This thread is for disucssions and updates about our latest FIFA ranking. December 2008 ranking, we're 72th in the World now and joint six-placed team in the AFC ranking.
There is a big gap between the 6th place (Iraq & Uzbekistan, 463 points) and the 5th place (Saudi Arabia, 600 Points). We need to play with higher teams to get alot of points.
this is more then bullshit, how the f3ck did we lose so much? did all the other teams surpassed ous? a lose = o points! so how on earth did we lose that much? 3-4 maybe but 13? come on!
You do not lose points for a loss. A loss is zero points, but we moved down so much because so many other teams moved up.
Sure, a loss = 0 points, but looking at the bigger picture, you do lose points. A very simplistic way of looking at the FIFA ranking is this: FIFA points: FIFA Points for all matches played in the last four years/Total number of matches played in the last four years When you add 0 to the total number of points and 1 to the total number of matches, the average will go down and you will lose points.
Also, if you didnt gain any points in the new month, you may have had a lot of points in the last month from 4 years ago, which would no longer be counted. That would result in points actually lost.
That explains it perfectly. Out results for the corresponding month 4 years ago have been wiped out and they were better than this one. Which isn't too shocking as we have hardly played and when we have our results have been awful. We need to play more friendlies and against BETTER opposition.
Iraq maintained it's 85th place in the February ranking but dropped from place 7 to place 8 in the AFC ranking.
Iraq is up by three places in the March ranking but down another place in the AFC ranking. We are barely top ten now. 32 Australia 35 Japan 42 Iran 44 Korea 55 Saudi Arabia 67 Bahrain 74 Uzbekistan 81 Oman 82 Iraq 87 Qatar
Iraq down to 86 in the May ranking! Ranking of the 8 Confed Cup teams Spain [1] Brazil [4] Italy [5] USA [15] Egypt [37] South Africa [77] New Zealand [78] Iraq [86]
Shocking, we're the lowest ranked team in the tournament behind New Zealand and South Africa who have been shocking for the past few years. When will we play more regularly?
