so at this family party yesterday, the uncles were drunk. there was this guy that used to play for toluca there (friend to my uncle). this is not a lie, es la truth verdadera. an injury got him out of soccer, now he works with the houston dynamo, i think.

    ANYWAY

one of my uncles asked why jonathan was called to the NT when he hasnt done anything to merit. this toluca guy said that Zizinho paid a huge amount of money to aguirre's people to get him there. im said "boonkers." he then started lecturing how many things in mexican soccer are bought, corrupt and what not. he even talked about this one deal between the united states and mexico. where the latter was to let the former defeat them for the next ten years. the purpose was to make the united states' soccer grow. it is possible that mexico's condition that they would not lose in mexico.

so i again i was bonkers... but then i thought... maybe thats why aguirre made that dumb ass move in the world cup. maybe he was forced to lose that game. we were pretty much dominating that game until he took out ramon morales (i think i could be wrong).

i dont know.. well, i do know something, all i know that last night that table sounded like an episode of futbol picante.

i for one dont want to believe that our futbol is ********ed up. i want to believe.

Back in the day, when I first started paying attention to Mexican soccer (pre-1986 World Cup), the discussion was of the role the rivalry between TV Azteca and Televisa in shaping club and, by extension, national team selection. This was pre-cable, when the two networks controlled (virtually?) all broadcasting, and pre-Mexicans abroad (except for Hugol).

That's complete BS, when it comes to other things, then yeah Mexico would be pretty much corrupted. But when it comes to soccer straight out that's BS. Nevertheless, suppose that guy is right, well gee he might as well tell us about area 51, the meaning of life, and to top it off...................................whats up with the real deal with the year 2012?????? Im sure he knows since he's cool like that man:rolleyes:

A good source once told me that many, if not all futbol players, have a fake birth date. They do this in order to knock off a few years so that their futbol careers last longer; they squeeze the juice out of that lemon 'til the last drop.

TV Azteca did not come into the picture until 1993. That was the year when the state sold off Imevision. Imevision eventually converted into TV Azteca.

However, Imevision did not have a lot of power before 1993. Imevision lacked funds. One of the reasons why reporters like Joserra, who use to work for Imevision, hate Televisa is because of the power they had.

It is hard for me to believe that Zizihno paid a lot of money to have his child on the NT.

I have heard conflicting stories that he has had financial problems and that one of the reasons he tries to 'meddle' in his children's affair is to charge a fee.

However, without any proof, it is all stories meant to sell newspapers.

Its hard for me to believe Zizinho paid a lot of money when I believe that Jona is talented enough to at least be on the bench. If you want to start a conspiracy I would start one about the FMF paying the Dos Santos Family to have their sons play for mexico and not brazil or spain.

    I think that is far-fetched.

If I am an FMF executive and I had Zizihno in my office and he told me, "pay me X amount of dollars and my son will commit to Mexico."

You know what I would say? I would say the following, "Brazil has over 1000 professional football players. They have hundreds of players playing in top leagues around the world. There is only 1 world cup every four years and only 23 players get to play for a national team. Go do the math. Have a good day and brigado"

IMO, the main reason Jonathan Dos Santos got caped into the first team is because he is a very marketable player and the Tricolor is a very marketable product in the United States.

It is no secret that Tricolor fans get a hard-on everytime there is a Mexican abroad. And not only is Jonathan playing abroad, even if it is in reserves, but he is playing for Barcelona which is currently atop of the world.

Jonathan is currently 19; same age Guardado was when he was brought into the national team. If anything Jonathan will be groomed to be one of the next Tricolor stars. If Lavolpe wasted three spots on Chiquis Garcia, Cabrito Arellano, and Cludio Saurez then I would not be surprised if Jona was taken to South Africa and serve a much better purpose..

As far as the corruption in Mexican soccer; well the movie Rudo y Cursi hit on many of the things that go on but that is something that happens in almsot every professional league. And I do not wish to recall the WC 02 round of 16 game against the nads. Aguirre did have a major brain fart. While there is much room for speculation, specially with FMF signing their soul to SUM, without any concrete evidence I would rather not speculate..

Thanks - couldn't remember the name of the network and guessed Azteca as one of the two biggies. Televisa then . . .

I think there are probably shady deals going on with the hiring of some players and coaches. But that's about it.

I don't believe Zizinho payed anyone to have Jonathan called up. I think it has more to do with his potential. I wouldn't mind if they take him to S,A for that matter.
