Don't everyone with useful information pipe up at once. The roar is deafening. I did find this on myspace: http://www.myspace.com/rivercityfs

Incongruously, it is in an individual profile, but it is described as a group, a group that is a single, 29-year-old male. Apparently the lad that is organizing it happens to have the average age and marital status and "median gender" of your typical ultra-type person.

Why this is an individual profile and not a group and why myspace (SOOOOO 2005!) and why bubkus on Facebook or here or SSFC supporters sites, I know not.

Nonetheless, God bless the lad. I look forward to meeting him and his mates, one hopes on Sunday for SSFC/USA viewing.

yea, I'm over there during school time. I've sort of given up on finding places or people to watch with. Needless to say, and no offense, but that town drives me nuts. Sure, 10,000 people will show up for a second division Arena Football team game, but you're strained to find a bar/pub where you can watch Sounders or other soccer matches.... Sorry, rant over, and apologies if I hit on a chord of your civic pride.

But, you gotta start somewhere. I wonder if that River City FS is still active, I hadn't heard of them before and I'll try to contact them. There was also one guy I emailed who had organized a viewing thing for the Inaugural match, but I don't think they ever really organized anything beyond that.

I'm down for trying to organize something similar to what RCFS has if they are not active still. I'm particularly trying to find a place to watch away matches, since I drive back for the home ones. But I guess I don't really know where to start. Hit me up with a PM, I guess. We could pioneer this shit.

Unfortunately the people I keep getting in contact with about organizing an official ECS sub group in Spokane aren't really up to the task of being the organizers. Of course they have real lives and jobs they have to work around, so it isn't always easy.

I believe that Waddell's has the direct kick package.

There are some ECS members in the RCFS.

Having an active ECS subgroup would really help promote the team in the Spokane area. Would be nice if some people stepped up to the plate.

I grew up in Spokane, living in Tacoma now. Otherwise I would be all over it.

River City FS is reportedly meeting at the "Satellite Bar" - methinks that must be the lounge at the Satellite Diner - for USA/Sounders viewing tomorrow. I live on the opposite side of the Hoopfest obstacle course, but I will find my way there and check it out.

Let me know how it is - I'll be back there in September - just in time for all those road games...

Sorry - just noticed this. I'm in Cheney, just outside Spokane, and a huge USA/Sounders fan. I watch every game live if I can, taped when that's not possible (and I'm definitely country-before-club, so I will be watching the USA game live today, then watch MLS Match Center's streaming of the Sounders game later this afternoon). I went to PLU in Tacoma for my bachelor's from 2000-03 and went to Sounders games then and loved them, even when there weren't very many fans (definitely not 30,000+ per game lol).

coys26, I'm right with you on the lack of soccer interest around here. Although the Spokesman-Review has been publicizing the team's games more than I thought they would have (obviously nothing close to the west side's coverage - I love the Internet - but more than I expected). The interest in the Sounders - and in soccer - really pales here compared to the west side. I remember seeing somebody on campus wearing a Sounders jersey after spring break (when the opening Red Bulls game was, which I'm assuming he attended) and it just looked out of place here and I have not seen a single person wear one since.

Unfortunately, I'm also not really up to any organizing - normally, I would absolutely love to, but I am desperately trying to leave here (long story), so I don't know how much longer I will be living in the Spokane area, or even this state. But I would be willing to help if there's anything I can do while I am here.

I am presently looking for full-time work. If that search does not take me away from Spokane, I am down for getting stuff going.

I went to the "viewing party" and found two guys watching the U.S. game wearing red TShirts that I later realized had nothing to do with USMNT, made an ass of myself talking to them like they were expecting me and asking the questions about the Spiders, and it turns out they were just two dudes who happened to want to watch the game. Noone turned up for the "party," including its reputed organizer.

I will step up if the work keeps me here.

In the meantime, who has FSN? I need a place to watch the USOC game.

I do if you went to make the trip down to Cheney.

Also, it looks like it will be streamed at http://usllive.com.

I suspect something would work in Pullman for the school year at least. If there are ECS members or others - a decent number, say 8-10 - we could work with a tavern in town for something like the noon kickoff on 19 September on FSC, assuming that the WSU football game is played in the evening (home v. Southern Methodist). Thursday the 20th of August - the home ESPN broadcast - might work, though folks could still be on the West Side and attend the game.

