I was bored so I bought a king size flat sheet and 100 balloons. Only cost me 30 bucks.

The balloons don't float too well. They are more for holding them in your hands as a filler like done here by Portland Timbers.

    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISxNURopKOM"]YouTube - Portland Timbers Army[/ame]

Then when your done you just hit them around.

I'm doing a banner right now from a sweet Captain America image but instead of this it's Captain Frankie. I posted it on facebook since I have no MLS fans of different teams on my facebook, if you want to check it out it's 50%-60% percent done. Still need to add the writing and a couple other things on the guy.

It actually looks really pretty sweet since I spent the last four hours free handing it. So, if I'm facebook friends with you check it out or PM me and I'll send you the pic link.

I figure just hold up this banner as a crowd banner along with Thoma's Warzycha one that wasn't properly viewed last time and just give people balloons to hold on the walk out around the banners and then throw them around. Similiar to the Timbers video. Just two crowd banners instead of one.

I'll just put the yellow balloons in 3 clothes baskets and bring in my crowd banner whenever everyone else is setting up.

I don't know if people will understand the balloon idea but it was cheap and worth a shot. Cost me 6 bucks for all the balloons. If that doesn't work out and everyone is in a sordid mood since the section was probably a little more happy against TFC, then I'll just hang this up as a banner. There is room in the front left for that and save the balloons for another day.

I thought what the heck though, mise well throw out the idea as the teams needs a vibrant Nordecke more then it ever will with their slump and tomorrow's attendance. I also figure it will be a cheap and effective tifo and like almost zero set up time. All I need is some people to wave a balloon around in their hands and a couple to hold the banners. If everyone else is down I'll either coordinate this all on the left side. Where me, Thoma, and Big Al and his buddies stood the last time. Or one on the left side with some balloons around it (that me, Thoma, Big Al and his buddies can hold) and one on the right side with CSU with some balloons around. And then throw them around after the walkout.

That depends on who is enthusiastic about the idea. I find I have the best luck with random people and CSU, after the Eastern Conference I just sort of avoid HSH on these things even though I'm in there. It's no big deal, just not there style; as a lot were game for the first go during the Eastern Conference but a few gave me some gruff and were annoyed when I jumped the gun during the Eastern Conference and told everyone to hold them up again. Understandable, and everyone has their own style.

I always go to Ruby's and I love the walkover. But, I might think about in a year or two starting a hybrid Ultras group (kind of like Big Al has his group without a definable hangout. Won't be a big deal, as I'll still do what I usually do on game day, just would be more people into and down for this.) That depends if I'm still hopefully around Columbus. San Jose, Chicago, and Toronto all have these. Some not very good, some do some good things. I just think a group like that to the right of the stage, left side of the Nordecke would be cool since we are missing a group of organized people into this stuff. It's definitely how I want to support the team. I like to switch it up every game and do something new, instead of the same stuff and the same chants. But, anyways that's just a random thought I might think about for the future. For now, just trying to relay an idea for tomorrow's game.

I like the idea, Ryan. You'll need to hand out the balloons uninflated in order to keep security off your back and have everyone blow them up individually. That'll also be less of a hassle for you to deal with.

I know a lot of that paragraph is based on stuff that may or may not happen. However, there's certainly something good to be said about predicability. You don't want to turn things into a goose hunt with people asking every week about the game plan.

If you change it up TOO much, then you potentially leave people confused and bewildered. One of the main reasons why the various chants work is because they've been beated into people's heads. They see GBS step up for a free kick and they know what to do.

As for another group on the other side of the stage, it could work, but it would take a lot of coordination. You may not want to do too much of your own thing, but I don't think anyone will stop you from not showing up at whatever already existing bar, or doing whatever else.

No I get it. I'm just saying if I keep doing this and I get others interested. Maybe myself and some others stand over there in another one or two years. I'm not saying it's going to be a full fledged group. I mean I can be a part of one group and hang out there before the game and then do my Ultras group thing during the game. No real membership dues or anything, just throw down money for demonstations and get together. Just maybe some day soon like 50 or so guys that know what's going on stand there and we do something every game. Even some people could join up during the walkout or whenever the display goes on and then walk back over to their perspective group after its done. We involve the rest of the section when we can and when they are interested. Everyone involved is down to throw 10 bucks on something and we do some massive stuff over there.

