As most of you know Bolivars owner is good friends with Barcelonas top brass and last year they signed some type of cooperation agreement. Normally these things lead to absolutely nothing but looks like thanks to the personal relationship Marcelo Claure has with Barca that they will get some things done.

Bolivar will travel to Spain and play a friendly against Barca between november 11 and november 19.

The most important thing is not the games they play with Barca but the youth academy set-up and cooperation and exploiting it to its full potential.

    http://www.eldeber.com.bo/2009/2009-10-16/vernotadeportes.php?id=091015225458

"Claure viajó desde Estados Unidos con varios fines, entre ellos cerrar acuerdos con el Barcelona, no sólo el que tiene que ver con la presencia del equipo celeste en Europa, sino con los proyectos para crear una escuela de fútbol en Bolivia.
La celebración del partido amistoso entre el F.C. Barcelona y Bolívar fue pactada para disputarse entre el 11 y el 19 de noviembre próximos.

New info I just read on Facetas..............
    http://www.facetasdeportivastv.com/nota.php?id=8194

Wow, if all this stuff actually goes through it would be great for Bolivar and for our futbol in general.

How Barcelona will benefit from this is very marginal. Sure, their brand will now have a heavier presense then before, but other then that, there is not much benefit. A few shirts will be sold and other attire. It's not a good market to have a business in given per capita #'s.

Barcellona is willing to go (give) head over heals for the Bolivar Owner. His business generates more then $100,000,000 a month! This dude is filthy rich. He earns more then BOlivia overal. Let's hope he has children that will put HIS money in good use in BOLIVIA when this dude dies.

Barcellona wants this guys money. That's all. If he was just a regular millionaire, Barcellona wouldn't swallow soo much. Dudes a Billionaire! Barcellona will swallow whatever Claure asks them too!

Yes, basically. Barca' want his money, and he wants the best for bolivia.

    Fair trade right? :p

But its good to see that they well take some pen and paper and try to copy what system barca has out there youth wise, which is one of the best/if not the best in the world. Argentina has the talent/brazil but they have the money and the structure to make very very good players like Xavi for example.

With that said, I hope bolivar can do the same, and with this deal like wtih Tahuichi and MLS, we can get players sooner or later playing in Spain through barca or other teams scouting bolivia through the idea that barca have bolivians running through...

This on its own can bring our country FINALLYthe attention that our footballers need. Hopefully the U17 kids try to get to talking wtih Claure, maybe he can put them on to some connections he makes through Barca....

And yes, the team that will probably play Bolivar would be a mix of like maybe 1-2 starters, and the rest teh second team... which should still be better or match bolivar. :p

Expect to see Bojan whoop bolivars ass.

I think you're way off the mark.

To me this isn't a situation where Barca is trying to expand their brand ala MLS. Barca already is a dominant force in latin america, and it's not about wanting Claures millions. Being a multi millionaire is not what it used to be, there are more than enough millionaires around the world that Barca doesn't have to pander to any millionaires wishes.

To me this is more about Claures personal relationship with Barcelonas top guys and with Barcas over all message of "mes que un club". If it was all about money do you really think Barca would have UNICEF slapped across their chests and do all the work they do with the UN and different non profit orgs.

    ^^Right.

This is basically i guess barcelona helping bolivian soccer overall, because of the personal relationship.

Now whether cdlaure is going to invest some dough into barca has yet to be seen, but dont be surprised if he pays back the favor somehow.... Cause arent they like the 'publics team' where you can own a share of the team to a certain extent?

Whatever the reasons maybe, I just like the idea that Claure is trying to make Bolivian futbol what it should and deserves to be.

I think i said this before, but he was a intern/assistent to Loayza when he was the president of the FBF. I think in return as a favor after getting a hold of Bolivar he made him president.

I think he genuinely is not corrupt and really wants to help, and get our country back in check soccer wise, starting with bolivar. Don't be surprised if he does run for president.

    Me too! :)

Dudes not a multi millionaire, he's worth Billions. Ofcourse this has to do with money.

There's a certain degree that "friends" will do for one another. THese guys think with dollar signs. Barcelona has little to gain with branding their brand in Bolivia. Trust me, Barcelona wants something from Claures, and Claures isn't doing anything unless Barca does their end. Even MLS is kissing alot of ass to get Claures as an investor.

Why? Him being a Billlionair, will likely encourage him to believe that Bolivia should have a free market economy. While it's ideal, and should be a goal, Bolivia simply isn't ready for that. Bolivia needs more people with an education first before they have businesses come in to invest and train.

I'm not an EVO fan, but I am a fan for Socialism. THis is the only form of government that will help increase literacy and education in our mother land. Increasing Education is key if BOLIVIA wants to go forward. With a free market economy, rich gets richer, poor gets poorer (Politicians bow to business owners more then the general public).

Other the Claure being a futbol fan, and a savy business man, I need to hear more of what he intends to do for the "Majority" of Bolivia.

Let's try to keep the thread on topic and save our personal political views for other less civilized boards:cool:

Back on topic. Quinteros is OUT!

    http://www.eldeber.com.bo/2009/2009-11-10/vernotaahora.php?id=091110134155

I'm very surprised I didn't see that coming. The weird part is that Bolivar is apparently still traveling to Spain to play friendlies against Espanyol and Barca, all this with a new coach or perhaps even interim coach.

Why no love for Quinteros? He won two of the three championships his team was involved in. The next guy they bring in has to at least get out of the group stage in Libertadores or his head will be on the chopping block.

It has happened because a riff between Quinteros and Claure (damn fool). He is having the dan snyder effect, where he brought on a player he liked to bolivar, him not getting playing time has caused a problem between coach and owner.

Quinteros said he doesnt care if hes the owner, he is the coach and what happens on the field is up to him. With that said, he rubbed claure the wrong way, and claure right back threatened to let him go, Quinteros said, 'i got offers in peru and others to keep coaching', and Claure said 'i have a replacement for you in Santiago Escobar (Pelaez's old assistent, Pelaez was bolivars ex coach a year or 2 ago)'.

As a result Claure's ego, and meddling has messed up the relationship with Quinteros, and too we will lose our best central defender, Schiaparelli who said he came with Quinteros and will also leave with him if he got let go.

What a big mess, going to play probably the biggest friendlies in our clubs history with out our great coach that brought us back to the top after being shit for the past couple of years.

Which player was the one that Claure and Quinteros disagreed on?

I can see both their points, I mean it is Claures team and money on the line, but at the same time Quinteros probably feels that he knows more about futbol than an owner.

By the way I hear Vladimir Soria will be introduced as your new head coach and not that colombian dude. What do you think about Soria, is this a good signing for you guys.

If that is the case, then yes good move, because he is a fan favorite not a 'unknown' and will surely be a easier figure to listen to over say that colombian escobar that none of the team knows/ looked up to growing up. Soria will hopefully do good with this team. I hope he's been keeping up with us and doesnt just jump in with his eyes closed.

With that said, good move with who ever hired Soria, surely the sting wont be as bad...

Its a argentine.... i forget his name though.

    Edit: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Francisco_Diego_Maciel

He plays on the right instead of Hoyos...

This still makes me sad, Schiaparelli will be gone with this move of quinteros to god knows where. He is FOR SURE the best defender in bolivia centrally, right now!

And looking at the guy claure brought, on paper, he seems good, but maybe quinteros didnt see it? Regardless, this is not a good move for our club... internal conflict.
