I thought it was Portoviejo - doesn't Kaviedes seem to gravitate to the newest latest and greatest Ec club before performing his wonderful disappearing act again!!!

Also, on an interesting note - no Colombian teams advanced to the knockout round while Brazil have FIVE!!

with the absence of a bolivian and colombian team from the next round, i still find it surprisingly representative of the continent....8 countries have teams there and its all due to the argentine teams not being as strong in this tournament...kudos to Cuenca..they keep making history and facing Caracas isn't the worst thing that can happen...this is a very managable round of 16 for Cuenca if they can be smart

Hmmmm.....don't get your hopes up. Its one good result. Liga had twice the talent and had a rought time. Let's wait to see Cuenca away first.

my roommate is from cuenca and his uncle is one of the directores.....apparently the municipio will be handing ownership over to the team and a 20,000 seat expansion is in planning....

Cool...it would be great for Ecuadorian football to have another serious player not only at the national level but internationally as well that is outside of Quito and Guayaquil.

the success of Cuenca will undoubtedly bring more revenue to their team...my roommate told me that Repsol might sign on as a sponsor. that is huge considering how deep in debt the club is, if it goes through, it will mean serious bucks are going into Cuenca to keep the team afloat, and maybe out of the red.

I doubt any expansions are going to be made anytime soon. Teams like El Nacional, D.Quito, and Emelec have been talking about new stadiums/expansions for a while now and nothing has started or will start. Especially with teams like Cuenca & D.Quito, they're always in debt.
