I've been making videos for a little while, I'm not as good as arkjayback but I think I'm alright. Here is my latest one. I have some more USMNT videos on my account too. Enjoy.

Not a bad video, no need to make concessions to that cheap showman, arkjayback.;)(just joking arky j)

One completely taste based criticism, the soundtrack. Straight edge Chicago Punk-Rock just doesn't make for a good highlight reel. My opinion.

    Well done though.

It's not my kind of music either, but I thought the words and rhythm of it went with the premise of the video.

    Cold.

I'm not gonna get cocky and act like I'm the bestest video maker everest and just throw out suggestions, but I could add some observations if you'd like . . ?

    1. Choose the right genre of music. Picking the right music is important and can determine the attitude of the video. Whenever I tried to make a more defensive video, I went with rock music. "Epic" battle between US & Mexico at Columbus, I went with music from the "300" soundtrack. Tricks and flashy plays work better with hip hop or rap music. Showing the emotion for Bornstein's goal, I used music from "August Rush." Nothing wrong with experimenting though, as a lot of people didn't like "H Series ep. 2" because of the electronica music.

The choice for the Michael Bradley video fit his personality, but the Jozy Altidore video's song was a bit fast paced.

    2. Fit the highlights to the music. To give the highlights greater impact, the pace of the highlights needs to fit the pace of the music. What you've done sometimes (and I've done too) is just put what feels like the right kind of music and then just thrown highlights in there.

But in my better and more popular videos, the highlights flow a lot better. "J Series vol. 4" - Davies' goal, Guzan's save, and Kljestan's bender all fit the speed of the music. "Insant Classic" - the music really built up to Dempsey's goal; and once it was there, I slowed it down to add a bit more anticipation, and sped up during the celebration.

    3. Less replays. It took me a while to figure this out too. I always had the attitude that my videos were really glorified highlight reels, so I wanted to show replays to fully display how good they were. But people have short attention spans. Rarely is the video able to flow as well if there is more than one replay of one highlight, and even then, people don't want to see replays of every highlight.

    4. Have a Big Finish. Keep the viewer watching til the end. So many YouTube videos are very anticlimactic. TV shows do it all the time; its so much more effective if the viewer wants to rewind it and watch it again and again. Not all videos can be this way, but its better when they are.

"J Series vol. 1" ended with Dempsey's goal, "J Series vol. 4" ended with Altidore's goal to go up on the Netherlands, "Americans Abroad" ended with Dempsey's goal to seal a draw with Chelsea, "All the Above remix" ended with Jozy's goal to beat Brazil, and Charlie's video ended with some of his more memorable celebrations. The ending can be a signature moment as much as any other part of the video.

It might look like a lot, but its really not. Its the minor differences that make one video better than another. I was just trying to be as specific as possible so you could see what I mean.

Thanks for the tips. As for the music in the Jozy video, Youtube pulled my original song so i just picked one from their list. I'll try to incorporate the other stuff in next time. I only have Windows Movie Maker though so I don't really know how to do the advanced stuff.

    I only have WMM too.

I have a bit more advanced program that i use, but its so much more complicated that I'm just more comfortable with WMM. I mainly use the other program for making cooler looking titles or some simple effects.
