Perhaps if you got the FO involved in distributing the pamphlets and flashing something on the big screens it would work. But I have to worn you, don't be surprised if it doesn't. This has been done before. Not at Metro/Red Bulls games, but the NJB did do something similar for a US Nats match back in 2001. Needless to say it didn't work.
hey man,im down for that.. my cousins are all crystal palace fans in england.. i would love to bring that intensity to here. hit me back.
That was a one of situation. I don't expect it to take off right away, but it should grow game to game if the handouts are given out every game. Eventually you won't need to do the handouts. [fingers crossed]
expensive for the company he works at, where he will be staying an extra hour per day making copies on the corporate copier
I'm so excited to hear the feedback being so positive! Thank you to everyone! Now, for all those interested in helping, please PM me, as I've sent out a lot of messages the last few days and am starting to lose track of things. If I can get incoming messages I can sort them out easier. Any contributions to the song and chant list must be accompanied by a willing volunteer to help distribute, so please keep that in mind. Any supporter groups looking to get some of their material on, please pm me as well and we'll see what we can't work out!
yea no doubt. giants stadium dosen't hold the sound in too well. when we (gss) sat in 117 last year. we rarely heard esc and those guys were singing and chanting their hearts out. rba is designed to hold the sound in and i'm very intrigued as to how loud this place could possibly get.
I have a question : did all the supporter groups will unify in one section in the stadium as like as section 8 in Chicago ? I think this will be a great way to support the team instead of several groups scattered here and there !!
i believe 132 and 103 are also included in the supporters' section, although i don't know of any SG's that are planning on setting up shop there
And what about the group sales sections in the both ends ? is it has a separate purpose from supporters sections ?
They are for large groups of fans not involved in supporter's organizations, such as youth soccer teams.
Huh? Depending on your definition of profanity, there are quite a few words used in EPL supporter's chants that aren't allowed on regular american t.v. Plus, isn't it true that there is no ban on a certain word that begins with the letter F on Irish tv (although not encouraged, it is allowed)?
fyp! Pompey86: Do you want Portsmouth style tifo? Not impressive IMO, just noisy. Protecting children from language is a parents right, even though I personally feel that the act of making the word taboo is what gives it power in the first place. You can't shock someone using the f-bomb if that person uses in everyday language. Having said that, this country is based on freedom of speech, and so the onus falls upon the listener to avoid offensive speech. My own take, most parents I know these days accept the fact that their kids know the words already, and just prohibit the use of the words by the kids, not the hearing of the words. If you find it unacceptable for kids to hear the word, why are you putting them into a situation that you can't control where the word is most likely going to be uttered, whether by a group singing a song or a fan expressing dismay at a perfectly dismal call by the ref? Next point I'd like to point out is that while English speakers may not understand a spanish song, I think if you want the entire stadium to rock, you have to allow for both. Inclusive is much better than exclusive. And I can't imagine anyone finding offense to Ole Ole.
The whole reason I want to get this up and running isn't solely the profanities. I feel that there really isn't a need to use them in chants. I don't hate them, in fact, you'll catch me using them on a daily basis at work. However, to the extent they're used at the games is what I'm not crazy about. As for the English only chants, it's nothing to do with excluding certain folks. I stated earlier, I want an English style atmosphere, which, to my knowledge doesn't include many if any spanish in their chants/songs. I just expressed an opinion, that's all. If while I'm handing these sheets out, and people don't take or participate, then fine, but what goes on them is what I determine should be on them. I took 9 years of Spanish, but would rather hear and sing in English. Just a prefrence.
Given that i am reading this and never got an email back from you I assume this means you will not include a couple Spansih songs like i requested....which of course means you won't get any help from ESC on this.
Looks like someone uses their Jump to Conclusions Mat... Sent you an email hours ago. Take it easy...
No problem. I was just thinking that at least half if not more of the stadium would be spanish. I was thinking you meant the entire audience participating when you said "English style". I guess I was thinking European Style. BTW - I do sing along with the ESC when I know the words, Onion. Maybe I should print out the lyrics to the ones I don't.
That is exactly the purpose this would serve! Everyone would be able to participate. From perenial season ticket holders who, like you, sing only what they know, to youth soccer groups showing up for the first time, but want to be a part of the whole atmosphere.
