Since this also tends to be the Austin community footie forum... Anyone know what Cuatro's is doing for the UEFA Final between Barça and Man U? Match time, etc? Setanta is playing the game at 8:00 PM. But I assume Cuatro's willl have some sort of live feed. I just don't know the time and if anyone is going. Thanks
It's live on ESPN (and ESPN-HD), so I presume most every bar will be showing it. Fortunately, we have cable at work.
Although the match is over, it was a good one. I watched it at Plucker's in RR (by my office) on ESPN. I don't support either team, but I enjoyed watching Barca fool all of the sports writers in the UK by beating the Red's...soundly. On a side note, I also made contacts with the Plucker's Director of Marketing, who's invited the Army and other supporters to come by for pre-match gatherings for the PDL matches, which are played up the street at Dragon Stadium. We can't do it for next week's PDL match, as it's going to be played in Bastrop (aka Alejoville).
WHO'S THAT DYING ON THE RUN WAY WHO'S THAT PLAYING IN THE SNOW!!!! IT'S OLE BUSBY AND HIS BOYS MAKIN ALL THE FUKIN NOISE CUS THEY COULDN'T LAND THE AEROPLANE!!!! WHO THE FUK IS MAN.UNITED WHO THE FUK IS MAN. UNITED WHO THE FUK IS MAN. UNITED AND SO SAY ALL OF US!!!! You go girls, from Barcelona, WELL DONE MESSI!!!
Okay, I hate Man U about as much as the next human, given the distance between Blackburn and Manchester, and the rivalry the two teams had in the mid-90s. I also feel their supporters are generally self-centered and generally jerks to other supporters. But that was tasteless in the extreme. 8 people died in that tragedy. The fact that they were wearing ugly laundry at the time does not in any way minimize that. There are times when vituperative hate is appropriate - that isn't one of them. That's completely lacking in class, and beneath everyone. Seriously.
Thanks, man. As a general jerk and self-centered supporter, I was just going to ignore the slight. I appreciate that someone spoke up, even if they dislike the Manc's...
While I enjoy little banters against our opponents or clubs that I don't like at all, the one cardinal rule that you don't ever bring up here is chants that deal with tragedies like the Hillsborough Disaster, Heysel Stadium, Munich air disaster, Superga air disaster and others. You CAN NOT display any sort of classless acts around here or at the stadium. It sets a very bad example to our supporters groups and fans alike. We have enough time dealing with anti-soccer media personalities (Jim Rome, PTI) that keep on bring up soccer tragedies, hooligans & violence and we don't want to add more fuel to their fire.
I don't mind GENERALLY being a jerk. I noticed that the statement "It's all about you, isn't it." isn't a question, so I don't have to answer. Don't worry, if I was from Manchester, I would probably hate the Red Devils, myself. Luckily, I have only encountered nice, non-self centered Mancs and fans (a right rarity I am assured.) Since I probably wouldn't even watch soccer now without having become a fan of Manchester United, I may be forgiven my first non-American team. I now associate much more with the Stoke-on-Trent crowd, and we can all come together to watch the Aztex. (Even if you are a Blackburn fan.)
