No, I didn't miss that part at all, you see I'm a multitasker so I can "lovefest nuthug" and read at the same time. So then if we use your logic there are times during the season we should select our lineups based on the individual qualities of players, irregardless of their current form? Or does this just apply to Benzema?
Shevchenko too, eh? I agree that it's different to score in Europe then in league play, but I wouldn't pick Shevchenko or Morientes even though they have great CL goal scoring records. Benzema has 0 goals so far for Real Madrid -edit: in the CL-, he looks lost in the field. I really don't think it makes much sense risking such an off-form player for the game.
absolutely we should look at their qualities vs form, but again, there are only a fraction of positions were this is applicable, particularly in attack. Secondly, as bad as Benzema was the last game, and as good as raul was the last game, you are going by, what, game to game basis? Benzema would surely be benched by me if we were playing Zurich or Marseille on wednesday, but Milan is prime for him. Other positions are not as clear cut. We are not replacing Kaka with VDV or Ronaldo with Granero, or Xabi with Gago, just because they had a bad game..those positions need continuity as well as quality of player (many times, irregardless of current form. I will give you this, Benzema has been somewhat disappointing so far, and needs to step it up big time. I have no quarrels benching Benzema until he gets his act together, and I have no issues with Raul starting against Milan if that's the case... But I'm going by what I've seen from Milan, and where our strength and weaknesses in attack is.
Actually, it doesn't, when everyone else pretty much sucked. I don't think you can tell that he isn't rusty anymore just from that match. I think Lass will be a safer bet and then Diarra can start against Sporting in the weekend.
Interesting, especially in light of comments you've made before today. But hey whatever helps you sleep at night right?
f*ck sakes, we all talk about patience and teamwork. How can we expect benzema, alonso, kaka, albiol et al. Its easy to blame the oldies because they have been there for years and they can magically adapt. But what people dont realise is that the oldies and the newbies have to find a way to work together and until their understanding isnt concrete we are gonna get some half assed, half/quarter baked/sometimes player dependent performances. Back to milan contribution, Seedorf view on the upcoming game: Inzaghi: Pato: Ronaldinho: Arbeloa: Ramos:
That's very clever that, picking two players that were world class and are now way past their prime. I wouldn't pick either of the two players you've chosen either if they were off form since it's not as if they would get better with successive matches. Benzema needs games, how many did Higuain need to get kick started? Shevchenko 33, Morientes 33 and.........(drum roll).....Benzema 21!
The fact remains-he's in terrible form. Why risk playing him when there are more ready alternatives ?
You're comparing Benzema CL's stats who was a starter for Lyon on his own position against Higauin who was neither here in many of his CL games? Doesn't seem fair to one of the players at all. I call shenanigans and demand a fairer way to compare the players, like current form to establish who could do better now for Real Madrid, as opposed to then with another club. edit: ¿have Higauin and Benzema paired up for 45 minutes yet?
Current form being the last game? Benzema was just as good if not better than Higuain in their respective international matches. Against Sevilla, they were as bad as each other, although I admit Benzema got more minutes.
Actually, I've just realised that I'm not even debating that Higuain should be benched, I believe he should start (don't know how I got roped into this Benz vs. Higuain debate!). It's Granero that I think doesn't deserve to start ahead of Benzema. Look back at my previous post and you'll see this.
You're lucky, I was this close *puts fingers very close together* to unleashing the goal ratio card. And as Ronaldooo has taught us, this clears all other arguments from the table.
I wasn't going to loose this one! I knew somewhere down the line my viewpoint got contorted. On page 6 I posted the following formations as desirable: -------Lass--Alonso-------- ----------Kaka------------ Higuain------------Benzema/Raul -------Benzema/Raul------- or --------Lass--Alonso-------- ---Higuain----------Kaka--- -----Benzema----Raul------
typical strawman's argument... have nothing better to rebuttal with, so stick to pick and choosing one liners. You must be a good Fox news "analyst" too, right?
And you should definitely know about strawman arguments. If I were you I'd work on the one-liners and insults though, nut hugger is getting played out.
yep, done. anyways, I'm really eager to see how Kaka reacts in this game, and whether or not Guti will get the nod over Granero/VdV. I'm hoping M. Diarra gets some play time...his physical presence should be a great neutralizer against a weakened Milan attack, specially with Lass having a slight knock and mentally fatigued. I have a feeling Pipita is gonna have a really good game!
Its gonna be messed seeing Kaka play against us. I imagine there will be lots of hugs for him from the team.
Is this because he had a much better game than Benzema this weekend. Or because we usually play better with one more midfielder in the team ?
I don't see why playing slightly better than someone in a single game gives that player the right to start the proceeding game. Plus, I think that Granero has been pretty meh in the last few games.
Interesting but how about we add another midfielder in there? Lass--Diarra--Xabi -Granero--Kaka-- ----Higuain------- Anyone else want to kind of see this? I think it could be interesting and I have not been liking the 2 forwards formations thus far.
Errr looks like higuain has a minor injury and might not play against Milan. Motherfcking injuries...
