Whatever Yallop is saying to these guys at half time, he needs to stop saying it.

When the other teams keep walking the ball into the goal at the beginning of the game and at the beginning of the second half and off of set pieces, that has to be on the coaching staff. There are other problems, of course, but we are making it way too easy for other teams to score.

I hate to admit it...I'm getting numb to the losing....5 in a row...I was at our lone victory of the year and it seemed like that happen a decade ago...once again an early 2nd half goal.....what the hell are they drinking at half-time...try expresso

thought gray-denton-elliot played well....convey and salinas tended to disappear for long periods of time......Quincy is fun to watch...fast...falls down...looses the ball....he played well the first 20-minutes of the game...Johnsons keeps trying hard...corrales not much to talk about....

We were certainly better with Hernandez in the lineup, not much question on that I don't think. But the substitutions were too little too late as has been the case for the season thus far. This team has to learn that you aren't going to score by backpassing 95% of the time and blindly kicking it up the field the other 5%.

    Well that was crap.

Again, our guys lose focus often during the match. Kelly was especially bad. He'd win the ball, then make a terrible pass, or lousy touch and give it up right away.

We had the ball down near the Cowlumbus penalty box. One of our forwards passed it back to avoid being dispossessed and four or five back passes later the ball was with Joe in our penalty box. What the hell?

Late in the match we had moments where our guys were not playing with any urgency at all. During stoppage, we earned a free kick from about five yards beyond the Crewless penalty box. We wasted more than 30 seconds getting the kick organized and then Arturo booted it over the Crewless goal. That was totally predictable too.

Why are Corrales and Elliott still getting starts? There were awful tonight.

Why is Garcia still starting? He was horrible tonight. He got caught way up field on Cowlumbus's second goal and he had no chance to recover. Three or four times I saw Nick way the hell up field. OK, so nice effort and way to try to take control of the game, but he's not a good offensive player and he has no speed, so when (WHEN!) we turn the ball over he can't get back on defense in time.

Denton had some moments where he did not suck, and some where he did.

Shea was pretty close to useless tonight.

RJ, Q, and BC (shockingly) all played pretty hard most of the match. (I missed the first 20 or so minutes.)

Glen looked OK. Let's start Glen up front with one of the other forwards and try RJ at a-mid. He can't be as bad as Corrales.

The ref sucked like a vacuum too, but what's new there? He allowed at least two, maybe three off the ball tackles by the Crewless that went totally unpunished. Well, OK, Brian Carroll injured himself taking down Elliott. I hope the prick is out for at least three weeks.

I also noticed that the Crewless spent a lot of time trying to job the ref and playing for the foul. GBS kicked the ball into Garcia's arm at one point and immediately appealed for the foul. What a turd. Several of their guys, RR most noticeably, ran into our guys and fell down hoping for the foul. They got several of those when they should have gotten yellow cards.

But I don't think the officiating really made any difference. We sucked and therefore we lost.

    go quakes :(

NO MORE KELLY GRAY!!! For crying out loud, get a professional soccer player in there!

NOT the way to start a 2nd half on the road.

Convey had moments but not enough... statistically speaking Ryan Johnson is turning out to be a darn good forward... we need Hucks.

Gray was at least partially at fault on both goals... time to move on.

Hey Good News!! We can watch Wipeout tonight and stop thinking about how completely, totally, unacceptably bad our team is for a little while!

Maybe I'll take up heroin too.

Three yellows for our guys tonight, none for Columbus. If Corrales and Amarikwa pick up yellows against Real Salt Lake on Saturday, they sit out the next match.

Tonight was a tale of two halves, the first a great example of attractive, entertaining soccer full of life and high hopes and the second was a pile of putrid dog vomit. That must be a winner of a half time speech Frank, keep up the good work

1-7-2 after 10 games, totally unacceptable.

    4-1 loss to NYRB
    3-1 loss to Houston
    2-1 loss to Columbus

Does this mean we will tie RSL this saturday 1-1? (desperately looking for a ray of hope)

I guess this is sad, but I was actually kind of heartened by a somewhat reasonable road loss. Took the lead early, only lost 2-1, a lucky bounce and we could have drawn. Like I say, sad, but at this point, not getting humiliated is a qualified success.

Only two shots on goal for the Crew the entire game and they were (gift) goals.

Denton (who was otherwise solid) tries to head a ball forward to Garcia to start the second half instead of just letting it go out of bounds, and all of a sudden Hernandez and Gray and trying to cover 3 Crew across the box with Elliot huffing and puffing to catch up.
Pointless unearned goal for the Crew.

In the first half all the defenders clear out of the box on a far post ball, leaving Gaven wide open to slam home the redirect.

(How certain posters say this is all Cannon's fault is beyond me.)

The Quakes basically played the Crew even on the road and gave away the result.

Not a bad show, but too late to turn around the season.

You're high... he's been our best defender this season and the only back that actually helps the attack.

Hernandez and Gray need to be paired in the middle, with lietch and convey on the sides (once Huckerby is back).

I have to say that san jose are soft in the back, slow in the middle, and frustrated up front. Every time a defender gets the ball he immediatly boots it out of the box, why? Cause he doesn't posses the skill to move it out of the backfield. I've seen better team ball in AYSO. And you can't blame the defence for not trusting the mid-field with the ball. With the countless number of intercepted passes, or just straight losing it. when the last time you saw Corrales do something great, or Garcia or Cannon. This team needs to wake up, or we should change the line up. I do blame the coaching staff a little, really frank needs to start showing some greatness or I'm going to have to think dominic Konear was the mastermind behind it all. and if so Frank, I do think Ian Rusell might have been a bad choice. Where Ronnie O'Brien last years mid-field savor. Really getting him back what ever it cost would be the step in the right direction. Anyways I'm tired of watching this team lose.

I have to agree Kelly Gray is a little girl. We need men to lay down the law. The law people I don't care how many yellow cards it takes.

On track for 15 points this season.

Realistically the team will probably improve, but we need about 30 points in the last 20 games just to improve on last season. Playoffs are nearly out of the question.

How is O'brien going to help the team? He can only play out wide. He is ineffective inside and it's not like he can teach the guys how to defend.

Can we do any worse. Is the inside game working. And another thing Joe Cannon needs to revert back to the old days. The good old times when he hit everything in his box just to get the ball. Remember those days.

We looked darned good the first half. It was hard to see who was who via mlsnet but I saw a lot of passes connecting and players cutting inside the crew to get the ball. Nice.

What's sad is that they had the whole second half to catch up and could not even mount a threat. Whereas in the first half there were about 3 realllllly close chances, in the second half, nada. Where did that team go?

Still like Q but he needs to learn to jump higher. Our usual solid players were solid tonight. The rest...meh, wish we could have hung on to that lead or at least scored twice. How long has it been since we actually scored twice in a game?!?
