Allright I'm back with my assessment :)

Just FYI I have played Hattrick, MZ, TM, OSM, X11 and found them all wanting.. some because they are too childish and some because they use fake football players; neither of which appeals to me.

The reason why I waited with this game was because it has been pay to play since launch and now (since yesterday) is completely free to play and it kicks the butt with all those other games, at least in my own very humble opinion.

    cm-online.com

Can't do more than point you there, try if you like. I won't be leaving it any day soon at least :)

multiplayer soccer manager is an online football management game. After registration you get your own club to manage; you are the manager who decides on training and trading players, creating tactics, and setting up your squad. It's not easy as you compete with over 50,000 other users, not computer bots :) ... but maybe you prefer
to play offline with codes, so it's not for you

I want to recommend www.freekick.org. It's the most tactically challenging game around. It's a bit hard to get into, but you get a personal mentor right away and a good tutorial.

If you are succesful in www.freekick.org, you can call yourself a real manager :)

Yes, Footballidentity.com for sure is a weird game :) But it is a whole lot of fun as well as realistic! It's more about playing together as a team than being only a manager of your own team. Matches are played twice per week where users come together and take decisions (in a turn-based strategical manner using their mouse only) for their players. The manager role is just like in real life, he manages the team by picking starting lineup, signing players, communicating tactics etc. the main difference compaired to other manager games of course being that he interacts with real people.

I`ll have to go for CMO (cm-online.com).
Really great layout, easy to work in.

The training scedules are just amazing. Not even offline versions like FM has all the things you can do on this game.
You wont regret trying it out! :)

What the hey, i'll chip in.

    I don't think anyone's mentioned http://managerzone.com yet.

I think a question was raised about running your own leagues? Well, although the Friendly leagues do cost money, the fact that you get to arrange 10 friendlies a week for free does allow you to run a competition for free, providing you're willing to do a little organisation.

Tactics wise, you get to position your players where-ever the hell you want! You could even theorhetically play no central defenders :p.

Training is simple. Every player is allowed to train, players improve in one skill at a time. Players generally train at similar rates, but a thing called maxings (basically when they stop training a skill), sorts out the good from the bad.

And finally: a lot of other football manager games only have a Match Engine where you'll be told about the game via text only. MZ on the other hand... allows you to watch a game in all it's 3D glory :). It ain't a perfect 3D, but would you rather be described the play, or actually see the play unfold?

MZ also does Hockey Manager, and as far as i can tell, is the 2nd most popular Football Manager on the web.

PS: Trophy Manager is good too. Hattrick asks for intrusive details, i still stand by my belief that giving them out will make you a spam target.

If you haven't checked out footballidentity, I really recommend that you stop by. If you are a fan of these types of games, this is one that is different enough to be a unique experience, and insanely addictive.

It's free to start up your first character, and many folks stop there, but if you get hooked additional characters are cheap enough to buy.

Essentially, you can be a manager, a player, or a journalist, and interact with others in a world designed to mimic real-life football as much as possible. Because everyone is a real person and not computer controlled, it makes the transfer market and intrigue of each league fantastic.

The game is still in beta, so now would be a great time to start up a character. If you were to sign up for trophy manager, for example, you would be stuck in the basement leagues forever-- but on footballidentity you could play in a first or second division team immediately.

Come check it out! Even if you decide you don't like it, making a character helps out the players we have now a lot because of new teams are created based on the number of new characters, and we could use a few new teams here and there.

I've played almost all of the main online stuff and this game has totally taken over my interest from the rest. Highly recommended!

    Hi all,

Just wanted to point your attention to http://uflive.com/ - a football manager game being made by the community.

I'm not sure if you are familiar with FML (Football Manager Live) but it closed down recently and many members of the community expressed an interest in developing a Football Manager MMO game. You may think it's an overly-ambitious task but many experienced people from different areas such as game development, programming, project management, marketing and other areas have jumped on board.

Unlike many of the popular browser manager games that we see at the moment it will be client based and be much more in depth, similar to FML.

It's still in its early stages (beta to come in a couple months) but I'm sure it's worth keeping an eye on by signing up to the forums or visiting the Facebook page... :)
