No, he's not trying to get fired, he's not smart enough for that. He's just completely clueless.

Besides, the FPF will never fire him. We are stuck with him until the end of his contract. The only chance we got is for him to leave, which he will never do,why give up the money? Or some stupid enough to come along and offers him a job somewhere else.

You're giving us too much credit. I predict a 0-0 draw.

Most ridiculous Portugal lineup of all times?

I think this has to be up there.

BTW to the ppl before who ased why Portugal doesnt play "big teams" in friendlies - we all know what happened vs brazil not too long ago and lets just say that with this lineup out there I am VERY GLAD we are only playing against Estonia because against a better team we would be in for a epic shallacking like we saw in Brasilia not too long ago.

Ze castro at DM just makes me want to cry. Boa morte gets to stick around and yet joao moutinho gets dismissed for "technical reasons" wtf

Ze Castro is so god damn shit, and on top of that he is a CB lmao

Queiroz and his constant playing players out of positions is getting ridiculous.

    You are right
It is the crappiest line up ive seen
But we have enough firepower with this team to beat Estonia...I hope.

Its because we're playing Estonia that we're throwing out this team...its basically a B team. Its a friendly and the last game of the season for everyone so whats the point?? And how is Queiroz constantly playing guys out of position? He's just done it with Pepe and I think that has worked great. Yes he's tried Duda at left back but Paulo Ferreira was adapted as well so whats the big deal???

And whats up with all the bitching with the lineup??? Having starting the regulars would have done nothing for team cohesion since everyone is going to be off for the next 2 months...this game should be used to get a look at other guys.

Pepe and Duda were two of the worst players vs albania

and Paulo Ferreira at LB didnt work out well at all in euro 2008.

and players usually get about 2 months off national duty after world cup qualifiers and friendlies regardless if its summer break or mid season.

what good does trying out boamorte in midfield do when theres so many better options.

    ze castro as DM?

cmon. its fine to experiment in friendlies but not with stupid nonsensical ways.

    I agree quinas1139
but come on... letst try out some better players
Its horse shit that we even called up Ze Castro and kept Boa Morte instead of keeping Joao and calling Miguel Veloso or Vitor, China, Rolando, Carrico etc.

I agree, Duda was horrible...but he had performed well in previous games at LB. Pepe was not horrible in the Albania game...at least not when you look at the teams over all performance.

Yes players get one or two months off during mid season but they are constanly playing and training, summer break is different.

Boa Morte I dont get why he's in there....but I dont see a problem with playing Castro at DM. Queiroz is a great at finding the right position for youngsters so I would see what happens.

But lets look at the flip side. If we put in all our big stars and win everyone will say so what...it was just a game vs Estonia.

I think its good that Queiroz is trying out lots of different guys...we cant just use 11 guys all the time and then if someone is hurt we're stuck.

Yes, but can't these guys be P. Mendes and M. Fernandes instead of Boa Morte and Tiago for heaven sakes.

Moutinho was let go along with Bosingwa, Deco, Ronaldo, etc...
Vitor & Carrico were with the sub-21 I believe but we are more then fine at center with Carvalho, Alves & Rolando (who is on the team).
China?? No thinks....Pedro Mendes should be in there before him.
Veloso has a way to go before getting called up.

And like I said, I dont understand Boa Morte being there....then again I didnt understand when Scolari picked him over Quaresma for the 2006 WC either.........

    Fernandes is injured.
You dont like Tiago?? He's had a very good season at Juve.
    I prefer Tiago over Moutinho.

I've never been convinced with Tiago. He might play good for club soccer but he's never done well on the national team (except for may a little in the last game he played). I'll give him that.

He was horrible in WC06. He can't shoot even with an open shot. His teamates don't pass him the ball when he is open. His passing is also sometimes not that great. He doesn't run very fast. It's like your playing with one less man.

I don't think we can say were CQ haters, as far has I'm concerned I would want him to succeed. Just that so far in his career he's never proven to be anything more then being a a great trainer.

He's not very good tactical(adapting to game conditions), not a great motivator, and doesn't transmit a ounce of confidence. Until he can prove me wrong which I doubt very much, since these qualities are a gift, and no coaching courses can instill that in you.

Motivator is a gift. They portray a confidence that exceeds that of your skills.

Not all but most are CQ haters. For those that wanted results right away I can understand the fustration but for those that can see the holes on this team we know that rebuilding has to be done. But even considering this I think we still have enough talent to qualify for the WC and until we are either qualified or eliminited only then can we give CQ a fair assessment.

Of course we have the talent to qualify, and IMO to be in the top 10 in the world. That's whats bringing out all the critisim. So far he's failing us, as for waiting to see if we qualify or not it's not fair to the nation.

Imagine a student in school never getting either progress reports, or grade results. All they did is give them their final grade at the end of the year.
Thats basically what your saying lets just wait, and not judge him.

We dont have a forward, left back or DM (Pepe looks like he'll be able to fill the role though going forward).

Nice analogy...but consider if you send the student to school with unsharpened pencils and the book he had to study from had missing pages, how is he gonna do on his test?? :p

The team looks decent at this point. Nani and Eliseu are playing well. Rolando just gave up a clear header after poor marking. Tiago is playing well also.
