Revolution at Napoli, De Laurentiis: 'I'll acquire a playmaker, a defender and a striker'
    13-Apr-2009

Napoli's poor performance against Atalanta triggered the reaction of president De Laurentiis, who is ready to invest on the market and acquire quality players: "We need a playmaker, I said this some time ago, but I wasn’t heard. Now I want to do it and we’ll acquire a playmaker. Then, in the future, we will look for a first attacker and a defender.

Floccari? He’s a good first attacker, I do not know if he can score more than 10 goals per season, but I think he would be good for Napoli. Last year I said that our participation to the Intertoto would have been bad for us, but nothing has been done. Apart from that, talking about the players, I would have done a clean sweep once being promoted to Serie A. I would have saved two years. Instead I listened to more experienced people, and now we find ourselves with this group. We admitted our mistakes, but we shouldn’t make them twice".

The president’s harsh words will trigger the hunt for a list of names for the next season. Gaetano D'Agostino is the first candidate for the role of playmaker, but the Argentine Banega is also liked. He's got less technical skills, but he's faster. In the attack Donadoni would like Borriello, who is having an unlucky season at Milan, but there might be surprises from South America, where Napoli has already picked in recent years.

D'Agostino, Floccari and a reliable CB would be great additions. You'll probably need a good left back too (there were rumors about Modesto and Pasqual). I also hear you're looking for a keeper (Navarro is pure crap and the other 2 are getting old and both have health problems).

    Marchetti
    Maggio-Santacroce-new cb-Pasqual/Modesto
    Blasi-D'Agostino-Hamsik
    Lavezzi-Floccari-Mannini

    Iezzo/Gianello
    Rinaudo/Contini
    Cannavaro
    Gargano
    Datolo
    Russotto
    Denis

Good team, if Donadoni repeats his Livorno years you'll no doubt be back.

How about a GK, that makes 4?

Yeah, It's kinda strange to think a GM wouldn't want to go out there and spend a ton of money to build a new team ... that's retarded.

I would have dropped everyone except:

    Iezzo
    DallaBona
    Cannavarro
    Domizzi (at the time)
    Garics
Vitale (only cause he was from our youth program)
Cupi (who did pretty good his first 6 months back in A)

Pretty much everyone who had some Serie A expirience.. everyone else would have been dropped.

common sense would allude to that list ( I personally would add Santacroce, Mannini & Gargano aswell, i think Lavezzi & Hamsik is a given) but Marino...

Those guys were not with us when we made the jump. They began in serie A and never played for us in b. Obviously we would keep them. I think you misunderstood. NO biggie.
