    What is it with Valencia and hitting the post? I remember him hitting the post a couple of times at Wigan too.

    I was blessed to be at Atahualpa and see a very hard fought match, some heroic efforts, and two golazos. It was cold and wet but the fans kept pushing and the team responded. I will never forget Ayovi's laser shot. I have seen all of the replays now, but watching it live was majestic because the whole stadium knew he hit it well and then sort of took a collective breath as it apprached the corner of the net ... almost in slow motion. Palacios goal was also great because 1. he bent it beautifully (quien dice que la pelota no dobla en la altura?) and 2. because of the celebration that ensued by the players and fans who may have all had some fear that we would let the game slip away.

    Here is what the great "El Diego" had to say about Ecuador after the match;
    link

    I never liked him...though I always recognized his talent, I could never stand him.

    Que partidazo, ganamos super bien. Nos aguantamos la lluvia en el estadio, el frio no era problema. Ni tampoco la gripe. Ademas el Tropico nos mantuvo calientes jaja. Alentamos hasta el final y aunque por un rato la cosa se veia negra, esta vez tuvimos a la suerte de nuestro lado y q golazos por dios!
    Arriba Ecuador, eres grande. Paso a paso el suenio se puede convertir en realidad.
    Alguien ha visto el fox Argentino estos dias?
    Esos manes me dan la razon en todo lo que he dicho en otros foros y por lo cual algunos foristas envidiosos saltan y lo llaman locura....
    Para los de fox, Ecuador es el equipo mas tecnico de America junto con Argentina y Brasil. Se pasan alabando a nuestra querida seleccion y diciendo lo buena y solida que es. Que hermoso, y para los que han criticado a Niembro y compania, debe ser por envidia por hablar la verdad de alguna seleccion vecina mala como la gallina por ejemplo. Los tipos son muy profesionales y aunque a veces si se les sale lo Argentino y exageran cosas y lo defienden a Maradona a capa y espada, saben bastante de futbol y tratan de ser objetivos. En fin, esos manes adoran el Ecuador. Dijeron tambien como que Quito es de las cuidades mas hermosas de America entre otras cosas....;)
    La mayoria de gente piensa eso de nuestro pais y nuestra seleccion en el mundo. Solo un par de amargados envidiosos en los foros no significan nada.
    Que vayan a llorar a otro lado. Nosotros festejamos con orgullo a nuestra gran seleccion, arriba Ecuador !!!

    Fox Sports does love Ecuador....I remember they used to be complimenting Salas a couple years back about how much of an amazing player he is. They did the same with Guerron, Bolanos, and Cevallos. And they've also spoke good of Liga in general all the time...Fox Sport is the ish!!

    One thing that has stayed in my mind from this game is how great Elizaga stopped a couple of shots including the penalty kick against Tevez. Every time that he would block a shot, his act would reinforce another chance of Ecuador in remaining in the game. Everybody that I speak to remember the goals of Ecuador of that game but quickly forget the importance of Elizaga in keeping Argentina from scoring a goal. Argentina had several opportunities in the first half to score a goal. Had they scored a goal first, I believe that Ecuador would not have won that game. When Tevez was about to kick the penalty shot, I really thought that Elizaga did not have a chance but when he blocked that shot, I was astonished and happy for him and for Ecuador. I saw Elizaga block a shot on a friendly game at Giants Stadium last year at about the 40th minute of the second half. Ecuador won that game vs Colombia 1-0. Hopefully, Vizuete for Ecuador's next game decides to put the best goalie of Ecuador and not the best politically correct goalie.

    That's all very nicely said... But Elizaga can not play the next game vs. Colombia because he received his 2nd yellow vs Argentina after chopping down Tevez in the penalty box.

    I agree that Vizuete should not pick the most PC goalie. He should go with the best goalie at the moment. And that could be Alexander Dominguez. :cool:
