Had the opportunity to take control. Eff it up with a 0-0 yawner ... A win against Columbus away next week anyone? [gulp]
not exactly a stirring farewell to our strikers coach. fairly representative of our form this year, though. we were fortunate not to lose and not to be without Reis next week.
You call that a yawner? We were pressing for a goal all game, and Chicago ws trying to burn us on counter attacks. It was an exciting game, but was a game that sums up our entire season. We.. can... not... score. We are now in 9th place at the moment, tied with TFC but lose the tiebreaker. This was the game we needed to win, and with the tie, we now need TFC to drop points, and also beat the best team in the league at home. Good bye playoffs. RRRREV IT UP
Until the Revs: Get at least 2 top class professional strikers; Get a talented central midfielder who can control the ball and distribute; and Play on a field with actual green grass They will always struggle to just make the playoffs and be very unpleasant to watch on that hideous turf. Folks, that's not soccer we were watching.
Colorado and Columbus arn't doing us any favors letting Dallas and DC have the lead currently. RRRREV IT UP
Basically the Revs need draws in every other game tonight, but by only getting 1 point in our last 2, I don't think anything's going to help.
2nd half, me and the guy next to me counted bad REV passes (pass to the other team, pass out of bounds, throw in to the other team, goal kick to the other team, pass so far past the defense no one could ever run on to it, etc.). We got to 64. I was actually surprised it was that low. We didn't count for Chicago but they didn't seem much better. I think both coaches were happy to settle for a tie.
Right now it looks like every game will end in a way that every MLS team is essentially tied in points (well, the top 12 teams anyway). Did someone tell the revs that they should aim for 40 points this season? It sure feels that way. They seem to have done everything possible to make 40 points and only 40 points.
This is pretty unbelievable, there is currently a 4 way tie for the 8th and final playoff spot RRRREV IT UP
1. Settled for a draw. or 2. Tried our best - played the best football we have played in weeks - didn't score, because we (still) don't have enough attacking/scoring talent. I'm going with 2. Fire played with McBride, Blanco, and Rolfe and got nothing. I don't want the season to end, but we need to reload in the worst way. Imagine we had JPA and Dane Richards starting (or pick a different two) instead of Dube and Nyassi. Imagine we had GBS starting instead of Osei, and played the old 3-5-2. We're not far off, and yet we're done.
Lets get the Draft discussions going early. Strikers, strikers, and more strikers. And maybe an Attacking Midfielder or two. If this team signed signed a DP for one of those 2 roles, they could be real threat. It seemed like all season we just missing that one guy who can put the ball in the back of the net, a guy who could be quiet all game and then blast one in, a real game changer. That color commentator tonight seemed to know, we should sign him. RRRREV IT UP
And in this game, good for one hard shot straight to the keeper. At this point I don't want to make the playoffs. Our ONLY hope for change is if the FO acknowledges we have hit rock bottom and missing the playoffs should send that message
More likely is that Nicol will draft 3 more defenders so he can play 11 defenders at a time - you can never have enough defenders and you wouldn't want to risk ruining the chemistry by having big headed strikers on the team.
Shhyeah, and monkeys might fly outta my butt. Taylor needs to return from The Case Of The Mysterious Head Injury, that is about the only bright light on the horizon I see (along with the return of Albright). We'll draft more kids who may (Dempsey, Parkhurst) or may not (too many to list) help. I hope Janny stays, I'd like to see him up front with Taylor. But The Perfesser's wishlist is sadly just that. A wishlist. This whole operation is asleep at the wheel. Its Pats season, would the last staffer going to answer their phones please turn off the light? Thanks.
Uh, "Kaptain", repeat slowly after me. TT is not coming back. To have had a mysterious head injury for almost a year and not get an accurate diagnosis or, obviously, a functional treatment regimen and then try to play would literally be insane. You must have seen all of the reports of NFL players in their 30s and 40s who got their "bell rung" a few too many times and now have early onset dementia. If I were TT -- or his doctor -- I'd be thankful for the 100 goals and the honor of being the best Revs player they ever had, and find a job in in the game in some other capacity.
So right now with all the teams at 39 points, according to MLS - we are on the outside of the playoffs, but I am not sure on what tiebreaker: http://web.mlsnet.com/standings/index.jsp?standings=playoff
