If you look at the table this one should be an easy match for the Battery. but the old saying goes anything can happen and that is why they play the game.

Charleston are still undefeated 1/4 of the way through the season and even more telling is that they have only given up two goals this season.

Cleveland on the other hand have only scored 2 goals and have given up 12 goals in 6 games. They seem to be a team suffering from a mass overhaul in the off season, only to find out they were moving to D1 and had to scramble to put together a team.

Cleveland are also playing Friday night in Cary NC so they will be feeling the effects of there second match in 24 hours with the bonus of a 4 hour bus ride.

The Battery will potentially be without Armstong, Woodbine, Yoshi, and Antoniuk due to injuries. Hemming will be on international duty with Canada. so the Battery will once again be forced to field a different line up.

Patterson and spicer up top seemed pretty effective against Rochester and I would keep the Back line as it is. Midfield will probably be Buete, Truesick, Fuller and Williams.

Weather look to be nice for the weekend if not a little warm and humid. I think that will work in our favor vs. the guys from Ohio.

We will be tailgating prior to kickoff starting around 5 in the usual place (just by the East stand Entrance). come by for a beer or a bite to eat ( i know there will be homemade sauage, pork tenderlion, and Kabobs for the eating at a minimum.)

On a side note, i expect attendence will be low for this game as the local ECHL hockey team, the Stingrays, potentially could win the Kelly Cup championship at the same time. They are currently up 2 games to 1 in a seven game series. Game four is Friday night and if they Stingrays win that match, they will have an opportunity to win it all in Game 5 Sautrday night at home. There has been a lot of deserved hype and a good buzz going on for the team. Lets Go Rays!

Back to the Battery, I'm going to predict a 3-0 game with goals from Fuller, Spicer and Patterson.

    UP THE BATTERY!!!

A couple of things make me really nervous from your comments Mikey....

    1. Everything favors the Battery and works against the favor of the City Stars for this match. No way in the world that Cleveland should win this game and everybody knows it.....that's what makes me nervous because that's when the inevitable slip up occurs.

    2. The other thing that makes me really nervous is wondering what the heck goes into your homemade sausage. :D As they say, you know what goes into hotdogs, don't you? Everything that didn't qualify for baloney! Yikes! And all sausage is is a hotdog that made the big time! I kid...I'm sure they're awesome!

Hoping to make it down for this game with my kids, but probably not in time to tailgate...gotta work til 5 in Columbia and will then hot-foot it down I-26. But will do my best to slide into E10 to meet some of you guys. I'll be the one with the duct tape....

I agree with your first point completely. I hope the boys arent over confident as IM sure Clevleand is tired of lossing and will be wanting a win.

I wish I could claim makeing the sausage but it was homemade by someone else. the only sausage I ever helped make was Blood Sausage after slaughtering hogs on my uncles farm. this stuff has much more real meat and spices.

We'll be in E10 if you dont get there early enough though see ya their!

The only thing that worries me the most is Williams. Period. He just doesnt seem to have ANY drive to play ANY position. When he played defense he was pretty slack, midfield he doesnt run with the attacks, and someone helps us if he moves to a striker role.

I really think Bermudez (sp) should get the start of Williams.

And from what i've read on the City boards their team is in as bad of shape as Newcastle was. Only difference...you cant get relegated from USL 1 back to USL 2. Im pretty sure we'll win this and i really think our offense will come alive this game. Its set up to. Cleveland has done ok against the lower teams and have gotten smashed by the leaders...so i dont expect anything different and the way the Battery are playing i dont think they'll be too overconfident. The first 20 min should tell the story.

    Prediction: Battery - 4
    City Stars - 0

    ......

Note to self: Self.....don't piss Mikey off....he knows how to use an axe and has used one before! He could kill me, chop me up into pieces, then make me into sausage, and no one would ever figure it out! It's the perfect murder.....yikes!!

    ......

Must say I didnt really enjoy the experience. I would just feed you to the hogs, they will eat anything, bones and all, in about an hour. But I am qualified on several automatic and crew-served weapons, now that is enjoyable!

I think I might be with RHB about Bermudez over Williams, he looked good when he came on against Rochester and should have scored a goal for his efforts.

Well, I wish I could make it to Chucktown for this one. Heck, I wish I could watch it on line but Blondie's daughter has her birthday outing Saturday night.
I don't think The Battery will have that difficult of a time against City, but I'd at least like to see City put up a little bit of a battle. That's something they haven't been able to accomplish in USL 1, the promotion took the club as a surprise and they had to quickly put a new team together since Rennie took the nucleus to the RailHawks.
    Battery 3:0.

It always to good to see ya Brook, wish you could make it although with late notice it would probably be hard to organize the needed security that you seem to demand :D

    Couple interesting notes.

I see Pato Agulerro is on the Stars this season, I guess he has a hard time staying anywhere for long

Also former College of Charleston Goalkeeper Hunter Gilstrap is the starting keeper for the Stars. He also went to my high school alma mater Lexington (Go Wildcats) so it will be sort of a home coming for him and I expect there will be a few people in the crowd cheering for Hunter and the Stars Saturday night.

Just received an email from the Battery camp informing me that Saturday night's game is designated as Family Night...

    $30 gets you....

    4 tix to the match,
    4 hot dogs,
    4 sodas.

Not a bad deal at all! Oh yeah....almost forgot--it also gets you....

2 opportunities to win a free pretzel! :D For those of us who appreciate the occasional free pretzel------and Chubby Checker!

Seems not quite everyone appreciates the chance to win a free pretzel....or the two free minutes of dancing to a SC legend! :)

Nice meeting you guys, too....pretty sure I met Mike (Spikey), Mike (Mouse) and Jim (BribeTaker?). You guys have a great group and I look forward to spending some more time with you guys on a future trip. Hopefully I'll be able to tailgate...I'm sure that's more conducive to chatting and getting to know you all a little better. Plus, beer makes everything better! (And sausages!)

    Thanks for the welcome! :)

watched the spicer "non-goal" on USLlive (around the 53 min into the boradcast) hit the pause button as fuller hits the ball, and Spicer was clearly onside. patterson was standing a step offside but was on the far side of the play and not in the play. I thought FIFA was all for refs letting that one stand.

he has been limited on minutes but I think he is doing pretty good. I like seeing him come in late in the game when the other team is tired and using his body to wear down the defenders.

It would be nice to see him score but no one has been racking up the goals they seem to be coming from different players.

Was good meeting you too. Not only did you win ice cream for the shut out but got a pretzel too!! lol. Well thats a good thing only if you enjoy pretzels and chubby checker. Was really nice of them to give us "extra time" for the minute seeing as the ref took a min for us to do the throw in that led to the goal...lol
