That requires changing the whole tactic agian...and Pepe won't handle Denmark's midfield alone.
This tactic is good as it is. We need Liedson instead of SImao upfront.

 

CQ has no choice but to play Nani, either upfront or wing. Portugal needs presence in the middle. Simao can't even buy a goal.... Nani will score two. just you watch!

IMHO Queiros botched team tactics again. Your world-class wingers playing in forward positions isn't even half as dangerous as they usually were. You also need more creative Defensive Midfielder maybe Veloso but he wasn't called up. Still you dominate the game and Simao wasted 2 clear cut chances to score. Denmark used their only chance and it is 1-0 You need to play much more faster, now their defenders have plenty of time to mark your players and regain defensive shape when you have posession. Hope in second half we'll see different Portugal.

 

We already knew that from the start.

Portugal need to play Liedson/Nani. Simao is screwing this up, three good chances and cannot buy a goal.

I agree...we need a win not a F'in tie!!! Get some TRUE forwards in there!!! Get Liedson in, get Nuno gomes in.

 

It's a shame seeing a team play such beautiful football (passing + positioning) but unable to score.

It's frustrating. You do need a real striker, indeed. I don't get Queiros at all.

 

If the Pk was awarded like it was suppose to, it would be 1-1, requiring only 1 more goal in 45 minutes. Giving us a wayyyy better chance. So Portugal eliminated Portugal isnt necesarrily true.

 

That's been our problem. Not producing good, solid strikers. Hopefully Joao Aurelio will turn out to be a one, he's playing with the U21 NT.

It's over! CQ is waving the white flag right about now. This guy should be coaching our development program not the first team.

 

Playing well is putting the ball in the back of the net. One of the problems with our game is that we control play but CAN'T finish.

Some observations from the first half:

1.) We are simply taking too much time and need to use our speed to our advantage. When D. loses possession we should be at the other end in three passes.

Why are we not using CR speed? He should not come to our half to get a single ball.

2.) BA fu big time in the goal. The Danish guy controls the ball inside the six with his chest and drops it to his foot and BA still did not close him down. Bad, bad mistake.

3.) Simao, sorry but if you get a free shot at the top of the box you need to make that keeper work. And if you get inside the penalty area, like the one around the 40th, you need to put it in the back of the net.

4.) CR you want to be a great player then you need to perform a this level. Stop shaking your head and get your a## in gear.

5.) Drop Simao bring in Nani and use our speed. At the 60 takes out M
and bring in Maniche.

Liedson's presense hasnt changed a thing. I knew he would be able to change it alone. Nuno Gomes and Nani HAVE to come on!!! Its ALL OR NOTHING GUYS!!!!

 

CQ should tell our guys that the objective of soccer is to shoot away from the gk and NOT at the gk!
