I will be in London for the next 2 weeks and I was hoping you guys could suggest a good place for me to go watch the games in the Canary Wharf area, since that is where I am staying

None. Canary Wharf is a horrible place to stay, why did you choose it? Business?

It's basically an identikit set of buildings hosting major financial corporations. There are a few pubs but they cater strictly to the office workers. The place is a ghost town after 6 pm and on weekends. Basically you're better off jetting into town and watching the game in North London or failing that the East End.

Thanks for the info. I am indeed staying there for work. I didn't book the hotel which I suspect I am going to regret.

I don't have a problem taking mass transit.

So where is the best place to watch the games. I'll be there for the CL match on Wednesday and the FA Cup semifinal. I will actually be at the Boro game which I am very excited about.

It's not a terrible place, it's just like staying in a hotel on Wall Street, if you get my drift. It's one saving feature is that it's very easy to get from Canary Wharf tube to North London (about half an hour on the Choob).

Come up to North London for both games. I'll buy you a drink.

Sure. What pub will you be going to?

FTR, I have never been to London so I know next to nothing.

I would like to wear my Arsenal jersey but will this lead to any stupidity?

I'd recommend the 12 Pins near Finsbury Park if you like a sing song. If not then the Arsenal Tavern on Blackstock Road has a big screen and comfy chairs.
As long as you don't go walking around Tottenham you'll be fine.

Why in the world would I ever want to go to a place of such ignoble disrepute?

    :)

    Thanks for the info.

12 Pins is good - I like the Bank of Friendship myself. I'll pm you with my mobile.

Also you'll be fine. You'd be fine even in Tottenham/Hackney/etc.

    That is bad,bad,bad advice:eek:
Watch the game in Highbury.or better still pop into the tavern or try the supporters club, there's a fair chance you might pick up a ticket. But don't wear an Arsenal shirt in a pub in Tottenham on a match day,or any other day for that matter,in fact stay away from the place it's a shithole.

You can always go to "The Gunners" on Blackstock Road, which is the home fans pub. Generally you WON'T get in unless you are wearing an Arsenal shirt! :) Worth checking out for the stuff on the walls, particularly if you have never been there before, and want to get a "feel" for the place.

Well I'd hardly recommend going to Tottenham on match day in an Arsenal shirt. That's loony.

But on a normal working day? You might get a few dirty looks, but that's all.

As someone who has lived in North London amongst spurs fans all my life,I'm telling you it would be a silly thing to do,on any day, just as silly as it would be to wear a scum shirt in an Islington pub.

Yes, all "The Boys" will be going! :D We are meeting up somewhere around the Highbury & Islington area, and then travelling to Wembley from there, via a pub in Hampstead.
