This is great. The best part about these Notebooks is that it makes me feel like I've gotten to know the team, coaches, and staff without really knowing them (ie. I've not met hardly any of them). They capture all of the things that make us love the team so much, not to mention details of the games. So to be able to relive that whenever we want is great.

From what I understand, Sirk's printed these himself, so buy one for Granny and the neighbors.

A forward by my man King Dante? That is worth the price alone.

What does the Crew charity do anyways?

Among other things, part of it is the "Kicks for Kids foundation" which allows underprivledged kids (I think that's right) to attend Crew games.

    Any price on the book?

BTW - well done to Sirk!

Thanks everyone. I hope it is a keepsake that all of you will enjoy.

The book is $20, and it's 480 pages. (It's officially 480, but I think it breaks down to 456 pages, plus all the non-numbered stuff and the roman-numeraled stuff like Dante's foreword and the preface, etc.)

puttputt- The CSF has that kicks for kids thing, they raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, they fund referee scholarships for local 14-18 year-olds, and they do all sorts of miscellaneous local stuff. The plan all along was to donate some of the money to charity, and the Crew were such an immense help to me with this and never asked for a single thing, so I decided I wanted a chunk of the money on books sold through the Crew to go the CSF so that they in turn could do something good in the community under the club's name.

Pauncho-- Amazon discounts are at their own discretion to try to get their slice of the market on popular titles. My guess is that a self-published project this limited in scope probably isn't going to be on their radar in terms of trying to undercut the competition.

Oh, and a note about Amazon. I effed up and made it immediately available on September 30 instead of waiting until the end of this month, but didn't realize it for a while. I then tried to make it unavailable but I don't think it has happened yet. I have come to learn that there can be 15 day lag in changes with Amazon. I have since made it available again, but now I don't know if those two changes immediately cancel each other out, or if there's going to be a weird point sometime this month where it will be out of stock for several days due to the lag between those two different changes. I am an idiot.

That was tongue-in-cheek humor, of course. The underpoint was that I had decided to buy the book and checked the usual other sources, and would actually like to buy it from buy.com because that would get me over the $25 minimum for free shipping (I am such a hardcore cheapskate) along with a book on economic history I want.

Massive job, Mr. Sirk. Any meet-the-author/readings/book signings in the works?

Just to save you guys some reading:

Apparently Guille can miss a penatly which questions his divinity. The Crew organization trys to keep this under wraps, but, a brillant symbologist named Sirk figures out the symbolism of the word massive in a oil painting of Dwight Burgess with hair and the race is on to contain the info. The FO then sends out an albino big nosed Kiwi with a big bald black man as his handler to stop Sirk from revealing that Guille is just a man that can miss a penalty every once in a while. Meanwile TFC fans are despreatly trying to get the news out in hopes that some time in the next century or two they might actually get a win against Columbus. They wind up pissing on themselves on a metal fence and get tasered to death by CPD in their attempts. In the end, Sirk winds up getting two footed by a man named O'Red Card and wakes up with the realization that the missed penalty was just a hoax to test the devotion of the Crew faithful and that Guille is in fact God.

I'd wait for the movie if I were you guys.

Congrats on the book man. I will be picking this up, one way or another.

It's been a long ride since the Foreman Soccer Journal.
