Sundhage Names Squad for September WNT Training Camp Congrats especially to Lori Lindsey, who's clearly earned a look based on her play with the Freedom this year.
That is excellent news for Lori. I know this isn't the right forum to necessairly mention this (since she is a Tar Heel), but I am also excited that Ashlyn Harris is getting the call-up.
Sorry, StarCityFan. I didn't know you had already posted the story and posted on the general WPS thread. Congrats to all and Pia is certainly watching WPS closely from the looks of her selections.
Given Pia's accomplishments and skill level on all levels, I'd say that she clearly saw more in Lindsey than Saerubrunn. Pia's reasons do not need to be made public to us. She's done more for the game of women's soccer- especially women's soccer in the USA Sweden- through so many ways, and has created a climate of freedom, belief, success, passion, and more for her players where they know that they can and will be held to greatness while having the options to do what they know. She's helped her players to hone their game and skills in ways that surprised many- including the players. Think what you will, but consider trusting Pia's decisions. She knows how to get the most of each player, and when they do well, they are rewarded. Peace.
Beulah loves Sauerbrunn but had this to say: "As much as I love this player, I’ve got to comment on the weakness and what is probably one of the things keeping her from even being considered at the National Team level – if she’s not clearing a ball, she has no idea what to do with it. Every single time she finds the ball at her feet she immediately looks to drop it off to Whitehill. She’s got to learn to distribute the ball to the midfield herself."
No problem. I think this is at least the third place where the story's been posted, and each has a different focus to the thread. Here it's the Freedom players, on yours it's the new WPS players, on the US forum it's all of them.
