Policy wonks would love it. He discusses just about every criticism of his policies head on, and gives his reasoning for all his decisions. I'll post the script whenever it gets posted. It's on CNN right now.

I also enjoy speech. Really like how President Obama explains Bank Accounts. $1.00 in the bank can mean $8.00 to $10.00 in potential loans. Obviously with persons in a better postion. But can let people know, importance in savings.

Great speech. Will be totally ignored by Congress.

I expect a Pelosi grand slam of crap coming out of the Capitol.

The definition of Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.

In this case, it would be insanity to expect anything else from Pelosi - given her history.

Fortunately, I think our President has more power right now than our Congress, thanks to his high popularity among the people. Congress it too gutless to cross him

I hope so .... but strangely, it seems they are more likely to voice things against Obama, supposedly one of their own, than they were against that last guy - maybe they were just scared of Cheney.......

I didn't get to hear The Messiah's speech, nor have I read the text, but my guess is that it wasn't all that great, unless he finally figured out that you can't tax & spend your way out of a recession.

I thought it was the big tent the Democrats live under. Like it's OK to question and dissent. Or maybe it's just my avatar.

Oh no, I have no problem with it. I think one of the great things about being a Democrat is I don't need to believe every single word of all my "leaders" and we don't have to read from a page of "talking points" to be members, and aren't told what we have to believe in and what we aren't allowed to believe in.
I just wish they'd had more balls with the last guy :)

There is nothing more American than dissent.

    They aren't readers.

They're nutjobs sent by Rush to pollute the blogosphere with their inane, retarded drivel.

HOwever, metaphorically speaking, he bowed to the bankers and Wall Street like Bush did....Heck we all did (with our tax $$$)

He also wrote a letter supporting the US World Cup bid.... Ok, he's back in my good graces..... yes, we can!

I don't know if the Republicans were just too disciplined to pretty much rubber stamp everything Bush did 6 of the last 8 years..Then again, so did teh Dem congress under Bush.... Or was Cheney that effective helping out on this regard? To a degree, i wonder: would it be better if Joe were like Cheney ? (minus the trampling of the Constitution/disdain for the separation of powers and general disdain for the rule of law parts)

It would be a start if Joe can just keep his mouth shut for a few months without sticking his foot in it.

I agree, if there is one asset i can see Cheney had was his ability to stay out of the spotlight for long periods...and to work behind the shadows.... Of course, in his particular case, it was also a flaw, when he abused the fact he was alllowed to do stuff in secrecy....

Joe could try and keep his mouth shut more often...at his age though, i don't thihk that is happening....

No idea, but I'd like to marginalize Congress as much as possible until they grow up. I've lost faith in that entire branch of government to actually accomplish something worthwhile, except when given specific directions. They almost effed the Stimulus Bill and that should have been a slam dunk.

And I think the GOP Controlled congress absolutely rubber stamped everything Bush threw at them - and vice versa.

The Dem congress was hamstrung. They couldn't fight back against Bush's veto - but they did force that issue several times.

But does he know it. Recent history doesn't assure me that he does.

    It's not Joe. It's Barry.

Obama has still not asserted himself as an executive yet so congress smells that weakness and pounces. Say what you want about Bush but there was no question that the executive branch was in the business of execution when he was running it. Same with Clinton, Bush Sr. and Reagan.

He has to stop trying to play Mr. Popular and start being Mr. President.

BTW, I have a French lady in my office. I have just made a trade with her. Obama for Sarkosy, 1 for 1. They both seem like they are more suited for each others job.

So salute your new leader and his HOTTTTTTTT lady.

Dissent has been a national tradition much longer than baseball. Have the tea-baggers taught you nothing?

That's why Obama is cutting taxes.

You live in a fantasyland. I like pointing that out to you. Now, go do a Cleveland Steamer to your sister/cousin.
