Figured I'd start a sports thread separate from IC5. Is there anything more infuriating than having your pitcher walk in a run? I'd rather watch my pitcher get rapped around the park than have him walk batters. I am talking about Zambrano btw:mad:

Tbh I don't care what sports... it's just a sports discussion thread with the title a take-off from the TV thread:pBut just for the hell of it, let's see everyone's teams:

First and foremost, all college sports = Notre Dame no matter what til I die. I have had a soft spot for Duke in basketball since I was a little kid.
    MLB - ChiCubs
    NFL - Bills
    NHL - Sabres
NBA - just got back into it the last couple years, I root for Chris Paul and da Bulls but don't really have a team

I'd like to thank my dad for giving me all of these shit teams to live and die by. Notre Dame won their last National Championship 4 weeks before my birth. I was born in 89 and the Bills went on to lose 4 straight Super Bowls (Norwood's kick was hours before my 1st birthday). The Sabres haven't won shit and we all know about the Cubs' misery.

I love golf. Tiger, Adam Scott, Paddy Harrington, Freddy 'Boom Boom' Couples, and of course Jack. I used to love Micklefat (I'm left handed) but then I started hating him now I'm turning back towards him. Steve Elk-down-the-middle Elkington is the man and so is Geoff Ogilvy. I guess I have a fetish for Aussie golfers. Sergio is a bitch and I want to stab him. Also, R.I.P. Payne Stewart:(

I watch all of the majors in tennis but not much else. I always root for the Americans even though Roddick and the Williamseseseses are assholes/bitches. I also really like Andy Murray and I definitely prefer the consummate pro Federer over the little Spanish shite.

    ----------------------------------------------------------

Anybody see Manny's press conference? "There was only one man who was perfect and they kill him, so... that's life."

    Quality:D

In addition to soccer, I'm a huge fan of baseball and I like American football too. I'll sometimes watch tennis too when there's a good match on TV.

Teams I like in order of my favorite sports:

    1. Baseball- Yankees obviously my dad's also a fan and the first game I ever watched was the Yankees final win in the 2000 WS. I also have a soft spot for the Mariners and go to a few of their games each year because I live so close. I HATE Boston, the Red Sox, and any other team from that region.

    2. Soccer- Since this is about other sports I won't go into detail.

    3. American Football- I'm a football fan too. The Giants are my #1. Again, that's the first team I started watching and I've grown attached to the team and the players. Seahawks are my #2 because they're local and also have players I can root for. The Jets are my #3 because they're just not as interesting to watch. My dad used to be a huge Jets and Giants fan too.

Also, I'm a LeBron James guy in basketball. I don't particularly root for any one team but I love watching LeBron play. Greatest player in the NBA.

Your dad is very odd if he likes both the Giants and Jets. Also, how young are you if the first baseball game you remember watching was the 2000 Series:eek:

    16. :)
And I think my dad was more of a Jets fan but I never really asked him why he liked both. I don't really consider myself a Jets fan though, kind of a plastic one if I am. :p

    NHL: Red Wings.

    NBA: Pistons.

Support those two because I'm from Detroit and I'm proud of it. I've always disliked NFL and baseball is not for me.

I also follow Aussie Rules, fun sport.

I tend to watch a little bit of a lot of sports. Don't follow baseball, hockey or basketball much until playoffs. Going to school out of state makes it pretty dang hard to keep up with those sports as national TV coverage for Colorado teams out east is pretty non-existant besides Football. Im a home-team kinda guy. Nuggets, Rockies, Avs, Rapids, Broncos. Have a soft spot for the Mariners, the Magic, and the NJ Devils though as Griffey and Jay Buhner, Shaq and Penny, and Broduer where all favorites of mine growing up.

Huge NFL fan. Watch every Broncos game that I can. I absolutely love the strategy in football. It's not as enjoyable until you start learning about different personell packages like the Nickel and Dime defenses, the difference between 3-4, and 4-3 and how differently both offense and defense act on 3rd down and short/long situations and on and on. There is just so much depth and tactics and I absolutely love that.

I've started watching a little tennis and golf recently as I learned a lot about playing both of those this year. Always enjoy the Olympics, particularly winter Olympics as I am huge into skiing growing up in Colorado. I was on skiis about a year after I learned how to walk.

Tried watching some rugby. Maybe I just don't get it but I thought it was kind of boring. Might be fun to play but way too random and chaotic for my tastes. Seems like its just a frenzy out there. Don't really enjoy watching most auto racing. Love actually doing it, but I find most forms of auto racing that doesn't involve actual production cars relatively boring. SCCA racing is about all I can stand for more than a short period of time.

But soccer is by far and away the sport I watch most.

No, I don't like American football to begin with. I find it boring and a waste of time. I might care if it's a big game but other than that I'd rather watch something else.

I now take any criticism on my teams by the Chelsea Supporter a lot less serious as he has no idea what he's talking about, or any real experience with the rivalries(one with the Celtics doesnt even exist, and the Islanders and Bruins dont give a shit about Each other anymore).

    Anyways:
    MLB-Rsox
    NHL-Bruins
    NBA-Celtic
    NFL-Pats
    NCAA-Gators
Tennis, Nadal or I'm not watching very often
Golf, I prefer tTiger to take it to the end and then I pull for whom ever is giving him a run.
    NRL-Sydney Roosters

And Claudio nice choice for who to watch(Chris Paul), amazing. Derrick Rose is quickly getting up there too. I think LeBron is great, but he is a complete douche and can't stand all of his theatrics, same with Kobe. DWade, Paul, Garnett, those are stars worth watching.

    Lol nice.

The Padres sold out their....sorry....the Dodgers sold out the Padres home game for Manny's return. More Dodgers fans at Petco Park than Pad's fans. Brilliant.

Ah yes, seconded. Really like GSP and Forrest, and stylistically Machida is fun to watch.

That's my point, you're what 22 I think? The Lions haven't played a meaningful game since you were still in diapers.

Equate it to Pittsburgh, the Pirates have no fans because there's a whole generation who has never seen them even have a winning season. Baseball is very much dead here and the NFL is in Detroit.

The Patriots were always a doormat when I was young, stuck with them and the NFL, though i guess I was born into a base ripe for punishment.

And most could not give two craps about the Pats till they started winning, agreed. And not even winning but winning that first Super Bowl. Boston was always a Celtics/Bruins town as well. Red Sox "Nation" is a myth only created in the last ten years. I don't mean that as a slight to Boston so don't take it wrong

    21 actually.

As I said before, it's not the Lions being shit, I just don't like American football. I remember the Pistons being shit and I still followed them before we became good.
