national and pro tryouts which are hield sometime around December. What I am looking to find out is how I can participate in them if it is possible. I read somewhere else that it is kind of like a free game where agents watch, so it might be possible for me to register to participate. I am just starting here in Japan, so I don't know how well I would do, but at least I want to see what I am up against and if I can't make it I will know how hard I will need to practice over the next year to try again. If someone has this kind of information, could you please let me know what I have to do to register for the game or what is required to participate in these tryout games?

    Thanks a lot.

Re: The "I want to tryout in a Japanese Team" Thread

    Ps,

I also read that for about two months, players without contracts can participate in the daily exercises of teams to have a chance to be picked by the teams. (from this webpage: http://www.j-leaguers.net/english/tryouts.html). If this is true, not only would I like to try to participate in the big game where scounts come to watch people play, I would like to do daily exercises with my local pro team, sanfrecce. That would be an EXCELLENT chance to measure myself against them.

Does anyone have any information about this kind of thing? it would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

I'm trying to look as good as i can and hope to make the tryouts.
I have a question, if I make it there and get a contract offered, do i have to start as a ProC player? and do i have to be a ProC player how long?