It's just how I rather support the side.

Doing the same thing I know as well. I just think along with chants, if I had 50 guys down with some of the new ideas I have maybe it would spread throughout the section. We Love You was luck. I tried some others against TFC and some people just looked at me like I was weird. :D Trying to get a version of that "la la la" pirate jam.

Mike, what about the balloons? I figured I blow them up, walk them in three hours before, and sit them in front of the section. What's the security hazard? I already blown up like 20 or so. They don't float at all, except for a second if you hit them up in the air. Then just hand them out to people around the banners.

I think I can get people to wave them around. I don't know if everyone will be down for blowing their own and tying it. Maybe they will. If it's a big deal I'll just bring the rest deflated. I'll sit on them tomorrow until I get some more clarification as it's just an idea.

If you already have them blown up, security probably won't let them in because "they could end up on the field." An example of this would be how stupid they get over the sight of a beach ball. If you hand out balloons and then have a couple hundred people blow them up at the same time, there's nothing that they can do about it.

The chances of these making it on the field are like 0% percent. I was actually hoping they would float because I was just going to release them in the air during the walkout because that would be easy. But, doesn't work that way. And, okay, I'll try to hand them out.

Should be interesting, should have asked before blowing up 12 or so.

For balloons to float you would need helium. I know you have a lot of hot air but that wouldnt quite do it:p

Just write on the balloons "inflate at the (_) minute" Tell 'em when you hand em out and that should be a great show if they all inflate suddenly instead of erratically.

That sounds like a great idea. But, how am I going to write it on the balloons as they are pretty small when deflated. I'll just hand them out around the banners and tell them to inflate and hold them around the banners at some minute. I don't know if we should do it on the walkout or wait until we hopefully score.

Btw, when is everyone taking stuff into the stadium. As I was going to take my banner in beforehand.

I have 78 balloons, I had 90 but I blew up like 12 or so early last night.

I'll just raise my banner at some point along with the 78 balloons around it. Add in Thoma's as a crowd one if he wants.

I've written on balloons before with a sharpe.

Another idea for the future would be to tape a small note to the balloon with the inflation instructions

Crewfighter, I thought the balloon thing turned out "fairly" decent tonight, at least from the view down in 105. "If" you guys continued to grow the idea every so often, it "could" turn out looking pretty cool. Honestly I wasn't big on the idea until I saw it live. Props.

Yeah it's very cheap and it didn't really go off how I wanted it to last second. Doesn't really work asking people to blow them up last minute. Be alot easier to have them blown up pre-game and then distrubute them around the banner. Instead it was me and like two others trying to blow them up quickly.

No big deal. Cost me six bucks for all of them, will try again. It would have gone off alright if everyone knew what was up. I had my crowd banner sort of up for a while and then with a couple of balloons around it. Didn't go off exactly but food for thought for Chicago.

My crowd banner from yesterday, I'm going to convert it as a railing banner and come up with something else for Chicago:

Yeah blowing them up in the section really didn't work out too well. If they are in like 3 clothes baskets with tops on them already filled up they would work much better.

That way I could just hand them out like the two sticks. I should have tried to just bring them in that way. Cover them up with some banners or something if the front office has a problem with them.

I was wondering more so if there was a pic of the banner and the smoke bomb, that had to look alright compared to most of the pics I have seen.

    Har Har Har. :D

Like I said it didn't come off that good. Non-diehards in the section get two sticks okay and banners. But, hand them a balloon and they are like wtf? I felt kind of gay handing out balloons btw. But, if you do it like the Timbers did it, it looks good and is fun to throw them around afterwards.

Also super cheap. Like the flag zip tie idea, I love super cheap.

If it's attempted again I'm thinking we need someone to sing "99 Luftballoons".

I would apologize via PM but you might take that the wrong way... ;) Do not take it as a poke at you or your idea - it was not meant at all for that intention. :)

That comment was not directed to you.. it was more as an inside joke to 9Rush..

    Carry on.
