The game might not matter if Pachuca doesn't beat Arabe Unido at 7 the same day but I have a feeling it will. In any case, expect a reserve laden team (and Brian Ching).

this sending reserves to central america in a dire situation thing at the end of CCL is getting to be a tradition. Will Dom make the trip this year?

yosarrin-dude, I missed you post game. I was headed over there and my freakin battery died. So I instead spent the time trying to get a jump (remind me to tell my U of H PD are scumbags story). Bring it to the playoff game and I'll hook up with you then. thanks. In Ade we trust:D

How jacked up would it be if Pachuca beats Arabe Unido and we end up drawing 0-0...or worse, become the first team in the group to allow a goal to Metapan?

Oh wait...hold on. I should try and be more positive as *rey* has said. Oduro scores a hat trick giving him the confidence to be a very effective sub off the bench in the playoffs. That and a John Michael Hayden free kick leads to a 4-0 win and a spot in the CCL QF.

the way things are going I wouldn't be surprised at all if this happens. THINK POSITIVE, THINK POSITIVE!-The lights will stay on, the lights will stay on. Pachuca is ethical and will play for the win.

What are you guys talking about?

    I say 8-1 Dynamo

    E-Rob with 2
    Hayden with 1
    Ustruck with 1
    Waibel with 1
    Oduro with 1
    Abe Thompson with 1
Tally Hall with the final goal as he punts the ball over the head of the goalkeeper and in!

    Then in the second half:

Tyler Deric comes on and then is injured, which forces Dom to bring in 4th goalkeeper, Tony Caig. We promptly give up 5 goals are are up 8-6. A Danny Cruz bicycle kick makes the game 9-6 and we hold on as Caig lets two go through his leg and we run out of El Salvador with an 9-8 win!

All things being equal, Pachuca should defend their house in good order and at kickoff our Naranja boys will know what they have to do. Win!

I am confident that Dom will send a not so good team on paper but it might be the exact type of team that is hungry for the day and it is them that earns a result down in Sallie land.

    DALE DYNAMO!

SC is close but got a little carried away with his prediction...Dynamo win 6-0 with hat tricks by Oduro and Barrett...Ching gets a RC in the 95th minute for looking sternly at the referee...:p

Yeah, we know that but try selling that to all those that love their MLS Cup over everything else. After Sunday we will see.....

Stu commented on his Twitter that he was heading for ES so I'm guessing the entire team is heading down there. That might not have happened had the Chivas game been Saturday.

Speaking of Stu, did anybody watch/hear his interview last night on Fox Soccer Fone show? It was interesting and the guys (mainly Eric) was pushing him to go forward (to Europe). Overall pretty good and favorable towards MLS and Houston, too.

It's funny they way things are (and difficult) because some fans won't respect or attend MLS games until they advance further and win in competition like CCL. Winning a tourney that is at home (SL) or domestically (MLS cup) won't convince many people that you can step up to the next level. I know we have real restrictions and all but maybe some year's focus should be spent on winning outside (regional) competition.

agreed-but I think it's still a ways off. Things will get better with the CBA talks this offseason and the raising of the salary caps. It won't make a huge difference but it will help in the short term.

Not to derail the thread but I hope the rumors of raising the cap to 4 million and adding another DP spot is true. Throw in an expansion of the rosters (to about 28-30) and a real reserve league that plays more than 10 games during the season and our ability to compete internationally should be improved.

...and to keep the thread completely off track.... I really hope they can bring back the reserve league. I can't believe we've gone without it all year, and I think it's been really missed.

the truth is most US fans can't wrap their heads around a concept of playing other teams from your region.
Hell, I've heard the DYnamo being called champions of the world.

I thought the CCL and USOC was the reserve league for the Dynamo

And on the point that if the Dynamo can ever win a "real" competition they will finally be respected, I seriously doubt that. Many of the MLS and USMNT haters will never respect the accomplishments or victories associated with US soccer, always finding ways to diminish any positive results and overplay negative ones (like if we win the CCL it will be against a "weak" field based on the prior years' league standings).

They don't want to support MLS teams and never will or are not open to doing so.

It's true that some people will never support the team or league because of fear, ignorance or supersition but I am can you tell many people did come around during the respectable runs the Dynamo had in past outside/regional competition. In fact the wins against these teams, such as Pachuca, has been cited both within Dynamo and MLS circles (postings) as an example.
Winning or good showings in region should be the next goal in addition to consistent MLS success.

In our market, with our very savvy footy culture here, indeed our success against much more established clubs supplied our club with instant street cred.

Help me out here but at Robertson in all competitions (FIFA pathway, SuperLiga and or Exhibitions) we are 3-3-2 versus the MFL for example. I'll take it and I have lived the ripple effects on down to pick up games and the charla that surrounds our club and the younger football loving youth in our city that have pride in our orange jersey.

    Beat:
    Pachuca, America, Monterrey
    Tied:
    Morelia, Atlante
    Lost:
    Shitvas, Pumas, Pachuca

There is some truth to that but the fact of the matter is, if you have consistent, quality performances the haters and naysayers will all but melt away. One CCL win and some people might jump on the bandwagon but others will try and explain it away as lucky. Consistent appearances in the final is a lot harder to explain away and people won't be able to do it. It's just basic human nature.
