prince, united were owning them the first ten mins i think with a more aggressive lineup and replacing giggs with someone like scholes they wouldve done better
yes, they were better that first ten minutes... why couldnt they continue that hold after the first goal? why? because Barca would not allow them... if by aggressive line up you mean play Tevez instead of Park, that makes sense... but Rooney did not show up last night and it wasnt doubling up, he just was terrible... if you mean aggressive by going to a 4-4-2, United would have given up 4 or 5 goals and Scholes would have been a disaster last night... he is not good anymore, they needed Scholes of 5 years ago, not Scholes of today
i dont mean 4 4 2 talk to any united fan and they will tell u a 4 2 3 1 is their best system i honestly think they couldve kept it up fergie went 4 4 2 second half and united suffered united shouldve played berbatov as they barely attacked through the middle and went at yaya who is out of position giggs and park were a mistake
It was pure arrogance by Fergie not use the array of attacking options at his disposal. He played right in to Barca hands. Man Utd were out played in all parts of the game but where i think lessons can be learnt was Barca superior technique the first touch of every player was of the higest quality (probably the best I've seen) everything stuck and it left them chasing shadows. This is exactly what Wenger is trying to achieve with inferior players.
COUNCIL WARNS OF MORE DELAYS DUE TO SEWER REPAIRS Islington Council have warned drivers in the borough to expect further delays this week-end, after many sewer lines burst due to a massive overload last night. Archie Leach, a spokesperson for the council, said: " At around 10pm last night, our system was overloaded by several thousand people, all pissing themselves with laughter at the end of the Champions League final. We are fearful that a similar situation may occur early Saturday evening, when Everton lift the F.A.Cup. "
Really? I can't think of an attacking player that Fergie could have played that didn't play at some point yesterday.
I must say after watching the game, that only 13 players showed up last night and 11 of them played for Barca. I could be wrong, but it seemed to me like United tried to play Barca the same way they played against us in the second leg. It worked against us, but with the 1st goal by Barca they needed to come out and close down the players and win the ball back--something they weren't even doing with 10 minutes to go. It's almost shocking that the premier league title winners played a CL final like it was a group stage match. I agree that United's lineup was poor, I don't think Giggs or Anderson should have started, but I'm no United expert. Also, it seemed like the fullbacks rarely got forward, whereas Puyol and Silvinho spent most of their time in United's half. All-in-all, Barca totaly outclassed United on a neutral pitch--Chelsea have a complaint, but United have none. Xavi, Iniesta, Eto'o and Puyol were all superb.
Puyol was great, it was a blessing in disguise that Dani Alves got suspended. That probably would have kept Ronaldo out on the left at the start of the match, he would have undoubtly been punished.
Point taken, it's easy to judge with hindsight. Giggs and the rest of United's midfield played shit. I'm not sure what instructions they were given by SAF, but, I have to agree with Bigman and Ronaldo...the tactics were wrong. Keeping the FB's home all game and not closing down Barca's midfield is a bad idea--see the last 30 mins of the Barca/Chelsea tie. That doesn't mean United would have won, but aside from a few moments, they were played off the pitch.
Yeah "Really" With a patched Barca backs line he should of played Tevez or Burpertov from the outset. This would given Barca more of a worry. there was no constant applied pressure on their back four.

Well, that is not exactly what you said, but hey, whatever… To your new point, this 'day after quarterbacking' always is fun. It's hard to be wrong that way. You can say that Berbatov should have started, but before the game, most people thought that he was a bust for Manchester United this season. Many people on this board have been making the case that Manchester United play better without him. Plus, Berbatov was in the papers all week talking about how nervous he is, how bad he has been playing, and how if it came to penalties he would pass. He definitely did not sound like a player that should be starting in a final. Also, Park has been one of Manchester United's best and most consistent players this season. He doesn't get enough credit. It doesn't surprise me that he started.
No I think he means Ronaldo. The entire second half Puyol owned Ronaldo. Although, tbf, he did frustrate Rooney for the first half.
no he wouldnt... Scholes is done... he was bossed by Lucho, Fernando and the other guy in that Porto midfield... its why Fergie has not played Scholes in an important match since
They're looking for a welder in Manchester, apparently they've got a bus that needs the roof putting back on.
