carlos tenorio?? segundo castillo? WTF!! these guys need to f-off!! they have not been active for the longest time. might as well call up de la cruz and kaviedes;at least those guys would add something to our team. teno and castillo are the most useless guys on our team.

does anyone have a link to a live stream?

I must say I was totally off with my predictions of this game as I was with all the others. Crazy round of matches with all the visiting teams winning except Colombia. This is such a weird and random Qualifiers...too many unexpected results.

    My views on the game:

Although I am usually not a Guagua supporter....had my doubts about Fleitas' performance at NT level....had my doubts about Ayovi playing as a Left Back....had no hope in Tenorio playing up front....and was unsure about Montero starting his first game in a Qualifier against Peru (which was a very vital match to us) b/c of his inexperience.....I was wrong.

I got honest and say I applaud the whole NT's performance.....Guagua PROBABLY PLAYED THE BEST GAME IN HIS LIFE. I'm pretty sure the pressure on him was so great that he knew he had to fulfill Hurtado's spot without committing a single mistake.

Guagua had a great game, I wish I'd see more of this from him. I was very surprised and don't know how he managed to pull it off but BIG UPS to Jorge Guagua, it's obvious he knew this game was important for us to survive in this Qualifiers. I'm guessing Fleitas' experience was also helpful for Guagua.

Fleitas....great game, he played like a NT vet under all this pressure. Although he did make amateur mistakes by fighting back with the ref, his overall performance was great. Him and Guagua worked really well.

As far as Ayovi playing as left back....he did a great job, but everytime he moved up with our wings and we lost ball possesion, Peru's counter attacks were very dangerous in the spaces left open by Reasco and Ayovi....Jorge Vargas took advantage of this in various opportunities, especially Reasco's side. We should be thankful that the post saved our lives and that Elizaga did too...as well as Guagua and Fleitas' performances. I guess overall since we won, Ayovi did his job. But Vizuete needs to be more careful with putting Ayovi as LB with teams that could cause more damage.

Carlos Tenorio: WOW....I was shocked with this man's performance. I felt like El Tin was spiritually guiding this man or something. He brought back that presence of a GOLEADOR that our NT used to have. That Centre Forward that we've been lacking. I have nothing to say against Tenorio today, SURPRISINGLY. First game this whole Qualifier where I have seen Tenorio do an excellent job like that. THAT is what we've been missing. His pass to Montero's first goal and his personal goal he scored were what we've been missing....a player who passes the ball when he's SUPPOSED TO unlike Benitez. A player who puts the ball behind the net when given the chance....Tenorio's GOOD FUTBOL (like today's) is welcome in our NT, not the mediocre performances he gave in all the other games of this Qualifier. Good luck to him and hopefully he plays against Argentina and AGAIN gives us good futbol.

Montero: First game in a qualifiers, first goal. This kid is following in Antonio Valencia's footsteps...and if you ask me he has potential to be greater than Antonio. Ever since I saw him play in the U-17 team, and later the U-20 I've notice that he's been the best player on both. He has a lot of heart and brings attitude to the game. And he's only 19 years old...Montero= future star. (I must admit Emelec is smart for getting a hold of Rojas but they are dummmmmmbbb as hell for ever letting Jefferson Montero leave. Biggest mistake ever!!)

Overall I think there were 3 MVP's today: Noboa, who did an awesome job as a defensive mid (the best player in my opinion), Tenorio: for knowing what to do with the ball when he's in the box and finally fulfilled the job of a effective Center Forward, and finally Montero: debut in Qualifers and played his heart out by being our most dangerous wing....to top everything off he scores.

Now the question is.....Montero did an awesome job, Noboa always puts his best game down when he plays....and Guagua and Fleitas did not do a bad job at all today which makes me think who the hellll is going to start against Argentina. Our midfield seems to be Experience vs. substitue players in their prime. And our defenses performance today makes me question if Espinoza will still have his spot for sure against Argentina.

how about Urrutia who actually plays week in and week out. castillo had a open man to pass to for a easy tap in and instead he was a ball hog and shot straight at the keep.

ok this is a rare solid performance from Tenorio... lets see if he can do it again. I hope he proves me wrong.

this is the team i would start

    ------elizaga-------
    --hurtado--guagua--
reasco---------mina(did well last time against them in B.A.)
    --mendez--noboa--
    valencia-----montero
    --benitez--c.tenorio--

Walter is good, but i will opt to have defence security over offence. and mina did a good job last time out.
i think castillo lost his spot to noboa, i hope!

U finally wrote something that makes sense, grats. Montero rocks, hell yeaa. How the hell is tenorios performance a surprise? He rocked at the worpd cup, when it counted most. Yea i know he missed incredible chances at some friendlies but come on, when we needed him he has responded most of the time.

"Not even Noboa seemed that good today"???? Are you ok?? What game were you watching!!? Noboa played an excellent game, if anything Noboa, Montero, and Tenorio were the best players on the field and the reason we won. Especially Noboa b/c he was genius with his passing, his defensive abilities were on POINT and served us well in regaining possesion of the ball in the midfield, he played his heart out from start to end....I can't believe you'd actually say something like that. He's being complimented everywhere for what he did in this game. He provided so much balance in our mid. He played like an experienced player should play in a position that he normally doesn't play but which he feels comfortable with (de doble 5)....wow this has got to be the quote of the day.

he didn't miss incredible chances in juuuust friendlies....he did in all/almost all the games he has played this Qualifier....this one against Peru being an exception. Just as a reminder this is his first goal in this Qualifiers.

I don't discredit anything he did at the World Cup but the reason I began calling him a MAMON is because of his inconsistency. What makes a player great is consistency. Not just 2 games, although the World Cup is when it most counts. It's like if Ebelio Ordonez would score 2 goals in a World Cup and then never score again....that wouldn't make him great, it would make him a "chispazo".

BUT, I do hope for Tenorio to keep up what he's doing. The performance I saw him do today was on point. He played smart and he did what Center Forwards are supposed to do, SCORE. We've been missing that for quite a while and finally that presence up front was felt. Great game by Tenorio, I'd be lieing if I said I had one thing to criticize about his performance today.

I never really said I believe in Palacios and that he's the answer to our problem up front with our forwards.

I just thought he should have been given the chance. The only reason I thought he deserved an opportunity was b/c the Benitez & Caicedo duo can't score if their lives depended on it. And now I've seen enough of Palacios to come to the conclusion that he's no where near NT level. He's not aggressive, can't position himself correctly, and looses balls easily. He basically plays ghost in every game. Especially the one today.

I think Narciso Mina should have been given a chance to prove himself instead....but since he just came out of his injury it was kind of complicated I guess.

Palacios now belongs on my Mediocre list: Mamita Calderon, Ebelio Ordonez, Gustavo Figueroa, Johnny Baldeon, and now a new member PABLO PALACIOS hmmm and I feel like I'm forgetting somebody....

Mamon list: Cristian Benitez, Joffre Guerron, Carlos Tenorio (has one foot in and one foot out)

If Tenorio keeps up the good work he's been doing he will no longer be a Mamon and will be El Demoledor once again. He has to prove throughout the rest of this qualifiers that his two goals in the World Cup weren't chispazos.

Felipe Caicedo...I have to say has been progressing in Manchester City and hopefully will show that progression in our NT. His last two months of this past season showed lots of growth in him and I support him to continue his good work. He's only 20 years old and I haven't lost complete faith in him as I have with Benitez and Guerron.

Cristian Benitez is only 23 and Joffre Guerron is only 24. These guys are still young and have the chance to prove themselves.

problem with guerron is that he has a HUGE ego...I'm a die hard liguista, and am grateful to him for all that he contributed to Liga but I have to say that after he left, it was easier to see that he was a ball hog and had his head in the clouds...he won 1 libertadores and had a huge sense of entitlement which clearly he doesn't deserve because he's getting benched on a team that almost got relegated in spain!!!! and now it's happening on the NT as well....
