The irony is that single chants DID happen...the first and second seasons. Ask Dominic Kinnear what his favorite Robertson memory is and he'll tell you you it was towards the end of the 2007 WC Final when the entire stadium was singing in unison to a song that the North End started. I've heard him, on more than one occasion, refer to it a4s the greatest atmosphere he's seen in MLS and something comparable to Europe. In fact, he says that Spencer and he both sat back during the added time and soaked it in because the game was essentially already over (Houston was winning 2-0).

I believe that the single chants happened because they were organic. They can't be planned. But moreso, because they were coming from one voice. I've seen the reception of the "Let's go Dynamo" chant from 204 when EB or TA start it. It last for maybe 5 rounds and then fizzles out. It's just not the same because it lacks gravitas and it lacks direction when the two groups are separated.

Sadly though, I don't think the majority in TA and EB care...at least not enough to actually make it happen. It will take significant compromise by both groups for it to even be considered let alone happen. The longer they are separate, the less chance they will ever have of rejoining. The status quo is always easiest to maintain and it takes a huge impetus for people to act against the status quo. It took drastic circumstances (at least perceived circumstances) for TA to leave in the first place and it will take something equally as drastic for them to go back. And that really sucks for me.

You made me think of two different things with your post here....
One, people complain about the two sg's competing with different cheers, I wonder if they could do something of a back and forth echo sort of thing sometime, each one competing for the loudest side, something like the old "we've got spirit, yes we do, we've go spirit how 'bout you" thing from high school. (I know that cheer is lame, it's just what came to mind...) Something with the drums and chanting back and forth would be cool.

And your idea of everybody jumping for the last 10 minutes is a good one, it seems like in a lot of games most of the crowd is standing for the last 10 minutes or so. A little jumping and chanting wouldn't be hard to add to that.

In section 204 we're working on getting everybody to stand for both opening kickoffs, for corners and the last couple of minutes. It's slowly catching on.... (maybe because we're in front and nobody else can see? :D)

    La Naranja Family... OHANA

Holy sheepchet.. when did this topic come about? :D

Joe touched apon a key point .. a team liaison, I'll take it one step further...
I have been talking about a Supporters Group Union for Houston Fans since last year. I got that ideal from a few friends of mine that are in the Lowrider Carclub scene. They have a union so folks can communicate with one another, keep the respect and unite for events(car shows) and other things they do for the communitiy.
Maybe we can start off with just the Dynamo then invite the others.

The reason I say Houston and not just the the Dynamo because you could then invite the Rowdies, Texans cook off teams and tailgate crews, Astros caballitos and other fans aswell.

You never know when we might have another Bud Adams or AEG pull some Sj relocation crap.If one franchise ever tried to pull some crap over it's fan base, we as a whole could stand up and be heard.
Plus most of us are Houston fans.. Dynamo, Rockets, Astros, Texans, and Aeros.

As far as a unified stadium chant.. if it's not corney or lame I'm sure it would catch on. HOw do you say we get allsides in unison without making it look fixxed? I say let the supporters pop off some smoke bombs at 80 mins and that could be the signal... almost anything else is going to be lame.
I mentioned a Air Raid horn once.. that didn't go over too well, each group with a flag that would signal a stadium chant, that was shot down.. but maybe just maybe EB is in mid chant.. when TA/HP lifts up their flag they could wait till EB is done. La Banda would then know it's time to finish out a chant... because we all know some of these chants can go on and on, but it's because we're in a groove :D

I know you guys don't give two chets about my ideals.. chants .. or friendship, but I have been one of the most vocal persons about this topic, PRos and Cons.
Like others have mentioned , it's all about HOUSTON!
    NOTHING MORE NOTHING LESS.

it's sorta like you know you'll have to spend time with your mother n law at Easter... doesn't mean you have to like it... you do it for the team (family).
OHANA.. it's for the future of dynamo fans

    Somos PURO HOUSTON!

Blu, sometimes you surprise me. I think all of your ideas are good. The idea of the Union is likely a little idealistic, but that does not mean that it is not a good idea.

FAITH.. FAMILY.. FUTBOL.. is what DOM preaches!

I ment to post this by itself... as far as the TA coming back to the NorthEnd.
I'm no way some Holy Roller but...
I say pray about it , that's the only way I see hurt feelings, betrayal, and misunderstandings being healed.

That's all I have to share... If you have anything to say please send me a PM.

Nice post Blu. We have a foundation for something like that already in place with Kategorie H, as that is not limited to just Supporters Groups or Dynamo Fans but to everyone.

http://kategorieh.ning.com is the independent ning site and we also have the Kategorie H Group at the mydynamo site at http://mydynamo.ning.com/group/kategorieh

We have already started reaching out to Astros, Texans, Aeros and Rockets Fans and the more people unite the better it will be for all. As stated before, it is about H Town pure and simple.

50 years from now will the die hard Dynamo supporters of EL NARANJA be able to talk of the men and women in those first seasons that gave it their all, overcame their stumbling blocks, yelled out in beats and songs in the two majors languages that have made Texas Texas, enjoyed LA ALEGRIA, had fun celebrating Houston's Cup titles and of course stood together for the players.
I sure as hell hope so.

