All the kids in the sections around me love the goal kick chant. Maybe we can just chant "You s*ck @sshole" the whole game. It can be aimed at the oposing team or ours, depending on the effort on the field.

That is one of our main problems, 14 years in the league and still there are more kids than adults in the stands. Seattle on the other hand looks at least 90% adults judging from the few games I caught on TV.

And many of the one's who are bored are actually the adults. :D

By the way, the kids that people are talking about who are bored and running around are the 8-10 year olds who play at halftime.

The kids who come with their families are season ticket holders in most cases or attend a game now and then, as those kids actually do pay attention to the match.

There is a kid (probably about 11 years old) who sits in front of me in 109 with his dad who is very passionate and vocal about the team, has favorite players and a few he absolutely hates. It has been tough to watch him this season as the team's results have gone from OK to poor to downright awful. I'm sure there are other kids like this scattered around the stadium, but there are usually more who are just out with a youth soccer group and do not really care about the club one way or the other.

There are quite a few of those near me. Two families in particular. One sits across the aisle from us and has two very young boys. Both father and mother are passionate fans. They have attended since before they had a family, and I see them there every game, babes in arms, pregnant, whatever.

Another family has two young girls (3 & 5 ish) who sing all game long. I mean they are singing Ole Ole Ole or Let's go Red Bulls, or even my blind ref chant (for which I appologized to the parents, who both laughed and said they were ok with it.)

And my buddy George brings his 10 year old twin girls several times a year, and they love it. The whole game day experience is more than just a game to them, win or loose.

These are parents, soccer moms and soccer dads, that I'm proud to have in the stands with us.

i bring my 10 year old brother into 101 with me a few times a year and he goes nuts. he sings the full 90 and watches the game intently. and this is a kid who never watched a soccer match in his life before last year.
kids at games is not necessarily a bad thing. kids like my brother and the kids Blue Note and j1m are talking about are the future of this club. The ones that are problems are the ones who come to play at halftime or come with a youth group who have no real interest in watching soccer. but out of those 500 kids there may be a dozen or two who find they really like it and get into it and become real fans, so it's kind of a double edged sword.

That's right, the threads back and so am I.

After a few weeks in seclusion, I've re-evaluated the initial proposal, and with the comments and suggestions made throughout this thread, I've altered how I'm going to accomplish my goal.

Prior to every home game, we (our group) prepare pamphlets of songs/chants that may or may not be used throughout the match, completely spelled out for even the casual fan to join in. Then, throughout the match, different members of the group, wherever they may be sitting in the Arena, begin one of them, with the other members of the group joining in, and encouraging the rest of the fans around them to join as well. All this creating a truly unique experience for an MLS match, and the chanting and singing has been left only to those who are 'in the know'. All chants/songs will be clean, i.e. no profanities, thus allowing even the groups of youth soccer kids and parents to join in. May not be the most intimidating voice, but it will be loud, ringing around the arena.

I think this is the way to go, and have even thought of bringing this to the Front Office, to get these pamphlets distributed in the programs, and lyrics spelt out on the big screen for the first few matches.

Any support would be greatly appreciated!

i think that if the front office is gonna help out with that it should be with the supporter groups songs that have been around for years. the existiing supporter groups deserve to have their songs and chants on the screen or pamphlets. would not be fair to have some new comer and take that from the ones who have been there for years doing that.
(we have songs and chants without profanities too)

    Here's the deal:

This is a project that would be run by my organization. We'd be footing the cost, designing, and distributing these pamphlets. The front office would be in no way tied to this. In an effort to bring a better atmosphere, and to encourage not only the participation of all, but to enhance the experience for all, I would present the idea to the front office, allowing them to enter into a partnership with us. There only position would be one of alleviating the distribution of these pamphlets, and 'educating' the casual fans by broadcasting the lyrics on a large screen. In turn, they would have a first-class experience to coulple with their premeire stadium to increase the sales of their tickets.

If any supporter group wanted 'their' songs on said pamphlets, I would be open to suggestions, and 'donations' to help produces said pamphlets.

Again, this idea is still in its infancy, so any SUPPORT is appreciated. Please, feel free to contact me via this thread or private message.

Dude, you're going to kill yourself in costs trying to do this on your own.

Currently, costs aren't the issue. The issue is garnering support to distribute these. I'm know for a fact that once this catches on, I'll have the other supporter's groups trying to get in on this, as well as the Front Office. The reason I'm posting it on here is to skip the little steps, and trying to get several people on board and get it going. The pamphlets have been designed, songs and chants assembled, I just need to get them printed and out. Who's in???

What are the songs? If you include the big ESC songs i can probably get a bunch of people to help hand them out next season. But we would want to see what it is first before we commit any of our resources to this.

It could be a good idea for all involved.

Haha, this is what I'm talking about! It will be a Great idea!

I would love to put some ESC songs on here, and as I metioned, any help would be greatly appreciated. However, I do have a few requirements for this, as it will be handed out to everyone. As I beaten into the ground, no profanities. Period. No two ways around it. And secondly, not to sound like an ass, but I'd like to keep it all in English. That's all. Easy enough, no?

We can keep this discussion going on here, or through PM. Whichever you (ESC) are more comfortable with.

i think that you should have met with all the major supporter groups and came up with ideas for songs and chants together. ESC has some songsand chants that have been around for a long time- GSS has songs and chants that are beginning to catch on.

i misunderstood what you said- my bad

I apologize if my response sounded hostile, I did not mean it in that way at all. I see what you're saying about meeting with the groups, however, I'm starting this because I don't much care for some of the songs currently in use, and, conversly, really enjoy some of those employed by various EPL teams, and would like to integrate them here.

But as evidenced by several of my responses, I am open to including various groups' chants and songs on this list. I don't intend this to be the end all and be all of ways to support the Bulls, just one way I feel they should be. It is in no way meant to over power, or diminish songs done by other groups. If we here a song or chant in use, we will NEVER try to over power them by starting one of ours.

you might have a hard time getting your songs started then, as ESC is generally singing for the full 90.

    also, i fixed your post.

i'm not saying your idea doesn't have merit, but ESC isn't going to just stop singing every once in a while to let you start up your own songs. they are there to stand and sing and support the team from kick-off to final whistle. i don't see them (us) letting up or changing how they (we) operate just so you can do your thing.

Almost all our major songs dont have profanities in them so that not an issue. As for all English, well i'd rather discuss that in private. Send me what you got by email: aspoulin77@yahoo.com

So here's the deal, mate. I'm not looking for ESC to stop what they're doing, I've stated that before. And I'm not here to replace anyone, or try and show up anyone. I've been to my fair share of matches, and there are breaks in your singing, as minor as they may be. We'll use them, and if it must be, begin at times we see fit. However, with the inclusion of some of your songs, we'll be singing together.

As a nuetral observer, thre are many times during a game that I'm not aware of ESC singing. I sit in 112, just the other side of midfield from 101. Maybe it's just Giants stadium not carrying the sound and you'll be easier to hear in RBA.

Personally, I think distributing songs to everyone is a great idea, regardless of whose songs they are. Having the established supporter groups all in one end is going to require some coordination on everyone's part, but if that gets worked out, the only thing everyone else needs is to know the words.

in truth, there have been some lulls in the noise of late, but when the section is actually full (or has more than the 2 dozen or so that have been showing up the last few games) it's pretty constant.
