I'd say it's damn fine. ...oh, crap, I think we may have just bumped open the '...if it weren't for Seattle' door.
Seattle and LA should both be very good. Chivas should be good. RSL, Chicago, and Columbus should be good (though weather could be a factor). KC will be right around 10k. And than leaves NY. Maybe TFC will bus in about 4k since their playoff hopes are on the line.
Forget Seattle. What about the "If it weren't for FCD going on a winning streak and hosting that double header..."
But, like, you guys are all overlooking the fact that if some teams were averaging lower attendances, the average attendance would be lower. Why does nobody ever point this out every week?
FYI Sounders FC 2009 attendance: Sounders FC to Salute Fans as Record-Breaking Inaugural Season Ends At 6:30 p.m., the Sounders FC ownership group will reveal and dedicate a permanent installation to recognize original season ticket holders on the northwest wall of Qwest Field, adjacent to the NW ticket windows.
So i guess this wasn't too far off.. http://mlsrumorsrumors.blogspot.com/2009/08/breaking-sounders-to-hoist-attendance.html
Dig the plaque or whatever the "permanent installation" consists of. A banner would be a little too self-congratulatory in my opinion(even for us Sounder fans! ). Not to mention I don't think we want to be emulating anything having to do with the WNBA.
No way there was that many in the stands, but I'm sure plenty of people who bought the tickets beforehand decided to stay dry indoors. This is a good number right? Weren't many predicting around 15k-16k for the Chicago game?
17.5 is good in my not expert opinion since it was 50 and and raining. It looked like there were a lot of people stanting out of the rain.
Considering that the Fire probably sold about 100 walk ups on a miserable day like today, I'd say 17,500 is pretty decent. Impossible to tell if that number was legit or not as many, many people said "F it" and stayed home out of the rain and wind and cold.
"Realfeel" was 38, and it was miserable, but I was impressed by the numbe rthat cam out, I was expecting 5,000 but we had a good 12,000 in the stands, with good weather we may have approached a selllout. 17.5k tickets sold is certainly legit by my view.
Like driving an unwelcome relative to the airport to make sure they get on the plane, I would gladly attend the NY game to revel in the satisfaction that comes with the knowledge that it's their last one in Giants Stadium. Not to mention to happily piss on the accursed edifice and (figuratively) the NJSEA on my way out. Hell, it oughtta be a sellout.
Unfortunately, weather is supposed to be pretty terrible for New York tomorrow. 5 of my friends who were going to come from Brooklyn have bailed out. I'm sure many other people are doing the same. I think the walk-up crowd will be near 0. Still, there might be a bigger number than expected because of a lot of unused tickets that were exchanged for this game (whether they actually get used or not).
Well........the upper decked was packed to the gills and the concourse underneath probably had 500 people watching from there. So 12k seems about right. But I guess they sold more and people decided to stay home. They missed a hell of an own goal though.
