    Quote from Ching and Dom:

    http://sports.yahoo.com/mls/recap?gid=2009101820&prov=ap

    Ching admitted his mistake afterward.

“I touched a guy in the face, and the refs saw it and gave me a red card,” he said. “Stupid play on my part, but it was an intense game.

“It was a stupid play on my part and two red cards in the last two (home) games doesn’t look good. I let my team down, but better now than come playoff time.”

Houston now has a red card in five straight games and six out of seven, but Kinnear was more upset about his striker missing the next match.

“It’s not because it is Brian Ching,” said Kinnear. “It’s because it is a player who plays, who is an important player. And if you look at the guys who have been red-carded, they are all important players.

“They are guys that play significant and important minutes for us. And today, it’s not just about the six minutes that he missed. It’s 90 next week.”

What is going on with this team right now? We have one of the most seasoned team in the MLS and we are just playing stupid right now as it has to do with cards. I bet other teams are just going to try to entrap us by getting cards in the playoffs.

If I was Dom, I would start fining players personally for stupid cards. We have not played smart at all this season and I don't know if that has to do with leadership on the field or what.

As this team knows from past seasons, the real season starts in the playoffs. Hopefully we can change our mindset when the playoffs come.

where were you when i brought this up a couple of weeks ago? this isn't a recent occurence. all peeps could say was "yeah, but the reds in the Arabe Unido game were bogus."

staying positive: hey at least Ching now plays on Wednesday at Metapan and give us a chance to advance. perhaps this is the way they planned it.

It was only 5 reds in 6 games last week so I didn't think it was too much of a problem :)

It really is something else. The guy goes his entire career as a big banger up front without ever getting a red card then gets two in two games.

I think Ching is very frustrated right now. He has been that way all season and I think the icing on the cake was him not even dressing for the last WC qualifier. Ching is playing angry but in the wrong way.

I feel this a good place to start the betting for the next game.

So, who's going to get sent off against Metapan? And we'll go ahead and start taking bets on the Chivas game here as well. So call your shot...

    Metapan:

The obvious answer seems Robinson and that is a compelling choice. However, I'm going with Danny Cruz.

    Chivas USA:

If the pattern holds true, its Landin's turn to take the obligatory red for the Forward Triumvirate (Weaver obliged against KC and Ching picked up where he left off against LA). However, I'm going with Geoff Cameron. I picked him against LA but I think I'll go back to him for Chivas USA. I'm envisioning a last defender foul as opposed to something reckless.

I like the fine the players idea.

Red cards will kill HD's season.

You cannot win a playoff much less a title if every freakin' game you end with 10... or 9...

Could Ching's change of attitude be partly due to the Hakeem Olajuwon syndrome?

Hakeen Olajuwon syndrome= One of the best players in league history and whether it is a Houston thing or not, the players gets hacked and beat up his whole career and he is not given the respect other people of lesser or greater skill get.

    Guys,

Make it 7 reds in the last 7 games! I was sent off after the game for telling the AR that he needed to make an appointment with the proctologist, so he could find where he left his head!

Sorry that I won't make it to the Chivas game, but I am going to go in a different direction for our red card pot on Sunday. My pick is that Oduro gets sent off for 2 yellows on absolutely horrible dives, and he completes the striker Triumvirate!

But at least he didn't do it in the World Cup like this Jack-Off:

I would bet a good sum of money that our record is better when we finish down a man than when our opponent finishes down a man.

Maybe...but I would bet a good sum of money that our record is better when we finish with 11 men than it is when we finish down a man.

I bet we have zero reds in the next two games and shape up nicely for the playoffs. I'm sure the guys are definitely getting an earful about keeping their cool and will adjust accordingly.

I expect Mullan to make a big impact over the next two games. Just a hunch.

Is there a place you can read an explanation of a red card other than a one word reason like "striking"? I still don't understand why Davis got the red card "for coming off the bench".

This is why we need Eddie the Elbow back in the lineup ASAP. He's our enforcer and I think the rest of the players would be able to control their tempers a lot better if they knew eRob was going to take care of the guy who hit Pat/took a cheap shot/got away with one/etc.
