I'm a little mistified as to how Bremen is playing Moreno. If i'm not mistaking he had the hot foot in preseason - understanding that it's only preseason - almeida has been hurt and Pizzarro is unmovable at this point. I've seen Pizzarro play and although some here have said they have similar style of playing i think that is no longer true. Marcelo has changed his style since his Cruzeiro days, and it may have to do with what has happened with the national team.

In the nats he was out looking for the ball more and trying to create rather than waiting for the shot on goal. That may make him better (always trying to be positive) and if he can adapat to creating goals rather than just waiting for them (ala Pizzaro) he should fit perfectly to play along side Pizzarro. Does Marcelo had the technique like Conejo? Maybe not but i think it's something he can work on. With him dropping back a bit and enabling touches then it improves his visability as a player.

Let's hope he can change a little and make himself more visible. With that said, can you guys see the change or is he able to change?

I think he has the holding and passing to be a great supporting striker. In fact, i think that will be his role, as it was before with the NT. He was the supporting/holding striker and Botero was the poacher that would finish all his opportunities.

With that said, what happened to that Rolo' guy that was making all the videos? He hasnt posted much.... he always had good clips and info!!!

I always considered Moreno a Luxury Poacher. It's hard to consider him a supportive forward since he poaches soo well.

He does have enough dribbling and passing skills to play internationally, but like most forwards, dribbling is not his strength.

My bad if this is redundant but I thought this update that I posted in the old thread should put posted here as well since the game is today....

Bremen is playing Today around 3pm EST @ Nacional (Portugal). It's their fist game of the Group Stage (L) of the UEFA Europa League. Since Moreno only played a couple of minutes last Sat., I'm guessing (well, more like hoping) that he'll play a lot more minutes in this game. I checked all the ESPN channels and they are not gonna show it but hopefully they will on justin.tv or something. So far the lineups have not been listed on uefa.com.

I mean he is no ronaldinho, but he can dribble, do step overs, hold the ball from defenders, I think he has more than enough skills to be a decent supporting striker, not to mnetion how good he can pass. His time at cruziero showed me that, he often was setting people up also at the run of play.

Yeah. The dude is def. World Class. Not too many forwards can poach as good as him, and dribble well enough for international competition.

I seriously thought he was practically a CLON of PIZZARO when I first heard of him. But then I saw him play I was even more impressed, since I wasn't expecting him to take on defenders with dribbling and passing to fellow forwards. He's not a great dribbler, but he sure doesn't suck either. Definantly has more assets then your typical forward.

We have some pretty talented players comming out of the oven, so we should definantly be in the runnings for a WC position in 2018.

How about 0? Bremen won 3-2 and Moreno came into the 90th minute. Damn, I hope this isn't Shakthar all over again.

Very good article. Its good that the coach sees how playing time will give him that 'confidence' and get a fire under his butt.

Like any younger guy, especially with moreno who seems like a guy that is completely driven on confidence, the coach sees this, by starting him, and letting him play and if i read that right, he played a part in the 1-0 goal they had, which they think will get him to where he should be mentally, and more integrated to the squad.

I hope he gets used to germany, he needs to stay over there, and at werder. It seems the coach must like him alot and have faith as the players do in him. One things for sure, hes at a great team that is completely behind him, unlike shaktar.

Sounds like and from what we've seen in the games in NT he's got a lot of heart and that right now may be what's hindering his adaptation, but hopefully he can use it to work even harder.

Bremen is playing their 2nd game of their group stage in the Europa League. Moreno is listed as a sub. Hopefully, he'll get some playing time.

Here is a link to the video.

It's not pizarro that's keeping him from the starting line up, it's Hunt that's keeping marcelo on the bench.

There's a rumor going around that M3 is not performing well at practices so he gets no gametime. but rumors are mixed since the Media that covers Bundesliga like to stir things up.
He did finally get to start in the DFB Pokal(German Cup) vs. St. Pauli last couple of weeks ago where his performance was noticed by fans.

-few Werder fans are quick to judge and seem to not want his transfer next yr. (but winter isnt even here yet) while most fans have Hope in our Bolivian striker.

I noticed that a fan on the Werder.de forum stated that Moreno appears to be lost on the field, not knowing his position at practice. but we know that he has great natural positioning.

To me it also seems like Thomas Scaaf (DT) is preparing him to play as a supporting striker instead as leading striker. so that might also take time(positioning most importantly). but for him to learn to support or lead an attack will be great. At Werder, he has to take his time and it will come to him. I think he will remain in Germany but that is just my opinion.

also,my feeling is that Moreno is just having a hard time getting used to life in Germany. Acclimatizing to his new surroundings is tough. food, language, lifestyle. There's more things to get used to than in Ukraine. He should just get himself a nice German girl with some...:D

i agree with Dustyvinyl, except withthe comment of him not performing in practice.(i haven't heard that)
To me it seems like the guys that have been there longer are getting their chance, and Marcelo is still waiting for his shot. Believe it or not, competition for starting striker is tough at werder. Cosidering that Pizarro is inmovable. The other guys fighting for that second starting spot are Almeida, Rosenberg, Hunt, newly turned stiker Marin, and Marcelo. So Marcelito has it vey tough in germany, but hopefully they'll keep him so that he can truly get his shot there.

I doubt he'll leave in Jan as his transfer was for 1 year. As far as fighting for a spot as it was said before it's Hunt that's keeping him out. Marko Marin has been playing extremely well as an attacking midfielder, Almeida went out with teh injury and Hunt has stepped in and has been scoring goals.

I think there will always be mixed emotions about every player, but in the end the coach is the one that determines his future at this point. I think initially Marcelo did what he could (scorring goals) in the beginning, now what more can be expected when you're averaging 5 minutes of playing time. I think Bremen is smart enough to have around for a year with the heavy schedulle they have. We have to wait and see how he performs if a player like Hunt or Pizarro go down.

As far as him looking lost, it's more like him running around trying desperately to get touches. That's called Hustling, not - not knowing his position.

Some posters (who claim to go to the team's practices) from the Werder official site forum have been saying this about his play at practice. not particularly about game scenarios.

^^^So the fans see that he is looking for the ball and not being lost? Or the other way around?

Exactly, there isn't much you can expect. It's not even 5 minutes; it's more like 1-2 minutes. He went in this past week in the 89 minute. Well, that's better than coming in the 90th minute I guess. In any case, with that much playing time, there's really no way he can show his worth.
