How about we beat this damn team this year. They took the games to us last year especially at T.P. I'm not even going to speculate on the line-up yet. We should have slightly better weather than last home game ... slightly
You're not remembering correctly. We dominated the home game last year and were unlucky to lose. KC got a crap goal early because Busch misjudged a bounce, then we spent the rest of the game blowing chance after chance. If you'll remember, that was the game that Barrett skied an empty netter from the six, Blanco hit the crossbar, and Conde sent a point blank shot right into Hartman's gut. That's just off the top of my head.
Took the words right outa my mouth ... Put em back Yea, now I remember the match. I don't know what match I was thinking of. Well, let's just f'n beat them this year!
I'm curious to see how our defense handles Davy Arnaud, who is red hot right now. Assuming Conde is healthy and Soumare stops falling down, I think we'll do alright, but we'll see.
Well, KC gave us our first loss last year and it was at Toyota Park, just like this one. To be fair, though, we dominated that game, and Barrett wasn't the only Fire player to miss a wide-open chance. KC didn't look at all impressive against Seattle last week . . . they probably marginally outplayed them in the first half, but were completely dominated in the 2nd half, despite having an extra player on the field. I don't really buy all of the talk that KC is a hot team right now. They won a home game against a team that's terrible on the road, and then got a somewhat lucky win against a team playing a man down. I really can't see us getting less than 3 points assuming Hamlett goes back to our usual lineup (even if it's not the lineup most of us want to see). ----------McBride-------Nyarko------------- ------------------------------------------- Mapp-----------Thorrington------------Pappa ------------------Pause-------------------- Segares-----Soumare-----Conde----------Ward ------------------Busch-------------------- I'd like to see Rolfe in place of either Nyarko, Thorrington, or Mapp (with Pappa shifting to the left), but I doubt it'll happen.
Yummy, Yummy, Yummy, I've got love in my Tummy... Oops...sorry...I got distracted... Ah yes, KC... Let's kick thier asses!!! Go Fire!!!
It's going to be intresting to see what kind of lineup Hamlett throws out for Saturday's game. Thorrington will be back from suspension, Conde should be back from his nose problem, looks like Rolfe is ready to 90. Rolfe and Blanco looked pretty good with the time they got against SJ, so it should be very intresting.
Beyond Ohio Express and Bubblegum pop, this just has porn music all over it. If only it had the flanged guitar in the background.
We've gotten pretty good results so far, but I'd like to see us put in a good performance. We were pretty good in the second half against SJ, just with a horrible play by robinson. I'd like to see that lineup run out.
KC has almost no chance. their team is very good at home but very bad away.... and our team has to be one of the most pwnage of all this season.... if they beat us or even tie us i would basically have a stroke, its just impossible
Well...DH is not too difficult to figure out when it comes to lineups...(except the last match) at least half of the lineup is set...4 defensive backs...1 CDM...so hopefully this time around he will balance it out again with 5 in the attack...my guess is... ************McBride*********** *******Blanco*******Rolfe******* **Mapp******************Thor** ************Pause************* **Sega***Conde****Baky***Ward** ************Busch*************or, ***********McBride************ ************Blanco************ **Mapp*****Thorrington****Rolfe** ************Pause************ **Sega***Conde***Baky***Ward** ***********Busch************* or possibly, ************McBride*********** **Mapp***************Washington** *Woolard**Sega**Conde**Baky**Robinson**Ward**Prideaux* ***********Busch**************
------------------Busch----------------- Ward--------Baky---Conde-------Sega ------------------------------------------ ------------------Pause----------------- Thor------------------------------Pappa -------------------Rolfe----------------- ------------Nyarko----Mcbride--------- Blanco for McBride (needs a little rest) Woolard for Sega (also needs a little rest) Mapp for.... (maybe we don't really need three subs, but because of Rolfe, Thor and Pappa's versatility, we can bring Mapp in for almost anyone in the attacking half of the field and stick him in at left mid.)
I was just trying to decode DH's gameplan...if it was up to me Pappa starts. But the problem is which of the five players (midfield and forward(s)) will start: McBride, Nyarko, Rolfe, Thorrington, Mapp, Blanco, Pappa...2 of them have to sit on the bench. Of these players, the only one who isn't hot right now is Thorrington. Hamlet usually comes up with an excuse for the bench players...I'll go with calf strain and virus for Thorrington and Nyarko...
Clearly last year Blanco was overused, and it cost the team at the end. Denis knows the team has to learn to play without Blanco. He has to be able to go 90' at times, but there are times he should only be a 60 minute player. So far he's come in three times, at the 80th,70th and 45th minutes. Regarding Rolfe, he has played in all four games, but only at the 70th or 80th minute. I think Blanco should be expected to be able to go a whole hour, so its' time to start him. Rolfe might find himself a sub again. So our lineup is probably This: |------------Blanco--------McBride--------- | |-Mapp-----------Thor-----------Pappa----- | |----------------------Pause---------------- | |--Sega------------------------------Ward-- | |-------------Conde--------Soumare--------- | |-------------------| Busch |--------------- If Hamlet would start Blanco out wide, though, we could play: ---------------Nyarko--------McBride-------- Pappa----------------Thor-------------Blanco ---------------------Pause------------------ Sega----------------------------------Ward-- -------------Conde-------Soumare------------ ------------------| Busch |------------------- Meanwhile, what is being predicted as the KC lineup?
Most likely the same starting XI that we used our last two games, both wins: -------------Lopez---Arnaud------------- --Wolff----Hirsig---Jewsbury--Gomez-- --Besler--Hohlbein--Conrad--Watson--- ----------------Hartman------------------ Wolff, Gomez, Lopez, and Arnaud have been playing somewhat interchangeably, you'll see them overlapping front to back. Don't let Davy alone with the ball at his feet anywhere up to 35-40 yards away from goal. Gomez has looked OK. Lopez has moments of brilliance in between moments of giving up on balls and jawing at his teammates when they're not on the same page as him. Wolff is not dangerous anymore. Hirsig and Jewsbury have both looked good in the middle, both are good ball winners and holders and distributors. Jewsbury is always a threat for a long-range shot. He's also a threat for a yellow card -- he definitely plays hard. Hohlbein and Conrad have been solid. Besler has been playing well for a rookie. Watson is a hard worker but does make his share of mistakes. Luckily for us other teams haven't capitalized on them yet. Hartman is Hartman. Key to the game: shut Davy, Hirsig, and Jewsbury down and you'll likely win. Let them have their way in the middle of the park and you might be in for a surprise.
What I'd like to see: -----------McBride----------Rolfe------------ --------------------Blanco------------------- --Pappa--------------------------------Thor-- --------------------Pause-------------------- --Sega-------Conde-------Soumare----Ward--- -------------------- Busch -------------------- Sub in Nyarko and Mapp for Blanco and Rolfe as needed. That said, I doubt both Blanco and Rolfe will start (though at least one of them should), and I highly doubt Mapp will be on the bench. It'll be interesting to see the lineup DH puts out. Of Blanco, Rolfe, Nyarko, Mapp, Pappa, and Thor, two have to sit. We'll see.
