I's gots mine. Occasionally hangs when replying to bigsoccer. No flash support?!? Can't even follow matchtracker without that. I was reluctant to get an iPhone since I'd really like a "real" keyboard, but I like the service here at my house which is a dead zone for other carriers.
Twice the speed. Speed is good. Better camera with HD movie (old 3G didn't do movies and had fixed focus). I'm a registered Apple-Hater so this is a big leap for me. My wife's iTouch kinda sold me on this phone. "Check out that chick at NNW!"
Damn...I need a smartphone for work and I'm leaning towards the 3G S. But cancelling that Verizon contract will be a pain in the ass.
I'm a fanboy - and I paid to get out of my Sprint contract (what an idiotic business practice that is - I am pretty much guaranteed of never entering into a Sprint contract again, regardless of whether everyone does this) but AT&T really has sucked as more and more people are using their iPhones. I don't think they anticipated how much people would be using data, etc. and they are scrambling to catch up to demand. I don't use 3G so no idea how reliable it is - but there are a decent number of dropped calls and dead zones for me. So be warned - it might be a headache if it's for your business. I use my phone strictly for pleasure so I don't really mind.
I'm in Queens and Nassau for work. AT&T has been pretty good for me so far in terms of phone service. MUCH better than Sprint. I use 3G all the time since the Wi-Fi for me is pretty useless. Still, the speed isn't what it used to be. My co-worker just got his 3G S and I played with it yesterday. Opening a page on the 3G S didn't seem any faster than my regular 3G iPhone. Still, the new features alone seem to make it worth it. You can now get GPS using 3G S and also shows you which direction you're facing. I literally sat in the cafeteria with the phone and just turned it 90 degrees. The "compass" went with me. Very cool. Also, the camera now lets you choose focus on subjects by just "clicking" it. Very cool. I don't know all the other features but apparently they've fixed a lot of the little flaws people complained about. I'd get it if I qualified for the discounted price. I don't. Assholes.
Remember when the 3G network in Austin went down during SXSW, when a bunch of 20-something New Yorkers and Los Angelinos descended with their iPhones? I'm imagining that's happening on a small scale everywhere. I'm cautiously optimistic that Verizon will handle its iPhone-like device from Apple better, since their network has a better reputation, but that could just be because they don't have iPhone users on their networks. Also, the Find My iPhone app helps dude find his iPhone 3G S: http://happywaffle.livejournal.com/5890.html
The only stupid person was the guy who took it who actually kept it on despite the owner repeatedly texting the phone.
But, in that timespan, there'll be three new generations of iPhones out! It is good marketing on Apple's behalf. They'll release the updated whatever just a few months after the old one's hype cools off.
