Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] thats pretty amateurish/stupid of Marinos. then again other clubs have made similar amateurish moves. one of the latest ones: Wigan recently held an introducting the new manager, Roberto Martínez, press conference, except Roberto Martínez didnt turn up because the deal hadnt been done yet. They jumped the gun and was left looking stupid apologising to the press for having them turn up for nohing. Wigan did get Roberto Martínez in the end, after ironing out couple of things. funny thing is its not the first time Wigan jumped the gun introduing a manager, who hadnt yet signed on the dotted line. Having said that the Marinos case seems 10 times worst.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] RE: Marinos / Shunsuke Yes, amateur is the right word. The blog mentioned also says the Marinos-president is a former personnel executive of Marinos' main sponsor Nissan and that he may have the perception of 'his' players as of his employees. As such Nakamura should be able to take orders from his company... Anyway, I am happy that Nakamura joins Espanyol and wish him all the best! MF Ivan de la Pena is staying and they also have Israeli talent forward Ben Sahar coming in from Chelsea, so on paper they look like a good midtable Primera Division-team.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] If daigo Kobayashi is best as winger, might that not be a problem for Okada's system? I thought Okada plays 4-4-2 with the wingbacks (Uchida, Nagatomo) acting as wingers?
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] I think probably Okada told Shunsuke that his spot for the WC is safe, no matters where he plays... So, here we go with a new adventure... And by the way Marinos looked quite good with Yamase as #10!! Who knows, maybe Nakamura back to J.League could be another flop such as Ono, Takahara and Maezono!
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] How is things going for Honda? Any other recent transfer news?
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Honda has signed a contract with a Dutch club playing in red and white. Details will be announced in an hour or so. twitter
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] True that...! I am glad that we will never know, at least for the time being Difference is that Nakamura did not have a particularly weak season, and without putting the J-league down, I think players returning from their spells abroad mostly mean that they are either tired/not capable of competing anymore. Either way, at a certain age I would understand, but as long as there is potential for them to keep their quality or develop it, they should try. That's why I admire Inamoto's move to Stade Rennes for instance Nobody is granting that guy a regular spot and yet he challenges. The same to Fukuda, Matsui and others who at one point or another would have had the option to return to a warm nest.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Wow, Honda is twittering? Red and White? All Dutch top teams Alkmaar, Ajax, PSV, and even Feyenoord are wearing these on their home uniforms... Any bets? Well, I say it's PSV... Edit: see below: Honda is not twittering and no news on his new club.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] It could even be FC Twente. Edit: Uggh... The twitter account turned out to be a fake.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] And I fell for it without thinking. Never mind... Also wondered why he would twitter in English anyway... However, when searching Twitter for Keisuke Honda, most of the time it seemed Ajax is regarded as main contender?
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] It's official... http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/teams/c/celtic/8101864.stm Good luck in Spain!
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] In my opinion, with De La Pena and Nakamura they have two of the best five or ten passers in the world on one squad. The derbys with Barcelona (who have another couple of the best passers in the world) should be fun to watch.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Matsui agreed basic terms with Grenoble, press conference will be held in Japan in the next days: http://sports.yahoo.co.jp/news/20090623-00000023-spn-socc.html And now for something completely different - well, not really : Yano wants to play abroad, and he is eyeing a move to Germany or France. As he was aiming at going to Europe since 07, his current contract with Niigata is running until this summer: http://headlines.yahoo.co.jp/hl?a=20090624-00000023-spn-socc Takahara's agent looking for potential clubs abroad: http://www.sanspo.com/soccer/news/090621/sca0906210501004-n1.htm As there are a few Japanese midfielders playing in Europe, I think for the NT it would be good to see more forwards playing here also. At the same time, I don't see these two (Yano, from what I saw in the NT; Takahara, form what I hear he is no regular while not injured) transforming into international class-goalgetters. Of course, I wouldn't judge Yano only from the few minutes he has in the NT... but what's the case with Takahara? He always seems to have a good season and then a terrible one
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Yano and Takahara, yeah yeah, don't know what to say, they can't even score in J-League, what are they going to do in Europe?
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Good move for Matsui, hopefully the pressure will be relieved and he can finally start scoring those amazing goals he used to.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Takahara might contribute a bit for a new promoted team or so.....just by his experience playing in European leagues But Yano.....I can't see any possibility for him to make it in major leagues. His biggest strenth in the J league-----his body size and balance, is simply nothing in Europe. I wonder who will take a 25 yrs old japanese forward with poor shoting & heading and NO posting skill.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] http://sports.yahoo.co.jp/hl?c=jleague&a=20090626-00000076-mai-socc Grenoble confirmed Matsui joined them. He will hold press conference today in Tokyo. Yano: Maybe it's a good thing because when Yano finds himself a club in Europe he will struggle to get a regular spot thus he will probably not be in Okada's eleven, and we all can sleep peacefully On the other hand, maybe he undergoes a miraculous transition to a topclass striker, and then we would be happy to have him in the NT Takahara: Apart from not being reliable I don't think that he is cheap... suppose he only gets a move when he considers earning less...? I think the only J-player currently in Europe who we don't know yet where he plays coming season would be Honda. Maybe Ono and Morimoto too, but I believe both of them have contracts until next summer. Anyway, does anybody know about other J-leaguers planning to go? I would love to see a Japanese defender in Europe...
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] http://www.nikkansports.com/soccer/world/news/p-sc-tp3-20090624-510010.html Nakamura had offers from 14 (!) clubs, including Genoa, Paris St Germain, Hamburger SV, apparently a club from Uzbekistan, and of course the Marinos.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Not mentioned, so I don't think so. The only clubs mentioned in particular were those above, article also says a few clubs from the middle east made an offer. From what we know, we can add Athletico, Espanyol of course, and Celtic.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] http://www.goal.com/es/news/21/fichajes/2009/06/26/1347945/mercado-el-bari-pretende-a-uchida-perla-japonesa Its in Spanish but Atsuto Uchida has been linked with newly promoted Italian Serie A side Bari.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Italy would be a good place to move because it will help improve his defense, but a newly promoted side wouldn't be any good. He needs to play for a side where there isn't constant pressure of going down. I think that Catania would actually be a pretty good move.
Re: Japanese Abroad 2008/09 Part 2 [R] Bari won the second division dominating and playing wonderful soccer, but they now lost their manager... It would be a bit of a jump in the dark... palermo would be a good move, as the manager (Zenga) has shown he likes Japanese players.
