Cause he's the best DM in the world, and because imo he's still not settled completely at Barca, and because he'd like to play with his brother. If they really include him in a swap for Robinho, I don't even know what to say. All the other (slightly) bonehead moves this summer are justifiable, this one would be stupidity in its purest form. Thank God the president can only serve two terms.
LOL it's funnny watching the Madrid fans' reactions about the Robinho rumors. I specifically remember some years ago arguing with some Madrid fans who were claiming Robinho was better than Messi some seasons ago in La Liga. It was the same spazztic reaction they had when Robben was in very good form for about 2 months. Now all of a sudden he sucked for them and never really did much.
France Football magazine has announced their list of 30 nominees for the 2009 Ballon d'Or award (European Footballer of the Year): Andrei Arshavin (Russia) Arsenal Karim Benzema (France) Olympique Lyon/Real Madrid Iker Casillas (Spain) Real Madrid Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal) Manchester United/Real Madrid Diego (Brazil) Werder Bremen/Juventus Didier Drogba (Ivory Coast) Chelsea Edin Dzeko (Bosnia) Wolfsburg Samuel Eto'o (Cameroon) Barcelona/Inter Milan Cesc Fabregas (Spain) Arsenal Fernando Torres (Spain) Liverpool Diego Forlan (Uruguay) Atletico Madrid Steven Gerrard (England) Liverpool Ryan Giggs (Wales) Manchester United Yoann Gourcuff (France) Bordeaux Thierry Henry (France) Barcelona Zlatan Ibrahimovic (Sweden) Inter Milan/Barcelona Andres Iniesta (Spain) Barcelona Julio Cesar (Brazil) Inter Milan Kaka (Brazil) AC Milan/Real Madrid Frank Lampard (England) Chelsea Maicon (Brazil) Inter Milan Lionel Messi (Argentina) Barcelona Luis Fabiano (Brazil) Sevilla Franck Ribery (France) Bayern Munich Wayne Rooney (England) Manchester United John Terry (England) Chelsea Nemanja Vidic (Serbia) Manchester United David Villa (Spain) Valencia Xavi (Spain) Barcelona Yaya Toure (Ivory Coast) Barcelona
Kaka (Was he even out of the Doctors office enough to play last season? only started 28 games, and its not like he played bunches in europe.), Benzema(He played in 2nd tier league and did not even win it) and Drogba (did not even start half the matches of the PL last year) do not merit inclusion in this list IMO for what they did last season. The rest were impressive for most of the season last year, even Ronaldo....But it should go Down to 5 players, and those should be Xavi, Iniesta, Samu, Messi, and Ronaldo. Glad to see Yoan Gourcuff and Edin Dzeko in there, as they were the best players of Championship winning teams in their leagues.....Maybe Diego should not be on the list either.
I think Zlatan will get into the final five, especially if he has a good fall (technically the award is for the calendar year, right?). Inter won the scudetto on his back.

I want to see a month of bad performances at Barca before I worry about Messi burning out. Two bad games isn't a trend; it's just a patch of meh.
I guess Sport felt obligated to write up that article, after they wrote the article talking about how bad Messi was in the Valencia game..
[R]!!! Re: 2009/2010 Season thread (part 1) - Tougher to defend: Barça's attack or the Triplete? [R]!!! Tonight the defence of the Triplete just got a little bit tougher... Well, when the going gets tough, the tough gets going! So, are we tough enough this season? C'mon!!! Lets get f$§%$cking tough please! Let's stop underestimating our opponents!
I'd really rather have Suarez: cheaper, younger, and on a consistent upward trajectory. Robinho will have some great games, but he'll have a lot in which he disappears.
Dani Alves sidelined for three weeks. Next three weeks: home to Zaragosa and Mallorca, away to Osasuna... oh, and away to Rubin Kazan.
we might need two or three signings even i'm really not looking forward to loosing keita and yaya in january... either of robinho of suarez makes a lot of sense the cicinho rumors also make sense, if he doesn't ming being a backup for dani and then maybe loaning a veteran midfielder who can cover for yaya and keita for a month
That sounds good to me. Cover for LWF and RB, a loaner for MF. I'm officially starting the "Masch to Barca" rumor. His team will barely be in the top half of the table by the winter and he can help us defend La Liga.
The midfield will take a hit for sure when Yaya and Keita are gone to the African Nations Cup. I'm not sure who we can grab then, but Masch is an interesting option. The only problem is where will he play when Keita and Yaya come back? I say we get Suarez as well, but Robinho comes with more hype and he really dislikes lpb.
I wish the team would get Aimar. I still think the team needs another playmaker and Aimar already has plenty of experience in La Liga. I don't think he'd have a problem sitting on the bench, plus I don't think he'd be that expensive. Of course I doubt it will ever happen.
Alves has been test again and will be out for less than first reported... He will be out for two weeks instead of 3 and will miss only 3 matches; Zaragoza, Osasuna and the first CDR match, he will be ready for the 2nd leg of the CL
Good news In the meantime, does Puyol play all the matches at right back? Who would be his emergency back-up?
Unfortunately, Puyol is his only backup. So we're stuck with playing Marquezat CB in UCL games while Alves is out.
We should get Hernanes from Sao Paulo and Ozil from Werder in during the January transfer window. Both are quality players and neither will be cup tied for Europe. Edit: Ozil will be cup tied since Werder got into the Europa League by winning the DFB-Pokal last season. He's still a quality player who says he dreams to play for us and he'd be much cheaper than Robinho.
