Got an e-mail today from the US Soccer Supporters Club, The U.S. Soccer SC pre-sale, which entitles you to purchase tickets before the general public, will take place from Monday, August 31, 12 p.m. ET until Wednesday, September 2, 2 a.m. ET.

    Tickets options:

    Prices are as follows:

    Price Sections
$110 Club Seats (includes wait service)
    $85 Mezzanine
    $65 Midfield
    $45 Sidelines / Corners
    $35 Endlines

Where would be the best value tix in RFK?

The sideline/corner seats would probably be your best value. The midfield seats are not worth the extra $20. US supporters (including DC supporters groups) will be on the sidelines (left, East, side of the seating map) in the 130/230's. Check to see where Sam's Army, Outlaws, La Bara Brava, and Screaming Eagles are sitting. I'm sure they'll offer some kind of option to purchase tickets in their section(s). Looks like their pre-sales are over, though.

If you're worried about bad weather, the 300 rows on the right (West) side are covered. Mezzanine is nice if you got the cash and want a good view and cover.

If the weather is nice, I actually like sitting in the upper deck. Lots of room to spread out, and you get the "widescreen" view.

Back in the day when I lived in DC, our tickets for DC United were in Row A of section 409. I loved loved loved those seats.

Looks as though the upper deck won't be sold for the WCQ though. I just went on line using my ussoccer passcode and no upper level were available.

I was in the third row of Section 409, Row 3, and I agree that those were the best seats. Up above so you could see the play develop but not that far from the field (as the front of the upper deck is about the same distance from the field as the start of the 300 sections below). If they're not opening up the upper deck that means they'll only have about 22,000 seats for the game because the lower bowl doesn't have seats along either end line. I would imagine the USSF will sell upper deck tickets eventually.

A fellow 409er! Between no lines for the bathrooms and the cart for burrito brothers that nobody knew about, and the fact that those seats were cheaper than lower level but better seats, I loved those seats. It was a bird's eye view to watch Marco Etcheverry come down the field with everyone in the stadium and on the other team knowing he was going to put it on his left foot, but not being able to do anything about it -- just the best. I miss my United tickets.

Where do you all recommend I sit for the the best "widescreen" view available?

    I was thinking 206/07 or 232/233....

I've got a question as well. Is it certain that the upper deck isn't open for this one? I didn't see that on the U.S. Soccer site.

I'm bringing my 8 yr-old, and he is not yet interested in standing with the supporters groups.

My concern is sightlines. I brought him to the Cuba game last year, got seats in the first row in the second section off the field, on the press box side (opposite the supporters). I figured that folks would be sitting on that side and he would have a great view.

The entire first section stood (I generally don't have a problem with this, but it's a different perspective with a little guy), and he couldn't see much of the game. This time I was hoping to sit in the upper deck so he could see the action.

He still had a blast, taking in the atmosphere, but this time I'd like him to see what's going on.

Any advice here would be appreciated - especially if they don't open the upper deck.

    Thanks!

If you want a guarantee that you can watch without someone standing and blocking your view the mezzanine seats would work but they're expensive. Also they're someone closed in if you aren't in the front row, and I consider them cut off from the crowd.

The 100 and 200 sections on the side of the stadium along what used to be the first base line in the old baseball configuration (the quiet side) have a relatively low slope. It was built for people who sat while watching baseball. Also the 100 sections are not very high off the field. As a result, if people stand you'll have to stand to see what's going on if you're in the 100 and 200 sections. There's some steps up to reach the 300 sections on that side which may make it so you wouldn't have to stand. Those seats are also covered by the upper deck so it's dry if it rains. The downside is that the view across the stadium is slightly truncated by the overhang of the upper deck.

The seats on the loud side have a larger slope but I believe the supporter's groups will be on that side so you'd have to figure out where they are and get tickets that aren't right behind them if you don't want to stand. It's too bad the upper deck tickets aren't on sale because those seats have a steep slope and you wouldn't have to stand. The vantage point from above is good and the configuation of the roof up there actually seems to amplify the sound from below.

So much for a simple answer!

I'm 25 years old going with a 25 year old buddy. The last thing we want to do is be sitting down for a USA footy match. We want a good view at a decent price. I'm willing to pay $65 for my seats and so is he.

    So where do we sit?

I thought 206/07 or 232/33 would be good. But I don't know I've never been there. As so I don't really understand what your saying Jimbo, unless there are pictures to accompany it.

I recently watched the US open Cup of DC Utd vs Seattle. (Sorry to bring up bad memories you DC'ers!) But I know that match was played in RFK. I liked the seats of the people waving the huge flags. (as seen on FSC, opposite the coaches and players!). They seemed to be good. Do you recommend those seats?

This question answered will help - according to stadium plan pdf file, where do the coaches and players sit in relation? By 134/35 or 106/07??

Thanks for all the feedback guys.

By the way, what's with the advertisements on this website? Up at the top it's advertising for a Lesbian Cruise in the Caribbean @ $69/night.....thinking of busting out my credit card...

Fair enough, but ads on websites normally have a "target market". So seeing ads for USMNT gear doesn't surprise me. Don't quite see how a lesbian cruise has anything to do with football....

need help from my fellow DC friends on seating for this game.

is there a difference between one side of the stadium to the other?
i guess what i'm asking is one side closer to the field than the other?
if i bought tix in section 128-139, would i be closer to the field than if i bought
    tix in 102-114?

right now i *think* i'm leaning towards tix in 101-103.
are there bad seats in sections (128-139 & 102-114) i've mentioned.
i'm looking at front row tix if that helps.

    thanks everyone.

ps- was a SLC and had a blast. looking to continue the fun in DC!

I tried to buy in the 300's, but couldn't. How'd you manage 333?

    being surrounded by costa ricans?

those are good seats, nice view, but the folks around and in front might be standing.

loud side (130s,230s,330s) is a bit closer to the field.

I'm sure they will open the upper deck IF they approach enough tickets sold.

The front several rows of 232 are Screaming Eagles seats (I'm part of a group that has season tix in rows 1 & 2). You'll have a decent-but-not-great view (good: near midfield; bad: low-angled stands), you'll have to stand the entire match (a plus, in my opinion), and you'll be surrounded primarily by vocal US supporters. If you don't want to stand and sing, and really want to focus on the game, sit in 409. Better view.

I saw they're selling tickets in the upper deck now. Looks like tickets may be selling well enough to warrant opening up the upper deck.

It seems you can't get group of 4 $65 tickets in the lower bowl. Corners are what's offered. They are now offering tickets in the upper deck.

While $65 seats are scarce I got 6 in Section 330 last night and there are tickets in Section 331 today each of which are $45. Neither of those are in the corner and are decent seats. I've been seeing advertisements for the game on FSC the past couple of days so perhaps USSF has determined that the stadium won't fill itself. I also noticed that the CR sections in the upper deck seem to be filling up faster than the US sections. They're up to row 7 in Section 449 for CR fans but at row 3 in Section 447. C'mon USA fans.

Yeah. I realized that the 300s behind the SEs are $45 tickets. They want to fill up the seats opposite the cameras.

I wonder how big the CR section is? I noticed that if you choose lower bowl, best available for US and CR, you get the same section - 213. What's that tell you?

And, you get 331 for US or CR sections if you choose 300 level. Actually, the sections are now described as "general" fan or CR fan.
