So I've been living in Albany for the past couple of years, looking for a team to adopt (and it won't be the PDL Highlanders for the sole reason that they play on gridiron AstroTurf(TM). Yecchhh). I went to one match at the Gremio this past season and had a grand old time. Just wondering if there are any other Western Mass supporters out there. I definitely plan on going to more matches next year, though being 90 min from Ludlow precludes me from being a season ticket holder at this point. I'd love to hook up with some fanatics who like to sing/bang drums/carry on during the matches.

The match I went to was actually an exhibition against Portugese side Chaves, so I don't know if there is a Kop-type group of crazies at the regular matches but I'm guessing not.

So in the words of Ben Stein, anyone?

Lusitano is a great stadium, the crowd is knowledgeable, but I've never heard a drum, chant, etc there - except when Connecticut came to play and brought their own stuff.

Let me know when you are going and I'll meet you there, at least till 2005 when its rumored Hartford is getting a team.

Cool--that's one! Maybe I'll update this thread as the season actually starts to arrive. Was the Connecticut team the same one that played in New Britain? That was a decent pitch also; I saw a US-Scotland friendly there several years ago.

are officially Eastern Conference title winners! A lone goal from Ignacio Lerech was the difference maker tonight.

Not only did Flower City Union win in its U.S. Open Cup debut, the Rochester, N.Y. team secured its first victory ever, at Lusitano Stadium in Ludlow, Mass. Flower City had dropped its first two regular season NISA matches of the campaign. Lukas Fernandes tallied the lone goal of the match four minutes into extra time. Despite being surrounded by four Western Mass players, Fernandes beat goalkeeper Jermaine Fordah from the right side of the penalty area. The visitors played the final 10 minutes and stoppage time a man down after defender Marcus Micheletti was red carded in the 110th minute. Keeper Maykell Ortega, who was sharp over the final minutes, secured Flower City's first clean sheet in club history.
