    Most memorable for me was is too hard to distinguish one match. The match's against Australia, Germany and France in 2006. Unbelievable. My first world cup I got to see Italy win as I was born in 1982.

    I went to sleep as a 17 year old thinking italy were gone against Holland in 2000. That would have been up there.

    Spain 1994 was the first ever full game I watched at USA. Unreal.

    Best I've seen them play? vs Wales 2003 was fantastic.4-0 Inzahgi hattrick.

    Most memorable If I had to choose one, against host Nation Germany. Grosso, my hero.

    Maybe this is because I was so young (15 years old) but the 1982 World Cup Final against Germany was the top for me for so many reasons. We had a fantastic defense and world class goalkeeper. We had playmakers. And we got timely goals. And we had one of the most beautiful, honest, passionate goal celebrations I have ever seen. It was the culmination of a tournament in which gli Azzurri truly put it all together at one time (at least for the last 4 or 5 matches). And on the biggest stage possible, against one of the great football powers in the world. Even today when I see the highlights I get brividi.

    Second place was Italia - Germania 2006 World Cup. For all of the same reasons above. Expect that I am not so young anymore, though on that night I forgot my age.

    *My apologies to my German friends for looking like I am picking on you. It is not intentional! ;)*

    Memories have a stronger effect when you're 15 years old. I felt like a teenager again watching Fabio Grosso celebrate. And we're all getting older.;)

    My nonno Gennaro died the year before. He was the biggest influence in making me love the game, Napoli and the National Team, and he had been waiting for Italia to win a World Cup since 1938. The beauty of the game was all there for me in 1982. Glad to hear it was the same for you Sardus! :D

    I game you know you will lose and then don't.....
    Euro 2000 VS Netherlands

    but if you ever get the chance watch the 1970 WC game against West Germany
    and pretend that you are watching live. That one is for the ages.

    WC 2006 against Germany has to be Italy's top performance in the last 20 years. A hostile crowd and numerous missed chances and we still prevailed.

    Best game: 4-1 win over Germany in a pre-world cup 06 friendly

    Most MEMORABLE: 2-0 win over Germany in WC 06

    Every time I replay that image in my head of Grosso scoring that goal I still get goosebumps lol. "CHE GRANDE GROSSO! CHE GRANDE GROSSO!!!!"

    Great thread; you guys hit the best games in the last twenty years for Italy supporters: the Germany and France games in the last WC; Baggio single-handedly taking out Nigeria after Zola was dismissed; the courage of the players in that Holland SF.

    Worst memories were being robbed by South Korea and B. Moreno in WC 2002and the cruel Euro final loss against France.

    I also remember Italy playing phenomenally well on a couple occassions and not getting results. The first that comes to mind was the critical last group match game against Germany in Euro 1996 where we needed to beat them to advance and we could not, but played brilliantly. Zola missed the PK in that one. The next was the Italy x Sweden match in the Euros where we dominated until Trap wanted to defend the lead and garbage Ibrahimovic scored his most important goal ever.

    YEAH I was at the sweden game, i knew we'd ******** that up. Against holland i dont rate that performance because they had heaps of players out. But the germany game { both were awesome }

    vs Australia was good. bTW I was born in australia but parents were born in italy and support italy 100 percent. I still go for the socceroos { not against italy, not one bit } and how they complain ill never know. It wa s apk. Ill elaborta efurther, end of the day we had to play with ten men so even if they say they were robbed, could say the same for azzurri if we lost. IMO, it was a red and a pk. Theyre sooks, anyway to win with ten men was awesome.

    I was 16 at the time and I am with you guys. That 82 tournament was definitely my most memorable and I doubt you will ever see a team win a WC again by beating Argentina Brazil and Germany along the way. A close second for me though was the 94 semi final against Bulgaria just because I was sitting on the 20 yard line 20 rows up from the field and I got to watch Baggio score 2goals right in front of me.

    Italy vs West Germany 1982 WC final without a doubt. The finest display of Calcio Alla'Italiana that I've ever seen. In fact from the Brazil game onwards they were "magical" :)

    I'd welcome a return to that style with open arms ;)

    Italy vs Spain, Nigeria, Norway 1994. Agaist Nigeria and Norway we had to play with ten men and won ha!

    1997 - 1-0 win at Wembley WCQ. Canna's first start I believe and it was against Allan Shearer and he flogged him. Zola goal.

    3-3 Brazil Le Tournoi De France. Should have won this.

    1998 2-2 vs Chile. Baggio redemption in first up match at world cup in Bordeaux

    2000 - Vs Holland and Belgium. win on pk's and earlier on a 2-0 win where Totti and Fiore scored against the co hosts

    2000 WCQ 3-0 Romania

    2002 2-0 Ecuador

    2003 4-0 vs wales ECQ Inzahgi hattrick

    2005 vs Holland 3-1

    2006 - Vs Ghana and Australia { 10 men vs aussies }

    2006 vs germany 4-1, and 2-0 success in semi final

    2008 3-1 vs Portugal in Switzerland { flogged them from 2nd half onwards }
