Matias should make the move to Sporting.

I don't think it will happen, and I would rather it not. Firstly, it seems that Sporting offered 4 million euros for 90% of his pass...waaaayyy below what Mati is worth, and if Villareal has resfused greater offers from Fiorentina and Liverpool in the past, why would they go for this?

Additionally, there's a huge difference between playing in the second best league in the world and playing in another league that while good is definitely a BIG step down. Its like going to Turkey, Holland, or France. Mati needs to play either in Spain or Italy.

If he gets a reasonable loan spell in Spain on a team that he will be able to play in, that's all he needs to prove that he's an A LIST player. I'd take a shot in a mid level Spanish team over a big team in a lesser league

We just disagree there, then. :)

Where did you make up the Liverpool rumour? :p The Fiore thing never made it past "interest": interest that never turned into an offer. And I believe yest. on "24 Horas", it was said that Sporting offered 8 mill. Euros. Villarreal denied receiving an offer: that figure to me is highly reasonable, considering how little he has contributed.;) Now, 4 mill. Euros does sound (and is) low but I am not sure that was the offer.

Can't disagree with you there but it's not like he's going from Spain to Switz. He's going to Portugal and specifically to Sporting Lisboa, a team that made it to the knockout round of the CL this year (granted, they got whooped by Bayern but still). Between playing for a CL team and not playing for one, there is a world of difference. Would you rather he rode the pine at Villarreal simply because Villarreal wins the Champions League and is a team in the 1st/2nd best league in the world? I prefer not, I rather he play in very competitive team (that I understand is not at the level of La Liga but I think I made my point on this one).

Osasuna barely saved themselves from relegation this season. Unless that team makes some major upgrades, I see mid-table as their highest goal (and that's a big "if".

Well, I'd rather him get a chance to play in a competitive league, even if its a mid level team. OK, Sporting might make the knock out phases of the Champions league, but the odds of going any further are essentially nil. Are 5-6 games of great competition worth an entire season of mediocre competition?

Let's put it this way: Villarreal is a big "small" team. Meaning, that outside the top 3 in Spain(Valencia, Aleti have been up and down but are usually in there, as well). There are no guarantees that he will go further in the CL with Villarreal (and same applies with Sporting, obviously as they got rocked even by an awful Bayern side this year). However, the difference being at Sporting he's more 1. likely to win titles and 2. be a key player AND 3. consistently play. He wouldn't get 1. at Osasuna, for instance. All in all, his move to Sporting does not seem to bad after all, methinks.

With Pellegrini at Madrid and Matias having signed for Sporting, this thread is useless.

    THREAD CLOSED.
