That left a bad taste in my mouth. I think it has something to do with that red on Ching.

I hope Ching uses next week to rest up for the playoffs.

Another game we dominated and found a way to not win.

MLSNet has the card on Ching listed as violent conduct. Anyone know why?

Remember that time we dominated yet another game and could not find the net.

Can we do finishing practice please?

While I am in an all-time shitty mood.

Why the hell did Dom sit on all the subs? Oduro changed the Dynamo game plan once he came in. Landin, Ching and Mullan all looked done at 70 minutes.

Ching got carded for bad mouthing a bearded woman on the field. Where was the yellow for taking Clark's ankle out time and time again? On a side note if we can ever get our cards in order its time Ching becomes and off the bench player for a good while. After the first half he pretty much died off until he got sent off. It seems to be a consistent thing coming from him lately.

Highly unlikely we'll even have home field in the first round now.

On the other hand home field in the first round doesn't mean much.

Scenario for winning the West requires:

We beat Chivas on the road AND
Chivas doesn't beat Chicago on the road AND
LA doesn't beat San Jose at home.

EDIT: we don't need Seattle to screw up.

Seattle is on 44 points with one game left and we have 45. A win over Chivas should make their result meaningless, yes?

    What?

    45 CUSA (2 games)
    45 LAG, HOU (1 game)
    44 SEA (1 game)

If we beat Chivas then...I have no idea what that does to the tie breakers, but Seattle can't catch us.

Yep, I edited. We do however lose the tiebreaker to the Galaxy and need them to falter at home.

FWIW I'd much rather finish third than fourth because if you win in the first round, you still have almost a 50/50 chance of hosting the conference final.

We do not have a good record in LA over the years and I don't want to play a one-off there if possible.

The funny thing is...I'd rather play anybody other than Seattle in round 1, and anybody at home round 2. Those are the only considerations I have.

Not to go all Rickker here, but we are freaking terrible. The first half was decent, but in the second half we reverted right back to the crap form the team has been in for months now. I haven't been as pessimistic about this team, well, ever.

And not that it's news to anyone, but Oduro is completely brain dead. He had Berhalter left in the dust, and he takes a dive? Not even in the box? What a freaking moron. That guy never ceases to amaze me with his ability to find new ways to screw up good situations. Freaking donkey.

    Tony Caig.

Though Tony has scored more goals than Oduro.

BTW, I was very happy that Oduro got a yellow for diving, I hope he cuts it out now.

First of all, we didn't lose. And we could have easily lost. Our defense was rock-solid against Beckham and Donovan and company. And that's worth noting. If our defense has been a little shaky recently, as many have alleged, it certainly wasn't true today.

Second of all, we created the bulk of the great scoring chances. If their goalie hadn't been on fire, we would have won at least 2-0.

Remember we have very little depth at striker, and Landin is still a work-in-progress. Landin had that one amazing shot that was probably our best offensive display for the whole game.

Ching has been kind of quiet lately. Hopefully he will kick it in gear in the playoffs and Landin will continue to develop quickly like he has been doing. We have nobody else right now who has been rising up in the offensive department. So we're going to need some great stuff from these 2 guys in the upcoming weeks if we're going to avoid a repeat of last year's playoff debacle.

I like your post. And I liked the game too, I thought we played really well and you can't blame the lack of goals all on bad finishing some of it comes down to bad luck too. And we never get breaks it seems, a lucky bounce our way.

And not to harp on the refs, but all those off sides could not possibly have been right. Some of them were, but some seemed perfectly onsides. I think the sidelines judge had the sun in his eyes.

Interesting that many of you feel like we dominated the match.

I feel the exact opposite. In my opinion, we never got a hold of the midfield and never really troubled their backline at all. Sure they made some great saves on their end but I think they could have gotten a goal at some point.

I felt it was a very even match to be honest but it was very disjointed. There never seemed to be any rhythm to it at all.

Never saw why Ching was given the card but I guess we can kiss the Fair Play award goodbye :D

Geez, what is that now? 7 reds in 7 matches? I guess we'll get to see Weaver and Landin up top against Chivas USA next weekend.

