Don't know if there's a thread regarding this already. If so, mods feel free to delete this: http://mnt-ussoccer.blogspot.com/2009/05/espn-getting-it-done.html "ESPN also announced the full broadcast for the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup. ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to televise all matches of the 2009 FIFA Confederations Cup from June 14-28 And to go one step better, all the matches will be available in High Definition. ESPN will televise the the match between the United States and 2006 FIFA World Cup champion Italy (June 15, 2:25 p.m. ET), while ESPN2 will carry the match against Brazil (June 18, 9:55 a.m. ET) and Egypt (June 21, 2:25 p.m. ET). I know there's a least a few other fans here in the UK who sometimes want viewing info for this country. It sounds like it was a little of a squabble between Sky, ITV and some other but in the end... All the 2009 Confederations Cup games are on BBC3/Red Button: Link to BBC Coverage Good news if you haven't coughed up the £ for Sky Sports...
anyone know if espn360.com will carry it as well? I don't have a dvr/vcr and I will be in class during the games.
Most likely espn360 will carry the games. I know for a fact that www.mundocramex.com will also have the games.
ESPN360.com will have all sixteen games LIVE and they will be made available for replay there once the games are over. They will have exclusive LIVE coverage of the Iraq-New Zealand match on June 20 which to other LIVE programing on ESPN (College Baseball) and ESPN2 (Spain-South Africa soccer) is currently scheduled for a tape delay showing on ESPN2 the following morning. (The baseball game is a "if necessary" game so if its not played, the soccer game could be moved to either ESPN or ESPN2 with the Spain-South Africa soccer game being shown on the other channel.) ESPN sent out a press release out on Wednesday promoting their coverage of the event which you can read on the ESPNMediazone.com website (http://www.espnmediazone.com/press_releases/latestreleases.html) or head over to the TV, Satellite and Radio forum here at BigSoccer.com and check out the Confederations Cup Schedule for ESPN thread where Stingbee30 posted it. No pub required my friend... Unless you want to pay £4 for a beer. Probably more seeing as how you're in London. Just get yourself some cans in, settle down and watch - it'll be just like the snooker! On a serious note, it's nice that BBC picked this up, cause more people are likely to watch here if it's on terrestrial. Not sure if it's on BBC HD or not. I don't have a HD box yet anyway, although my telly's HD.
For anybody in Germany, DSF will broadcast the games and here is the schedule: http://www.dsf.de/no_cache/fussball/fussball-live.html?sword_list[0]=confederation Confed Cup 2009 LIVE im DSF: Sonntag, 14. It's a shame the afternoon games are on the red button though. You reckon those will be shown in rerun in the evening? I don't think you can record the red button games no?
I remember FSC had the replay of the CL final last week.,..not sure how they got the rights though to show it....anyone know if there are there going to be replays shown of the matches at non working decent hour on some regular ESPN chnls or ESPN classic?
Great that ESPN is showing the games, but why did they fail so utterly to mention the Confederations Cup during the broadcast tonight? Rob Stone mentioned it once, but the guys on Sportscenter seemed to think the team doesn't play again until the August game against Mexico.
This link has the ESPN and BBC schedules laid out in a very handy format. http://www.worldcupblog.org/world-football/2009-confederations-cup-espn-and-bbc-tv-schedules.html
FSC is partnered up with Barca TV, I believe, and that's why they were able to show the CL final replay.
I'm pretty psyched. I haven't seen a US match since I moved to the UK 10 months ago. Plus, it comes at a time when the EPL and CL is over. Also, I get to place a wager on the matches. Legalized sports gambling is a wonderful thing.
Jesus... I was setting my Tivo for the matches this morning and the Brazil and Italy matches are replayed about 10 times each.
Really, are they replaying the US matches at all? It sucks because they're all on during normal working hours for most in the US. EDIT: Awesome. I decided to check for myself. I believe I have access to ESPN360 at my home internet, so I can watch replays there. But for those who don't. The first US match will be replayed on ESPNU at 8pm EDT and ESPN2 at 10pm. It's originally on ESPN at 2:30pm. I'm not going to check the other games right now, but I assume it's the same. Smart of them to do it that way. My DVR is shot and I was worried.
And there are more on the following days. As I was setting the Tivo today, I realized that all I have on it are soccer matches, Little Bear, Sesame Street and a stray Sherlock Holmes episode or two.
Ugh, I am going on a cruise, leaving early morning of the 15th and getting home the night of the 20th. So I am going to catch NZ/Spain on Sunday before I leave, and DVR our first two matches to watch, then I'll be back on the 21st to watch Egypt/US and Italy/Brazil. Depending on our group situation I may be watching the latter and recording the former. I just hope that when I leave early on the 15th our match against Brazil on athe 18th shows up on my DirecTV so I can record it.

I'm pretty sure all the matches will be replayed at 1 am eastern on ESPN and ESPN2. Actually I might have just made that up