I'm not an ECS guy myself, but it would be fun to connect for a game here on the Palouse. Perhaps this isn't the forum for it, but seeing an E. Washington thread drew me in. :)

There have been a few threads on the ECS boards themselves about Eastern Washington people meeting up. Not sure how its been going. I think the issue is that no one has really taken the incentive to do such a thing. I think it would be a great thing and hope something works out, because there are number of people in that area

Assuming I'm in town, I'd definitely show up to watch a match with other fans.

EDIT - And speaking of Eastern Washington viewing get-togethers, I think a major holdup is that we don't get most matches live. It's hard to organize a viewing when the match is on at 11:00PM, assuming the Mariners games don't run over.

Waddell's Pub on Regal next to Twigs on the South Hill in Spokane is a meeting ground for a few of us 509 Sounders fans. They get all the games live via MLS direct kick from Direct tv. Beer specials for anyone who comes to watch the games.

It's a great time. Wear your Sounders gear. A few of us are ECS members.

I just wanted to let you Spokanites know that it appears tomorrow's game will be live on FSN here in Spokane.

I saw it listed in the Spokesman-Review and contacted their sports department, pointing out what I had figured must have been a mistake (after checking all the TV listings I could find, including http://northwest.fsninsider.com/guide.php, and not finding any confirmation anywhere) only to receive this reply, "Thank you for the heads up on the Sounders game. However, our programming contact at FSN says we will get the game live in Spokane but FSN won't have it live in Seattle."

Well it definitely it isn't on DirecTV here in Cheney. Let me know if any of you get it on FSN and what your provider is, because I'm curious if it is something that just applied to cable systems.

With that said, I'm watching on MLSnet.com - go Sounders! (I unfortunately could not make it out to that meet-up today, but hope to later in the season)

The game was on Comcast cable on FSN live at 1:00. We were at Waddell's and it wasn't on DirectTv's FSN, but I had to leave early to go to work, and on Comcast at work the game was on. I doubt this will continue, mainly due to the lack of a Marnier game, and the early start. We will be at Waddell's for every non FSC game, and this week for the Chelsea game due to 90% of the group going to the game.

    Emergency!

No one is answering me: Does Waddell's have the Sounders game tomorrow? This is basic. This is essential. This is who the flock talks to the Waddell's people and communicates to the rest of us? Nobody knows. Nobody responds. This is not the lameness some have reported - we have demonstrable evidence of Sounders support at Waddell's, and River City Supporters occasionally providing downtown venues.

There is support in Spokane. It generally congregates at Waddell's, plus whoever that RCS guy is sometimes gathers people downtown. We're here, we're Sounders, get used to us.

The problem: Nobody seems to be in charge of extremely basic things like: a) Does Waddell's or any other likely place have the next game (in this case San Jose on telefutura)? If not, who is hosting the party?

Come on! Let's get our schlitz together!

I called Waddell's yesterday and they said they'd have it. I haven't gone there before but if you're still unsure, you could call today and talk with a manager.

No Waddell's today, according to the schedule they have. No Telefutura.

It sounds like you Eastern Washington folks need to start contacting your local broadcast stations and see if they are willing to start airing Sounders games instead of whatever infomercial they're airing... You guys get screwed when the team isn't playing on national TV.

Actually, we get screwed when it is on national TV, at least pissant national TV. Waddell's has DK, does not have Telefutura or FSC.

Soccer in this town is very 1975 in culture, though much larger than '75 in participation - clubs for middle class brats, apeshit about high school soccer, eurosnobbish, suspicious of mainstream acceptance. Hell, the PDL team plays at a dog track in Idaho, lest it actually develop a following. We have a West Coast Conference university team that it does not even occur to the athletic department to promote. Why should we bother promoting a visit from Santa Clara or UPortland, when our fans are too overcome with the awesomeness that is WCC basketball to trouble themselves with some of the best soccer programs in the country?

At least Gonzaga finally fenced in the pitch, so it is no longer a place for dogs to shit.

Things will improve. Just takes a while for things to diffuse from the wet side.