    Word Blu.

Sale Houston, just about 3 or 4 minutes before the reception. the key is keeping the drummers on beat (just have an indicator and keep an eye on the other side). Its a song of anticipation, we all know it, and if it comes from both sides, the whole stadium could jump in.

We'd have to keep it fairly slow to keep it on beat, but that works for me.

Actually, thats not what we sing, the song is "Sale el campeon" not "Sale Houston" meaning the champ is entering, and we stopped singing that because you only sing that when you are the champ that year. Its what is sung to the champs when they win something in latin america......hmmm, I wondered why you guys would still sing that, I though, why are they singing that, we arent champs anymore, didnt realize ya sang "Sale HOUSTON"....:D

They did sing Campeon last year, but changed it to Houston for this year IIRC.

Yeah, we liked the anticipation it built up too much to let it go. just a little editing does wonders.

What do y'all sing at the reception?

I bring you "Nothing Rhymes with Orange"

    Nothing rhymes with orange
but i'm orange till I die
    from far away
    they came to play
    and always fight
    like champions
there's nothing we can rhyme with
so we have to make it up
    but nothing rhymes with orange
come on orange, win the cup!

    - - -

I have a dream where "Nothing rhymes with orange" becomes the club motto. Kind of like "you'll never walk alone" and such.

Interesting. I've been a proponent of an atmosphere committee like Chelsea has for a while now.

I wish I had more energy left to give this thread the respect it deserves.

    vamos naranja.

I'm with you, Nortemismo. As I stated before, moving this thread to the Supporters Clubs forum essentially killed this good thread.

Perhaps all I read in this thread was "Let's make the Robertson atmosphere even better", whereas the mods and others kept reading "Why can't EB and TA get back together and be a big happy family".

The faith of this thread was sealed when Nicamex, with all good intentions, mentioned the EB and TA into the discussion of how to improve the stadium atmosphere.

Mods without a life outside of this forum are probably sick of hearing the EB/TA-lets-be-a-happy-family-again discussions, so they moved the thread to this virtual cementery, opened a can-o-crickets, and the thread got quiet with only the sweet sounds of these insects in the background...

Maybe we can bring up the "single chant" or "better stadium atmosphere" or "Houston's own chant" ideas at a later date, WITHOUT mentioning the EB/TA conflict? maybe that thread will not be moved?

But I am too busy savoring Sunday's win, reading online as much as I can about our FIRST WIN OF THE SEASON!!!! I needed that.

Honestly, look at the title/first post of the thread and then try and tell me this is not about TA and EB.

    neg rep this mod...

IF someone is up in here starting crap or posted pendejadas to derail the efforts by McSwiggins , that's one thing.

People need to know what's going on, don't try to hide our issues or sweep them to BS purgatory ( Supporter Group Subforms)
that's the issue here Art, your over moderating this board... just like with the whole Gameday threads. .

    QFT--
I will second what Blu has posted. It's bad enough when the main forums are nothing but dick measuring contests, but now we have a situation where too many posts get moved and too many threads get locked in our own subforum. There is such a thing as "user friendly" and this ain't it.

Why should people bother posting if it is just going to be moved?

I could see where it could be considered off topic if I was to post a video of myself helping sheep over the fence in a post game thread. I get that.
But Art, you are going too far. Let the threads flow, complaints, questions, warts and all.

Right now is a very tenuous (sp?) time for all concerned. People need a place to vent, communicate, organize against oppressive cops, etc.

Is that too much to ask for? Seriously?

You should post that in the Dallas forum. They need something to entertaining to watch so they don't have to think about how much they suck.

Honestly, I did not move it to "sweep it under the rug".

There was a thread started about TA/EB and I moved it here, simple enough. I also posted when I moved it that if TA or EB wants it in the regular forum to PM me and I would move it back (nobody asked to do this). If you think this is purgatory, then why was a SG sub forum ever requested??

If somebody wants to start a general thread about stadium atmosphere that is great, but do not tell me that is what this thread was.

Also, what is wrong with my gameday threads?

I think that people are referring to the post game threads. At least I am. I seem to recall a complaints thread, which is where some post game thread posts ended up. Also, in the current post game thread a question was asked regarding the north end scuffle. And you quickly moved in to steer people to the EB forums.

In summary, the post game threads are either chopped up worse than the field at Robertson, or moderated so tightly that it is reduced to X's and O's or yay team.

Right now, that's not where we are in the process. There is a lot of shit happening and I think that most people don't feel like digging through a bunch of new topics to discuss what's happening.

    We need to breathe.

I was certainly very pointed in the EB thing, but for good reason. I came off as a jerk and it is my fault because it is a pet peeve of mine when people go "well I do not mean to do this, but I am going to do it anyway".

About the complaints thread, I do not recall moving any complaints that were not posted by rikker (a person who tries to stri the pot) or advocated shooting our players.

I am sorry, I will do better.

As a sign of good will ....
EB will trade you "El Rookie Pato" for 5 of the hottest chicas TA has on any given day. So that way TA can have a horn.