First half was pretty good. LA had a chance or two but the Dynamo seemed to have a few more. Second half was hard to watch. Dynamo had an opportunity to score a scrappy goal but Ricketts made a very good save. I thought the defense played very well for the most part and was more organized than I have seen in quite some time...for the entire 90 minutes. LA defense was organized too though. They played a high line against our slow forwards and we couldn't get behind them without straying offside. They tried the same thing last year but last year, they didn't have the talent to pull it off properly and we drubbed them 3-0. This year, they do have the talent. That meant that we had to get speed out of the midfield but that only happened once that I can remember when Holden got loose, kinda screwed up his opportunity, but Mullan came in and put a shot on goal. That was the only time we threatened LA's high line.

Overall, I think our offense looked void of ideas. Our wide play was lacking (again) and short of trying to beat the offside trap with two incredibly slow forwards, I'm not sure what we were trying to do. At this point, Ching is a liability. I'm not saying we should trade him or anything but it's not earth shattering news to point out that he's not playing well. He hasn't really played well for the Dynamo recently and I think it's a reason why he's lost his spot for the NT. I think his two red cards in 3 games points to the fact that he knows he not playing well although it's not all his fault. Still, high frustration levels is no excuse for getting stupid red cards. Once again, we'll play our next MLS game without a key player.

I suppose anything can happen and maybe the switch will finally turn on next week or at the start of the playoffs. But as it stands now (and really for the past 2 months), this team is playing very, very average football and that's not going to allow them to reach their goals. In fact, I'd argue that of the 8 teams that make the playoffs, the Dynamo might be 6th or 7th best on current form. I think we'll see how much we miss players like Kamara and Ashe. But win or lose, I'll be there at Robertson for the WCSF and hopefully, I'll be able to scrounge up the funds to make it to the away leg too.

Just got back from the game so here are my 2 cents.

    1) This is about the hardest 90+ minutes I have seen us (the Dynamo) play. We dominated possession for at least 65 minutes of the game.
    2) Houston did well to try to keep the ball on the ground in spite of the continual lumping up in the air / out or forward the whole game by the Galaxatives.
    3) The way the referee deferred to Becks and Landon (especially the second half) is exactly why I do not want to play them with home field advantage.
    4) Our defense was awesome! Pat O with one great save, Chewy took the ball from Becks and Lewis I don't know how many times and Cameron just owned, OWNED Buddle and Gordon. He was a beast all over the field. Definitely deserves the USMNT call up. Hinault struggled a bit in the 2nd half esp passing the ball. Bos was solid.
    5) Stuart and Rico just ruled center mid. Davis played defense well and so did Mullan. Mullan gave more spark offensively than the Major. Kovalenko's head was spinning.
    6) Ching and Landin did well the first half but were totally man handled in the second. Ching can't get any room for him self to shoot.
    7) Stott let too many persistent fouls by the Galaxy go by with no cards. The second half we got frustrated and retaliated. That and the fact that there could be no way that we were offside that many times. We gotta do better with beating a high offside trap when their entire defense are slow as traffic cones.

The main reason we didn't win can be blamed on sub par finishing / great goalkeeping by the monster man Ricketts. Mullan and others have to step up and put those in. Wasted umpteen million set plays plays a factor too.

I applaud the boys effort and I am glad to be blessed with a team that plays more possesion than boring and direct with only counters as offense like Bruce Arena's Galaxitives

Oh yeah Oduro's filling Kamara's shoes nicely - NOT! Dumb as a Donkey!

nope, we all noticed it about two weeks ago though

What the hell is going on with Ching? too bad he is gone for the last game. He could go for the MLS record of three in a season. That is going to be a hell of Vegas post season trip with all of the money collected from cards in the team kitty.

Look-Ricketts is the real deal. He is the best goalie in MLS right now. I said something this summer and I am sticking to it. If LA goes deep in the playoffs, this cat should be MVP hands down. Look at how many times this guy has stood on his head and has made some crazy saves this season to salvage ties for his club, and those ties have them where they are now-poised to win the conference. He'll never win it because he's a keeper, a no name one at that. But he should win it. That being said, makes me feel a little better about us not finishing.

I talked to Glenn before the match-what did I say Glenn? "has tie written all over it", I think I even said 0-0.

watch channel 2 tonight. The Chris Wragge, pretty boy replacement, was interviewing some LA and HOU folks at the match. I kept heckling him about more soccer on Sports Sunday. Maybe that is why he didn't want to interview me. If it had been Steve Mark, and I had some Dynamo punch in me.....that makes for some great interviews-right Dynamo Dave and Dre?

Thank God they took that 2006 WCF interview off You Tube.
