QPR -- 10th, 11 GP, +7 GD, 17 points v. Reading -- 21st, 12 GP, -8 GD, 10 points ------ 20 October 2009 20:00 Loftus Road ------ Rangers News: Ben Watson is available for QPR after serving a one-game suspension. Seven first-team squad members remain out: Rowlands (knee), Ephraim (ankle), Pellicori (knee), Connolly (illness), Balanta (groin), Cook (knee), and Leigertwood (illness). The Opponent: Reading is off to a poor start, but has earned 7 of their 10 points on the road (2-1-3), so they're no pushover on their travels thus far. They are losers of their last two, but against top clubs -- away to West Brom and at home to Boro. The two before that were an away win at Preston and a home draw with Watford. The Series: Reading leads 35-17-24 overall. Each club has one win in cup compeitions with the remainder of the series coming in league play. Last season, the clubs played to two 0-0 draws. Yawn.
Here's how they'll run out at HQ in 20 minutes... QPR: Cerny, Ramage, Stewart, Routledge, Buzsaky, Gorkss, Watson, Faurlin, Simpson, Borrowdale, Taarabt. Subs: Heaton, Mahon, Hall, Vine, Agyemang, Alberti, Ainsworth. Reading: Federici, Cisse, Mills, Gunnarsson, Tabb, Long, McAnuff, Kebe, Ingimarsson, Church, O'Dea. Subs: Hamer, Robson-Kanu, Karacan, Rasiak, Sigurdsson, Pearce, Howard.
Guessing the R's will look like so: -----------------Cerny----------------- Ramage---Stewart--Gorkss---Borrowdale Routledge---Watson---Faurlin---Buzsaky -------Simpson----------Taarabt------- With Buzz, Faurlin and Taarabt doing a bit of inter-changing
Not a great start for the Rs - Reading sound to have the better of possession. Guess I'm expecting too much after the clinic on Saturday Commentators just said that we've not beaten Reading at home since 1967. Let's hope that drought ends tonight.
True, although we've only played them six times at Loftus Road since then. No games after January 1967 for 30 years. 03/97 -- loss 12/97 -- draw 01/02 -- loss 03/05 -- draw 11/05 -- loss 01/09 -- draw
Rs have been better in recent minutes. Taarabt and Faurlin combine well and it's laid off to Watson who shoots wide. Still goalless
Oh my lord - Ben Watson has been sent off for a second yellow. First was a poor tackle and the second came when he took a free kick too quickly. --- Then Buzz takes said free-kick and curls it right into the corner!!! 1-nil - wow - what a set of events!
I was on the phone and Jay Simpson scored! If you need me, I'll be back on the phone Here are the goal details... Queens Park Rangers 1 - 0 Reading (Akos Buzsaky 31') Queens Park Rangers 2 - 0 Reading (Jay Simpson 39') Down to ten men and a long way to go
What kind of referee gives a second yellow for a QUICK restart in the first half? No kind. Oh... I guess the answer really is no kind except A.R. Hall. This is his 4th red in 14 games thus far this season. That's the same number he gave out in 32 games last season!
Excellet... particularly given how pretty the goals by Taarabt and Routledge were on Saturday. It's it better than those, I really want to see it! So... in January we need to buy Watson, Taarabt, and Simpson.
And now the two sides are level again Ingimarsson has been sent off immediately after the kick-off for a rash tackle on Simpson. Literally 5 seconds after the kick-off
Watson isn't going to be overworked... red card, international break, suspension, red card, suspension. Will it only be a one-game suspension? Or will it be more since it's his second red of the season?
Watson should have a strong appeal and might end up without a suspension and the second yellow rescinded.
This was his 4th. He had 3 in 13 coming in. Still, he only handed out 4 in 32 games last season and has hit that mark in October this season!
Friend at HQ says Simpson's goal was the best ever at home. Better than this?!? [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVcIR6ftJuk"]YouTube - Trevor Sinclair Goal[/ame]
Interesting scores around the Championship. All the clubs above us are winning, except for the top 2 (West Brom and Newcastle). Of course, it's not about the table in the Autumn, it's about the play - and the Rs are showing nicely!
Nice! ...and that's without Rowlands, Ephraim, Pellicori, Connolly, Balanta, Cook, and Leigertwood. Rowlands, Leigertwood, and Connolly, at least, would be pushing for time in our starting 11.
