Who would you like to see in the squad for the November 14th friendly against Holland? Assuming the regulars are all here(list below), who would you add?

    Regulars:

    GK: Buffon, Marchetti
    DEF: Zambrotta, Cannavaro, Chielinni, Grosso
    MID: Camronesi, Pirlo, De Rossi
    ST: Gilardino, Iaquinta

Lets say those are the only players who will be there forsure, how would you fill out the rest of the roster?

    Re: Squad vs Holland?

Buffon has a broken meniscus, there's no need to call him up for a friendly.

And I hope Zambrotta will stay home.

But we're playing only a friendly match? There are 2 international dates in November...what about the other? Is the NT resting?

    Re: Squad vs Holland?

I'm not expecting many new faces to be included to be quite honest with you. Lippi will use this opportunity to use a lot of the younger guys that we saw in the match against Cyprus, more or less in order to prepare them more. The only other guy I'm HOPEFUL will get called is at least Pazzini, who btw happened to score again today against Lazio.

I'd like to see Santon instead of Zambro.

    I second the Pazzini idea.

Pazzini is out for a month so I doubt he'll feature.

This is what i'd like to see:

    GK: Buffon, Marchetti, De Sanctis
DEF: Zambrotta, Cannavaro, Chielinni, Grosso, Santon, Gamberini, Bochetti
MID: Camronesi, Pirlo, De Rossi, D'agostino, Foggia/Giovinco, Palambo, Pepe(Marchisio when healthy)
ST: Gilardino, Iaquinta, Rossi, Quaglirella, Totti, Cassano

    4-3-2-1

    Marchetti

    Santon - Cannavaro - Chielinni - Grosso

Palambo - Pirlo - De Rossi

    Cassano - Totti

    Gilardino

Vs Holland, De Rossi and Palambo would be needed to help the defense, so I'd have them sit further back than Pirlo. Almost making a diamond like formation with Pirlo, Cassano, Totti and Gillardino. I doubt Cassano will be called up though, so if not I'd pair Totti with Foggia/Giovinco. Getting embarrassed by The Netherlands is not something Lippi needs right now, after his last outburst and all.

    I think he'll stick to his 4-2-3-1

    Santon, Canna, Chiellini, Criscito
    Palombo De Rossi
    Camoranesi Pirlo Di Natale
    Gilardino

    Subs:
Marchisio in for Palombo or De Rossi
Iaquinta for Di Natale or Camo
Pepe For Camo or Di Natale
    Iaquinta or Rossi for Gila

    no massive changes IMO

would be nice if santon got significant playing time for the match. i agree that zambrotta doesn't need to be there. quags and gila up front as they were against cyprus. if it were strictly a warm up match i'd have rossi start but it's holland and we want revenge.

    Re: Squad vs Holland?

Muslera gave him a superman punch this past weekend and had broken his nose. Since Lippi is arrogant anyways i doubt he is looking past Gilardino Iaquinta as the top striker position(s). I also don't think he is looking beyond DiNatale and Quagliarella and perhaps between Pepe/Rossi either. We all know Cassano Pazzini would add a huge amount of quality and skill to the team but no sorry Lippi has his favorites. I don't think the door is open for strikers.

For those who are wondering about Foggia still, Ballardini recently still hasn't used him a whole lot. I can say he is starting right attacker Thursday in UEFA vs Rossi's Villareal in a 4-3-3 position. I hope he gets this call-up for Netherlands as he has been deserved to be called up since last season.

I think GeoFunkE has the probable formation correct (assuming Lippi wants to play young over experience for the full back positions) although I can probably select a stronger different starting 11.

Lazio G.K broke his nose, he's out for the month, and Totti needs another knee operation on the one he already had...

    Re: Squad vs Holland?

From what I read on Goal today.. it sounds like Lippi wants to use all the international friendly dates before the WC, that would be 4 games, including this one. So that means he has some new pieces he wants to integrate, or hes not happy with our play and wants us to get on track. I'm really hoping Giovinco gets called up, I love this kids ability to run with the ball and win free kicks/corners. I think thats something we've lacked of late. When you have someone like Pirlo, it's important to get as many free kicks as you can. If Cassano isn't an option, then why not call up arguably the most talented young italian we have.

Based on somewhat on the Juve formation yesterday what would people think about this idea:

    Santon - Canna - Chiellini - Grosso
    ------De Rossi ----- Palombo (Marchisio)
    -Camoranesi-----Pirlo------Giovinco
    -----------Gila/Iaquinta/Rossi-----

Assuming Cassano doesnt get called. Strong defensively with a lot of creativity up front.

Giovinco is a very long shot to get called...

Marchisio (though he would be more defensive) or Rossi (though he woudl be more offensive) could be placed there instead. Of course, you could always hope someone like Foggia gets called up for that spot.

Even if he doesnt start Id love for him to get called. Perfect sub for Camoranesi think of the pace and spark he could bring in the 60th minute.

I would love for him to get called to but only if he establishes himself this season. I mean it wouldn't be right nor logical to take him over players who get regular time and have been playing with the team for several games now.

I doubt Giovinco will get the call, but I wouldn't be opposed to it if he did. I suspect it would only happen in the face of a few injuries and he would only be there to get experience with limited play. He looked good cutting in from wide in Juve's game yesterday vs Maccabi, but that is Maccabi we're talking about. Although, it is nice that we have someone other than Camoranesi and Di Natale that look comfortable cutting into the middle from wide. I suppose Rossi can as well, but I don't think Lippi intends to use him that way.

Iaquinta is apparently set to have knee surgery that will keep him out of action for at least a month, thus cancelling him out of this friendly match. If you ask me Lippi has very reason to ignore Pazzini now.

Pazzini wears a mask, he's good to play. Lippi better call up some new faces who are in form, he needs more ideas and should keep this squad a surprise for our opponents.

    Re: Squad vs Holland?

why? santon ain't ready for the big stage barring big improvement imho. zambrotta should probably be replaced but by whom I don't know. right back ain't exactly the strongest position for the azzurri right now...abate, motta, santon, de silvestri et al, none have really stepped up to claim a position though they still have some time.

Am I the only crazy who would like to see Marco Rossi of Genoa called up? :p

Somewhere I read that he's under Lippi's radar, and why not try him out for the next 2 friendlies?
