http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/engla...-up-what-could-be-his-proudest-arsenal-season think about that... *altho Drogba did not play that day, lolz
The best case scenario would probably result in his proudest season, but the worst case scenario still leaves room for exactly the opposite. He also needs to shed this Davd and Goliath complex we have built up over the last few years. It was true a few years ago, not so much anymore. Our average age isn't that far behind other teams anymore, and we spend more than almost every other team in Europe in terms of total wages + transfers. There is a lot that can be achieved over these next 6 weeks - if we are up for it.
if this squad stays together and we bring in a defender and a box to box destroyer im confident we walk the league
I think we will bring in a central defender in the offseason and that is it. Unless a true world class talent were to become available I can't see any way that AW would bring him in to compete with the players we have. And there are maybe 3 or 4 world class players that fit that mold and none of them are likely to become available.
i dont think we need 'world class' maybe song is the player i want? just someone to win the ball higher up the field and track back all over, flamini wouldve been perfect maybe we can snipe mamadou? ill get hate for this but cattermole is a good player in this role who plays for wigan
The thing is that AW has made it very clear that he isn't going to sacrifice the development of his young guns to bring in a stopgap player. Denilson and Song will play that role next year.
I'm sure the original is an accurate interview. However I'm guessing that the translator was perhaps from London?
Wenger and I think similarly in this respect. Obviously, I want trophies, but this season will be a success if we can finish it off strongly. I am proud of the turnaround and the quality that has shown through. It wasn't too long ago when people were questioning the team's quality, desire, and mental toughness. Regardless of how the season turns out, the team has answered those questions already. Obviously, we have to keep the team together, which may be hard, but if you take a macro view of what is going on with the team, it is hard not to be impressed.
yup...many things are lost in translation, i haven't looked at the french article, but I have my doubts that the "you are not an arsenal fan" part comes off quite the same way in french. the "bloke" was probably a reporter anyway.
lol, I didnt even realize that everyone ripped this off the Arsenal site http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/wenger-why-this-could-be-my-proudest-season
Well, there is the stereotype of the French... but that may only be the stereotype of the Parisian, and he's Alsatian.
Well considering how the team looked like it was going to self destruct from the inside earlier this season, 1 match away from the CL semi-finals, match to get the team to wembley, plus a chance to snag 3rd place. Not bad for a bunch of youngsters.
It was better to call him an "Alsatian" than to call him a "Strasbourger." That sounds more like dog food. Besides, he's more like a wolf that comes down on the fold, his cohorts gleaming in away kits of gold. Boss Wenger, oh whoa! Boss Wenger, oh whoa whoa whoa! He comes from Strasbourg, France! He makes Sp*rs sh*t their pants!
Gallas out, a classy central defender in, everyone else stays (yea right) we win the league next season.
why get rid of a classy defender who is settled, for someone else? we are one CB away from being able to win the premiership... keep Gallas and Kolo
