That would be awesome if it does happen. It can only help fill RBA and the more big stars and quality players in this league the better.

No way it happens. Henry still has a few more years left for top European teams. Maybe after WC 2014.

Is this article citing a rumor/speculation/idle banter...or something based on credible sources that is likely to happen?

If this happened, he would easily be one of the best strikers ever to play in MLS. We could be talking about an MLS Golden Boot prospect in his first full season.

He would turn 37 a month or so after the 2014 WC. At that point it'd be a waste for an MLS team to get him. He's not a Schelotto type player to be super effective playmaker as an old man. I love me some Henry, but he aint gonna be on the French team as a striker at that age. I wouldn't be one bit surprised to see him in a Red Bull uniform in 2010.

********, they'd better start finding some cheap, quality role-players. Frosting on a turdcake doesn't fool anyone in this league.

No, won't happen. If he joins after the World Cup, after playing the full Euro season, he won't play for NY until August. In 2011, it would certainly be possible.

Assuming of course this is all true.

Well Henry is barely playing for Barca right now so I doubt his fitness will be much of a problem if he plays for NYRB right after the World Cup. He's only appeared 3 times so far for Barca.

I might be wrong, but I thought the daily mail was thought of as a joke of a paper.

You don't understand. NYRB needs to play out the excuses for a long time. Right now New Yorkers can use the excuse that there are no big stars on the team (sorry JPA) for not attending games. Once the team signs Henry, New Yorkers can then use the excuse that they need 2 or 3 more stars before attending.

If NYRB followed your advice, that critical second stage of complaining would be lost. ;)

Maybe they can sign A-rod and Lebron to play for the NYRB, to bring a little star power to the team.

No. They are Americans. Only imported stars for the Big Apple.

Red Bull needs to sign someone who matches their brand image. I think they should go for Tony Hawk.

Lets not fool ourselves with our own insight either - Dallas was dead and buried 10 weeks ago. That same team is now shit hot.

I frickin hope so. There is no other player in the world that I would rather have in the league than Henry, because of his star power and skill. Most effective possible signings for MLS (not saying their likely to happen, just players they theoretically could attract):

    1. David Beckham
    2. Ronaldinho
    3. Ronaldo
    4. Henry
    5. Rafa Marquez
