Granted I'm basing this on a lot of assumptions

    Pool A:
    South Africa
    England
    Chile
    New Zealand

    Pool B:
    Brazil
    Russia
    Cameroon
    Australia

    Pool C:
    Germany
    Netherlands
    Ivory Coast
    Japan

    Pool D:
    Italy
    Serbia
    Paraguay
    Honduras

    Pool E:
    France
    Switzerland
    Tunisia
    North Korea

    Pool F:
    Spain
    Slovakia
    Uruguay
    South Korea

    Pool G:
    Argentina
    Greece
    Ghana
    Mexico

    Pool H:
    Portugal
    Denmark
    Algeria
    United States

I just threw this out there to see where it might lead.
Obviously the playoffs, final African fixtures, the way FIFA has its pots and the draw could throw a wrench into all this.

    Questions?
    Comments?

Germany and Netherlands in the same group? mmmm, I think Netherlands will be in the 1rst level the draw's day, beside South Africa, Brazil, Germany, Spain, Italy, Argentina and (France).

In the other hand, I think Portugal gonna be in the 2nd european level, beside England, Serbia, Switzerland, Denmark, Slovakia, etc.

Edgar (he who knows) says the seeds should be South Africa, Italy, Brazil, Germany, Spain, England, Argentina and another European team (France/Portugal/Netherlands).

That would stop the Group A shown above by the way. Ignoring that, the draw as it stands would be close to the worst possible for the AFC teams.

I threw it out there to see what's possible, not what's going to happen.

Now if that is the 2010 FIFA World Cup draw..............................

The Dutch missed WC02, there's no way they get a seed this time.

Unless, of course, both Portugal and France stumble.

OP, first off england will be seeded, second italy will get group f, the winners of previous tournaments are placed in group f. other than that it seems ok

Mind you, if we weren't, and got that draw, we'd be laughing.

This may have been covered before but in 2006 Brazil (as holders) were given top seed in Group F (before the draw).
Will this be the case with Italy this year? I have seen it mentioned but is it official?

You're right that England will be seeded.

But WC winner to Group F?

    That happened once--Brazil in 2006.

In 2002, France were placed into Group A.

What are you basing this on?

"why don't you accept yourself, for heavens sake"?

Still none the wiser on group F though!

Note to self: always refer to the land of the rising sun as JPN.

From your lips to FIFA's ears.

If Uruguay does advance, which 5-team continent do you think gets the "advantage" of being in the same pot as CONMEBOL's 3 teams, Asia or Africa, and therefore not have to face them?

It seems to me that this is going to be a completely political decision by FIFA, but I can't tell if they'll be pro-Africa because of the location of the Cup or pro-Asia because of the number of federations.

In 2002, CONCACAF and AFC had to be put together for the sake of numbers because of the two Asian hosts and the glut of Euro teams.

But in 2006, Par-Ecu & Australia could have been put with Asia's 5, but were instead put with Africa's 5, while CONCACAF and Asia shared a pot.

Who determined that and how? And how will it be determined this time?

FIFA will avoid a South American country in the same group of South Africa. i am sure they will play against a CONCACAF nation and from Asia

I also thought past FIFA tournaments come into play re seedings. Unless its just world cup, but even still, how can england who missed out on euro be seeded and portugal not who not only qualified for euro but made the wtr finals aswell as making the semis in germany world cup? What a joke these seedings are. Same with Holland. Won every match in qualifying yet england looks as though will be seeded above them.

    What a joke!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I swapped england and portugal around because I think thats what will happen more than likely. Im not sure how it works they change the bloody format every year. Anyway Ive got South Africa vs Russia in the 2nd round im tipping south africa. Brazil vs Portugal Brazil. Germany vs Serbia germany wins. Italy vs Holland Italy holland would choke again even after there good win at euro. Switzerland vs Slovakia Slovakia. Spain vs France Spain - Spain. Argentina vs denmark - argentina and england vs chana - england.

QTR Finals South africa vs Italy - Italy
    Brazil vs Germany - Germany
    Slovakia vs England - England
    Spain vs Argentina - Argentina

    Italy vs Argentina - Argentina
    Germany vs England - Germany

    Italy vs England - England

    Germany vs Argentina - Argentina

replay of italia 90 except Argentina reigns triumphant, and england beats Italy to third place.
