Something happened with Maldini and the fans while he was jogging his lap of honor around the San Siro. I think they were yelling Baresi Baresi and he got pissed.....I'm not sure. Anyone know?

One, Duck Manson isn't American, or anywhere close. We wouldn't take him, he's from Norway.

Two, apparently the Milan ultras unravelled a banner when Maldini was doing his lap of honor and it said "There's only one capitan" and had the #6 below it.

What an asshole move from the Milan ultras.

    Eurosport - dom, 24 mag 19:41:00 2009

Il capitano viene contestato da parte della Curva Sud e se ne va sdegnato. Non senza salutare con una frase sibillina: "Sono orgoglioso di non essere uno di loro"

Serie A - Maldini-day finishes in the worst of ways
    Eurosport - dom, 24 mag 19:41:00 2009

Il capitano is contested in the Curva Sud and leaves the pitch in disgrace: "I'm proud to not be one of them"

    blame ultras evertime...typical modern shit.
maldini said disrespectfully words about curva sud and fossa...
Ultras never forget and never forgive..maldini played many years in milan and earn millions euros..but ultras didn't earn any money, they gave their love and loyality to the club..maldini comes and goes but ultras and curva sud always there...
There is only one capitano and he is baresi..im with curva sud lads in this even i hate them.

I believe it had something to do with the ultras pushing for free tickets and managements all accross Italy trying to stop that to undermine the power of the ultras.

Maldini backed up the management in the case...

Siyam, no one is saying that the ultras should forget about the differences, the question really is that if this was the occassion to air that dirty laundry. Especially for a player that has given the club 25 years of service.

I think it had to to with the CL 05 loss to Liverpool and his response to some of the Ultra's. Either way its only a small faction of the dissolved Fossa from what I read. I could be wrong.

those ultras are delusional...even if you assume the complaints have merit and the ultras aren't a bunch of immature crybabies, there is surely a time and a place for any disagreements to be aired and insulting maldini on the farewell match for this legend is surely not the time or place...just shows how classless they are

That bolded part is the point...end of discussion.

They should never ever get their free tickets again. That Barone guy should be held accountable for organizing or allowing this to happen, and they should apologize to Maldini through a banner or media.

    Total lack of respect.

Of course something like this made worldwide news.

What some of the banners said:

    "Franco Baresi our only captain"

"Thanks captain, on the field eternal champion, but you have disrespected those that have made you rich"

Apparently all stemming from lack of support by Maldini when some of the ultras had trouble with the justice system and other financial situations such as free tickets, travel etc.

    Shameful act from the ultras.

well its like Siyam said the Ultras have no money to make and had Maldini made millions and saw the Ultras saw a chance to tell him how they felt and mostly likely the only time they could saying something to him. but am noting judging it as if it the right thing to do though...

    curva sud declaration...
    http://www.guerrieriultras.it/

Maldini broke ultras heart..and there is no place for maldini in ultra's heart.
Our only captain is baresi...if you watch the video curva sud was chanting 'oooo franco baresi franco baresiii'..and other curva didn't do anything..
we will see in next 100years that any ultras will chant for maldini again...
if your fans doesn't chant for you...you already dead.

    p.s: this is not translate...
i will translate later because i have no time...its too long.

Quick summarization: Curva Sud says that the 2 banners were made for say "thank you" to Maldini, and there was no intention on contestation. It also add that the only contestation was against the president of the club.

Well, for me it's hard to believe  this is not a good way to thank someone...
